Absolute best horror movie of the year. Better than the hyped The Substance or Strange Darling. Absolutely incredible from a movie no-one expected much from.
It’s available for preorder on dvd & has hit digital like a few days ago. It’s also still in theaters. But imo it’s not worth the watch. The movie should be renamed “shameless water bottle brand plug” instead of smile 2. The product placement was so bothering the whole movie. Plus the main character does questionable things to the point that you can’t even root for her.
Definitely my favorite movie of the year. I absolutely love the terrifier franchise and it’s good for what it is, a gore fest, and it’s not meant to have much substance, but this movie was relentlessly terrifying. I was on the edge of my seat the whole movie, and Naomi’s performance is up there with Toni Collette in Hereditary, Mia Goth in Pearl, and Florence Pugh in Midsommar. I enjoyed the jump scares, but they didn’t rely too heavily on them. I love the parallels from the first movie and it was so great seeing this movie live up to the greatness of the first one. This is easily an Oscar worthy movie, but, as we know already, there is no chance it will get nominated which kills me. Overall I loved this movie and I am excited to rewatch it.
