Sounds soooo good! Funny thing the plexi... For me it's one of those amps that when i hear them, like this, it sounds amazing to me. But when i play on one i always feel the gain is much thinner, and I find myself wanting more. I end up boosting it looking for a little more saturation, and then it doesn't sound like the same plexi tones that make me love a plexi.
These days there are many clean and transparent boost pedal options, where as back in the day they were mostly treble boosters and fuzz pedals ( which are cool in themselves also)
You forgot to throw in Funk 49 in there. Sounds just amazing. I could never afford anything like this so I settled for the Origin 50 head re-tubed with Mullard el34's and Mesa 12Ax7's. Getting some really good sounds via Celestion Creambacks, Keely modified Tube Screamers and compressor. Great demo.
From what I've read, Warren DeMartini owns a Plexi that's very close serial number wise to the infamous 12301 and Marshall borrowed Warren's amp to clone it for these amps
Sounds fantastic. That IS the sound. I know it isn’t as ‘saturated’ as some might prefer, but do you find that there is ample sustain regardless? My experience with the SV20 is that there is just a great sustain that almost seems to make up for the lack of distortion, if that makes sense. The notes just ring and are so present.
That’s a great way of putting it and yes I agree. There isn’t a lot of gain but you don’t really want more, it’s just not necessarily when it sounds so raw and alive
@@blakemansfield2356 I have a PPIMV on mine so it’s not so scary. But on full it’s ungodly… in a good way. Also if you didn’t know the normal channel volume adds low end when turned up when you are plugged into the bright channel. Where you have it in the video is pretty high for rock rhythm tones from my experience. Around 9 o clock or below is good I think, too flubby otherwise
@@blakemansfield2356 yes even when not jumpered. My usual settings are like presence noon-2, bass 9 o clock or lower, even off, mids 1-2 o clock, treble same as mids or bit higher, bright vol around 1-3 o clock and normal basically off. Then peg back PPIMV, usually about noon-2 so it tames it a bit and not pushing the output tubes too hard.
sounds really great! I didn’t love mine until I put it on 4 ohms and then it came alive. Weirdly the NFB is taken from the speaker jack so it’ll change based on how the switch is set. 4 is most aggressive 🤘
Sounds awesome. Btw, you should watch the video of Joe Walsh playing Whole Lotta Love to see how to play it properly. The bend is actually a double stop with the open D string beneath the bent D on the A string.
Sounds killer man like all your other stuff. I’ve been using the BE 100 deluxe with the captor x and york audio IRs the york audio stuff definitely got me better results but I’m still not quite happy with my recorded tones. I’m getting closer though. I do wonder though if I’d get better results with the suhr.
i hate when people say greenback because there are so many celestion speakers with green backs like the g12h30 jimmy page and Jimi Hendrix used. But then there is the g12m25 like EVH used also 55hz and 75hz versions of both. Those are just 2 notable examples there are many more
Blake, To help us understand what amp you are demonstrating, could you please mention if the amp is the recent Marshall 1959 HW Plexi reissue version or is it an older vintage amp instead? Thanks!
I really wonder. How did you get so much gain and distorion from Plexi head? In real life it's almost clean. Even with high output humbuckers it sounds a little bit crunchy (with no OD pedal) and not so beefy and distorted as yours. Do you have some mods (like cascading gain stages) or do you use some power attenuator crankin power amp to distortion?
Hey man - I think it depends on how particular you are. To me - they are quite different. The big downside to the plexi is you need a power station to actually use it on a regular basis. Also, I’d be taking a hard look at friedmans PLEX. Think it’s being released this week
@@blakemansfield2356 you are awesome. I appreciate the answer. I’ll take a look at the Friedman although from my past Friedman experience I’m suspecting it will be very cut and not as wide and crazy. I had a dirty Shirley and my Helios is WAY better for what I do.
I just got one of these and noticed something with the Treble Knob and don’t know if it’s a failure or a feature. On yours when you lower the Treble knob past 12 o’clock does it seem to get a bassy volume boost? It’s strange I figured the treble knob when backed off would just cut the treble but I come from a Mesa Boogie background so I just really don’t know if it’s just a quick of a Plexi as it sits it seems the Treble knob is crazy power on this beast haha.
I've owned 150 amps (I kept a log) and this is my favorite amp out of the 150...true story! Great video, a very accurate representation of this amp.
Did you ever own a jtm45? I'm torn between the jtm45 and this amp.
Wow,thats saying a lot! Thank you.
Sparkly, bright, mean, I love it.
I can see why the Plexi circuit is the basis of so many modern era hot rodded amps
Undeniable tone !!!!
You got it
Actually the bassman is…. Marshall copied the design.
This how SLP 1959 is ! Insane! Owned one ! Great sound.
That's what I expect when I buy Marshall !
Ceriatone Amps make an all handwired “All Axcess Plexi “ 100 and 50 watt amps that will give you all the plexi tones from the sixties and seventies.
Sounds soooo good!

Would help if I had a strat!
Beautiful tone !
I need a Marshall cab with Greenbacks because of your videos
Lol

The Origins sound great- had one and would easily have another.
Nice playing... and beautiful sounding amp. Great demo.

A Monster of Tone 💪🏻 I love my 1959HW too 👍🏻
How long you had it?
@@blakemansfield2356 I have a 1992 Marshall rebuild as a plexi about 2 years and the 1959HW about half year.

Lovely tones and playing.
