Marshall amps not only sound great they smell good.
right😀
I know! Whats that all about
They smell sweet like they sound, i think its fresh pine
It’s true, no amp smells like a warm Marshall haha
I think that is his after shave.
Would love to see this type of video with the jcm 800/900/2000 range
JMT for clean tones. 1987X - for dirty tones. 1959HW - balanced. All three are great.
The 1959HW needs to be turned up past 6 before it comes alive
JTM 45 for me!
Well it looks like I need all of them!
Marshall Origin is the best sounding amp you ever made thank you very much for this, it sounds clean and lovely, it's an state of art!
All sound fabulous but the JTM45 wins for me. Would have been useful to know the dB levels for each demonstration.
Too loud for human ears!
I prefer the 1987X for the dirty tones, it's fuller in the bass frequencies and has more growl. Hands down for the clean tone on the JTM45, sounds clear and precise.
Love them all! For me since I play Fenders mostly the JTM 45 works best.
It does not get much better than this. All tones are great, but especially the clean ones🎸🎸🎸
Hell yeah, more videos like this please. I loved all 3 but if I can only get one, its the JTM 45 for sure.
Interesting how they sound different from each other, both all of them are great!!
Nice. I started out with the Super Leads but have gravitated to the JTM45 and that's where I live now. I love the vintage sound and the lower volume level. I've also come to love combos.
Daaamn I was so sure I was gonna go for the 1959HW or the 1987x....but you just can't beat that jtm 45. Great demo buddy. And the timeline was excellent help.
1959 HW for me!! Best of both worlds.
Just got the 1987x and is completely brutal. I love it. It’s way louder than any other amp I’ve ever played by far.
Best amps in the world! Love Marshall
Good job marshall!! good video for customers
I've loved all three for 40 years+. They sound great. I am partial to the 1987X over the years but here the 45 sounds best. But I am happiest to see/hear some new pickups in the Les Paul!
Steve is killing it again! 👏🏻
All sound amazing! 🔥
All good but I preferred them as 1-1987x, 2-JTM45 and 3-1959HW based on dirty tones. Nice demonstration! And thanks for the separated timeline - instant comparison through clicks.
This is why I dedicate my live to recreate those sounds... Just amazing!!! the 1987x is the one for me in this video :-).
Love my 1959 100w reissues , well built and Powerful 💥
Somehow I still think the very first Marshall ever released, which was jtm 45, was the best of the best.
Great demo and playing! Nothing beats a Marshall 🤘!!
AC30 U2, Radiohead, Queen, Foo Fighters etc…is another Beast, but not For heavy Tones
After wading in the Marshall pool (and many other amps), for many years, I landed in my happiest place with my JTM45 into a 1-1 recreation of a Marshall mid-'60s 4x12 slant, but loaded with 30w Celestions instead of 25w greenbacks - I think the 30s tighten the low-end.
JTM45
0:40 ~ Dirty
1:09 ~ Clean
1987x
2:01 ~ Dirty
2:28 ~ Clean
1959HW
3:11 ~ Dirty
3:40 ~ Clean
JTM45 2245 for me is the clear winner. I got mine paired with a 1936 2x12 with Celestion Alnico Golds. Just glorious!
i would also wear earplugs beside a 1959HW ... ;) Killer Cleans and great playing. The Clean Sounds of the 100W are way to underrated ...
Very nice JTM 45!
Aaargh..... I need all three....
1959HW best of the best, then 1987X.All three amps are gems, great ❤
Oh man those cleans 🤤
I just can't decide between these.. Solution: the three in full stack and a warehouse!
Btw I've been always looking for a comparison between these...thanks Marshall
Sounds good!
I just luv the raw-in your face tone of these beasts. High gain amps kind of lack of that quality.
JTM45 for cleans, 1987x for dirty.
Jtm 45 for me 🙂 Thanks for the vidéo
Good comparison video. However, my original '66 script logo JTM45 Plexi with cream backplate and GEC KT66 power valves can cover both your reissue 2245 & 1987 tone territory but the reissues do appear pretty faithful in their originals sound reproduction.
I'll take the Marshall
Hey Guys - would you mind sharing the settings for the clean Tones of the 1959? Cheers
I love them all but the 1987 is the one I love the most
ah man i wish every guitarist could own and crank a JTM45
Great, now i need a $3000 1959HW 🤘😜
JTM 45 ... and it's love.
Yo my man how do you stop the oscillation that puts a fizzy sound on notes an chords in a 1959 man....if you know I would sure appreciate it
JTM45 and 1959HW are the best.
Don’t know what to say. They were all so tasty. Gotta have one of each.
I have a 1967 68 Marshall. Plexi that is either nineteen sixty seven or sixty eight. What do you think it would be worth
I love plexi, the song of rock !!
JTM45 voor mij🤘
can you do the same thing playing Hendrix with strat and a Fuzz in front of?!?
Wish you had done this with a Strat on the neck pickup as well. Entirely different sounding animal.
Wow, I'm surprised. I thought I'd like the 1959HW but I liked the JTM45 best. I guess being HW doesn't mean as much as I thought.
1959 hand wired 1st for me but the JTM 45 is not far from it tonally. All great amps and I would me more than happy with any one of them
All of them !!
Wow that 1987X gets after it. That was on 4?? Or did you say "full" and I misunderstood?
I have this exact setup. Sounds great. The fit and finish of the cab was not the best for a brand new item :/
Just bought jtm 45. MUST dial in your dirty sound immediately
JTM 45 🗽
1959SLP Dirty tone all day!!
never heard of the royer axemount? you should get one..
All 3 sound great but not enough dirt for me. I prefer my DSL. With a tubescreamer.
JTM45 Tonemaster please!
They should show them boosted as well. Considering that’s the way a lot of people will use them.
You should update this video and throw the SV20 in there too.
1959 sits sort of inbetween the two. I still like the JTM45 the best. Sweetest cleans and a very organic overdrive. The 1959 seems to be a bit more compressed and midrangey which I feel like isn't a good trade off to the JTM45. The 1987 is a good, higher gain, faster responding, rock machine. But I didn't like the cleans on it.
The dirty channel on all 3 amps had too much treble in the EQ, especially the 1987x and 1959 which sounded a bit too harsh and trebly than I expected. Would have been nice if he switched pickups.
JTM45 for me to
As a teenager with their first master volume head there were 2 settings: distorted or 'broken'. Hey cut me some slack.. I was 15 dammnit 😂
These things have even more gain on tap if you DON'T jumper channels. When you have a guitar plugged into the high treble input and a jumper in the low treble input, the resistor in the low side is knocking off some signal. This can be good for taming high end but you lose gain
Best way to mix channels is plug separate leads into each hi input
Possiedo un 1987 x ..e lo Amo!É DEVASTANTE 🦇😈🐐❤️❤️❤️🤣!!!!!!!!.... SALUTI DALL'ITALIA ❤️😇
0:40 JTM45 Dirty
2:01 Plexi Dirty
1987 for me, but if it would be hand made then it would be even oversomer!
JTM45 sounded best!
I was hoping the JTM-45 would sound more Cream like. The 1987 was great, I think I liked it more than the 1959.
If you're after Cream tones, then the 1987X is actually the last amp you want of the three. It's modeled after the metal panel Marshalls of the '70s, so technically it's not even a true Plexi. If you plug straight into the 1959HW into the normal channel, dime every knob to the right (and get a quality attenuator so you don't go deaf), you'll nail Cream tones. I own the 1959HW and have played all three; The JTM-45 is more your Fresh Cream tones. The 1959HW is your live Cream tones in spades, and the 1987X is your '70s hard rock anything-but-Cream tones. Lol.
JTM 45 is still the best sounding Marshall to me… than 1974 combo and than the rest…
BTW you can easily hear Bassman’s pedigree in clean jtm45 sound…
Big amp with a 4x12 for the bedroom or office. There is no other way 💪🤣
Props to presenter casualy sitting next to 1959 gunned at 7
Yeah...this is great. Now all you have to do is make them available in the US.
Get the 1959HW and turn it to a super bass(get rid of the bright cap)then you will have the best sounding Marshall ever built.
JTM45 + Marshall Guv’nor + Marshall 1960b with EVM12L
Here in the U.S. just sell your home, car, and children and you too can own one of these amps.
Instead of jumping the channels, has anyone else ran stereo in the amp via a delay or verb pedal?
So glad Marshall manufactures these... which are the reason all other hi gain amps are made.
I admit I use a Germino Lead55 LV, but it is a period correct [1968 JMP Super Lead].
For decades I was unaware of what 'old Marshall or Plexi' truly was. My heroes said to turn it full up on a Marshall.
Thinking this rule applied to all amps, I was totally off since I never experienced a real Plexi. Just distortion pedals galore.
I would crank my Peaveys or any other preamp gain master volume amp and just be disappointed.
Even my Soldanos, EVH and others. They are designed to have nice output sections, and the preamp is all the breakup and distortion. Cranked full they all sounded muddy and pointless
Until you try the original [non master volume design], you will miss it as I did. Output tube distortion, within this circuit design is the key!!
Granted I was 13 in 1980, and Plexis were not something easy to come by in Musicians Supply.
The JCM800 may have its place, but any time I tried one, I was like, "No no, that's not the sound!"
It wasn't till I bought the JMP Super Lead, began experimenting that the Holy Grail revealed itself.
With modern reactive load boxes to tame the volume, it is now evident that the whole amp is the best distortion/overdrive pedal ever made. LOL
The Bassman is the original blueprint, but with Jim's evolved designs up to 1971, a monster was made. Including the Marshall Major.
Thanks Marshall for these modern re issue amps. The talented builders stay on their toes with their replicas.
They should have had Slash doing the comparisons.
This is the rig of Malcom and Angus Young
For the same price you can buy an original. Last year I got a '75 unmodded all original 1987 50w for $2400.
Jtm45 all the way. Jcm 800 when you really want to go dirty
0:40 3:11 2:01
I still don't understand why Marshall have chosen a gym instructor to be the face of their new product range.
Probably shouldn't have said that cos he's probably a hot shot whiz engineer who has had a big input in some of the gear I have bought from Marshall. Can anyone fill me in who he is?
He has product knowledge, he's a good guitar player, and he doesn't stutter. What the eff more do you want? A fatty that left Fender 3 days ago?
@@divebomb99 He is actually a good product front for Marshall imo now. Should've watched a few more of his videos before I posted that comment.
1987x for both dirty and clean for me. The 1959HW just sounds to shrill and JTM45, no enough bass and lower mids.
Be nice to see one of these amp demos done with an SG instead of a Les Paul for once. Those things pair nicely with a Marshall as well and you don't get the muffled LP tone.
Hide the small pets and the children. 1959HW = 1959SLP 100 Watt Super Lead #Legendary
Easy to remember the 1959 model no. since a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Sunburst is the Holy Grail of vintage guitars.
so the 1987x is really just a 2204?? why didn't they name it appropriately??
JTM 45 Sounds has more cream, 1987X has more attack but a bit thick, 1959 HW has more body than 1987 X and a bit of cream
Y’all should hire Johan Segeborn
1959 all the way…
And it is a small box.
I'll just stick with my Astoria Dual.
