Best Fig In The World?

- Best fig in the world? My italian 258 is drying out every day. This usually means it’s time to size up the pot on this fig tree. The italian 258 is supposed to be one of the best tasting figs in the world. Unfortunatly you can not grow it safely outdoors here in zone 7a southeastern pennsylvania becuase it’s not cold hardy enough. This is why I have to keep it in a pot so i can move it inside the garage in the winter time. I have yet to get any fruit from this fig bush but maybe you viewers can let me know! @UncleClaysOrchard #gardening #orchard #figs #fruittrees #fruitplants

Do you cut the bottom of the rotted plant or cut the sides so the roots to chocke the plant out?
yes i will “rough up” the rootball significantly. I actually took a saw and made big cuts down the sides and along the bottom, It’s very important to un bound the roots or the plant will struggle and can even die. I have mentioned this in a bunch of other videos so i didn’t feel the need here but you are correct

@UncleClaysOrchard yes on the ground. Apparently they do good in my zone but we'll see.
I have to re-pot my unknown fig tree I bought from our local Master Gardner's a next spring . Do you use play sand or?
I mixed in regular play sand but i’m sure you can get something with more grit in it. I don’t think it matters
