- Oregon's beaches are popular destinations for all sorts of recreation activities. This spring, one of the most popular sandy stretches is along 18 miles of shoreline in Clatsop County. That's where thousands of razor clam diggers have discovered one of the best clam seasons in years.
This is one of my favorite videos ever…I cannot even begin to explain how I love watching them catch them and cook them
EVERY SINGLE YEAR I CRAVE FOR THIS VIDEO
Great ole vid Grant - now 10 years ago! We're now up in Aberdeen, WA for good and loving the NW again. And I'm razor clamming and fishing for redtail surfperch at the Coast! Wanted to so badly live in the Depoe Bay area but with Oregon taxing my mil pension and their state income tax, WA was a much better decision. And we can still get down to the beloved Oregon Coast! Of note, I got me the Murff's Claminator with the vacuum breaker - makes the pulling almost effortless!
''Hi im Grant, And welcome to me shouting really loud on the beach!''
HI BILLY MAYS HERE, AND TODAY WE'RE DIGGING RAZOR CLAMS.
To all people who have been to or live in Oregon you should understand these 6 words Forest, Water, Weather, Mountains, animals, Plants.
Truly we have a tree growing threw the center over my school. you cant go anywhere in my city without seeing a tree (Big pine trees mostly).

"That looks dandy" lmfao
Me too!
True! Sometimes you get a 2in1 or a 3in1 scoop lol
No. I went razor clamming this weekend with someone who works for the WA State Fish and Game Dept., and he told me this information when I was concerned about cleaning the clams.
To save you watching the video, to catch a razorfish, you pour a shit ton of sand and water and a razorshell clam usually comes up
looks fun, and tasty!
circle of life
they look different to the long ones in England, so much harder to catch in America too.
this makes me want to go clam hunting too lol
Haha. I forget that us Floridians call them sand "fleas". In other places they're called sand crabs/mole crabs.
Do they bite? Never been bitten but I think they can.
He's frying them, then placing them on paper towels to rid of the excess oil. So yes.
holy cow, this clam appear in every beach ????
Professor Chaos - Every beach in the lower Columbia area.
I've never seen or heard of such a thing. I guess they have them in GB too.
Would love to do it.
Can someone take me?
looks good my mouths watering
ωραίο επάγγελμα !
I think the way British do it is better. They just pour a bit of salt water in the hole, which tricks the clams into thinking the tide is up causing it to stick its head out of the hole. You then just pull the rest of it out.
Oh yes, they do.
SAME HERE !
I used to live in Astoria
Neetarts bay is pretty good as well
Look for the video called "Razor's Edge" It should answer your question!
yes mee too! :)
Those clams are good Grilled with cheeze, butter and spices ^,..,^ Of course you grill it WITH the shell and not take them off like in the video.
*watching
sorry, had to. :)
I want to try it.
Here in Sweden we have sand fleas and some weird flies. D:
I'm jealous!
Yay my name is Grant
YUMMMM
I know how to prepare it in another way,you just change the oil for butter and put fried garlics on it,yummy,it goes awesome with red wine 2 :)
@Godofnoice LOL I got here from iPhone5 too!
I got all the way here by my fishing line
haha so enthusiastic.
damn i wanna try some of that
What about Maryland / d.c. And if u put salt on holes they'll jump right out the sand. Saves inergy and money. ( only use a little salt)
Only harvest Pacific razor clams from approved waters. Areas containing razor clams are often closed due to toxicity. Do not eat raw or partially cooked clams if you have liver disease alcoholism, cancer, diabetes, AIDS, any disease that compromises your immune system, inflammatory bowel disease or are a user of steroids. Consult your doctor about eating shellfish while you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
I'm starving!
indeed
Yum Yums.
nice
Similar. you should try it.
press 0 for a hearty welcome because we all know we won't get any of these anywhere else................
I wish he could have shown how to clean them with a knife better. Is there a center part to cut out? When is the season to harvest them? I think the way he cooked them looked delicious! Do they taste like oysters? Can one find them on the beaches in vancouver, canada?
Isabel Aasen - You have to check with the Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife to get current information. There is a regular season, but there also are irregular closings for conservation or because of toxins.
i wish i can do things like this cuz it looks fun and delicious too :>
but I live in singapore.. -.-
New Zealand theyre just called Pipi's and you don't have to work that hard for them, one scoop with your hand less than a few inches deep.
