I always keep a list of gift ideas if a friend or family mentions a movie they haven't seen or something that they love. Sure helps when it comes time for Christmas and birthdays.
Wow :) I like how you put "sleep" in there as an immediate goal in your list. We all take it for granted, and it SO IMPORTANT to our health. This video is GREAT :)
More Melody this is so timely! I was just making a list of what lists to make. I just bought a bunch of notebooks too!! I love cheap notebooks from CVS! Lol
Hello, a recent sub and really appreciate your organizational vids. It brings me back to my childhood where I grew up, we were trained to make/write goals on a daily basis in school. We literally had a personal/group/class journal. It might sound a lot but it help every individual and fun to look back at the end of school year. We were able to track down our process by doing this as well. I just lost that habit and want to bring that back in my life. I love writing things down. I’m inspired by your videos and would love to see your things/items/details on your list if you don’t mind sharing. I’m out of verbs/words to describe my personality. It will help me to see the adjective that fits me the most. Thanks again😉 Xoxo
Thanks Melody! Here's a list: everything you spend money on (so you can make/keep a budget/economize) I like this thin book but wish it was made of stainless steel so it will last for decades of heavy wear and tear Have you heard of the Artist's Way? It includes writing 3 pages per day (regardless of what you have/don't have to say), a note book like this would make such a practice manageable and keep cost low. Another category would be contacts (doctors, insurance agent, attorney, accountant, plumber...all those folks who you rely on to keep your life together). In addition include details about your utilities: this helps folks who have wells, septic systems, multiple contacts for electricity/gas/solar, as well as, home maintenance (lawn care, snow removal, roofer, house cleaner). Another idea for this list book: your wishes for end of life decisions (help loved ones out by telling them your wishes before you are in situation where you cannot communicate these things). Might sound morbid but it is just another thing that clutters up some folks' minds...Here is a binder video I saw recently that explicitly details what I mean... ua-cam.com/video/Bi_lIPjfyKU/v-deo.html
This may seem ridiculous to some, but after many years of trying all kinds of planners, notebooks, systems, apps, etc., the best & simplest solution for me now is a thick, 6" x 8" hardcover notebook that costs $3.00 at Big Lots! The hard cover makes it easy to write in, without having to set it on a hard surface, so I can use it anywhere. It has so many pages and is so inexpensive, I can write everything in it, and tear pages out without a care. (Great for leaving notes for my family when I leave the house & tearing out the grocery list to take into the store). It has a handy elastic page holder attatched to the back cover. Everything is in one place, from lists to notes of all kinds, and it's an abundant source of "pieces of paper." I find the simplicity of that really frees up my mind. DIY pockets could easily be added to the covers. Also fits into my bag. All that for the low, low price of $3.00 (plus tax), and one book lasts around 2 - 3 months! P.S. Your new notebook is very nice, too. :) The flexible covers wouldn't be my preference, but maybe they sell hard ones?
I think I'm one of the few men who actively follow your channel, and I love it. Really great content with details that are useful, not too much fluff, not too generic information either. Keep it up!
I have wicked ADD, and in my research for a planner i came across bullet journaling. Love listing Everything on graph paper! But needed to be able to move it, I was able to find a disc bound planner really cheap and headed to office Depot and bought the TUL hole punch!! I LOVE IT!!!
I keep a list of the stores I shop at and what I buy from each. I can browse the list before I go to that store to remind myself to check if I am running out or need an item.
I have a list of what I have to do when I get home from a contracting job. The list is very helpful because at the end of the day I am exhausted and tend not to do the stuff I need to do to prepare for the next job. For instance it says- schedule next appointment if needed, unload tools from car, refill used up supplies, confirm tomorrow's appointment, put payments into bank deposit envelope, drink a glass of water, wash/dry/fold cleaning cloths, return certain things to storage place. Organization frees me up to concentrate on more important things. Thanks for sharing your lists
I’m a huge fan of arc notebooks! It was a fantastic system. The best part is exactly what you said, it’s customizable! Pages are so easy to remove and add! I had 2 notebooks, one was curated as my daily planner and notebook, the other was my hard copy for bookkeeping. I can definitely see the excitement in this video and I absolutely love it!
I just got this exact same notebook recently, and I felt the same way!! It's so amazing! It's also really great for bullet journaling, which is what I got it for, because they sell regular striped pages and also dotted pages.
Thanks Melody! I love the notebook! Just what I've been looking for too! Thanks for sharing, as I have been following your minimalist living I have changed my life around, always trying to declutter and cut down! Thanks again !
Thanks for all of the great tips. You are very efficient. I would love to see a video on how you organize your monthly bills/budget. I bet you have a very efficient system😉
I would love to see your minimalist wardrobe list(s). My wardrobe is small compared to many of my friends, but as a senior retiree, I'm interested in intelligent minimalism. I MUST finish packing quickly for my move to a smaller place, but the downsizing decisions are draining me physically & mentally. I have so little energy, Im about ready to just pack most of it & sort it out after I've moved.
I loved this video. And it helped me get organized too. I used to make lists but somehow i fell out of that habit. But I always only focused on major tasks, not accounting for little things, which limited the usefulness of my lists as little things took up a lot of my time. Also there are projects, I have been trying to work on but wasn't organized enough to get started on them. But now I believe I finally know how can I can go about them. Thanks for this most helpful video!!
That is amazing! The elusive search for the ‚perfect‘ notebook keeps me up at night, too. My favorite pet peeve: the ones where you can exchange pages are too bulky, but the permanent ones are never as ‚perfect‘ as I like...I just need to be able to exchange and improve things, even in my notebook. It’s like a blueprint for my life 😀 And it comes in hot pink, my favorite color of all times. Practical items never come in pink otherwise! Lol...sadly I don’t live in the U.S. but you inspired me to look around for a similar product here. I would be surprised, if it didn’t exist...
This notebook is great! I have been using the Staples version, called Arc. I use the planner and can update it with refills each year. I'm on year two with it, and it's great! Plus, covers can be wiped down easily, or replaced! FYI, Tul makes fantastic pens. Check out the needle point version, in colors. Makes writing even more fun!
Hi Melody! Not sure if you've got Muji where you are but you should definitely check it out. It's a Japanese shop with all sorts of home and living items with clear / opaque designs.
I want to get this note book. I have 5 categories. Made the mistake of buying little note books from Dollar Tree. Misplaced an important one, tried a 5 subject notebook ran out of pages in 2 categories, loose leaf binder too bulky. Wasting money bugs me; this looks like a great buy and great idea. Thank you.
Really good idea, I love lists for everything. But if you had them electronically on your phone, then you can modify them and not have to re-write. It's good to be organised but also good to take life as comes sometimes. Some of the things that we never plan and are often are the best 😄
Melody!! I bought the tul notepad today!! I just couldn’t decide if I should get the small or big one! I ended up getting the small one because it is easier to carry in my purse, but I like the bigger pages! Lol so indecisive! Any suggestions? Lol And I ended up ordering the “home” inserts! I love taking notes too, thanks for bringing this to our attention!
I divide things into chores...1 time and done, and projects, stuff that's going to be multiple steps, have to wait on a reply, part in the mail, etc! Very useful. Have a wishlist vs an actual shopping list. Love lists :) love the Keep app too. Best listmaker app :). I have a section for poetry and poetic thoughts. Quotes from books, beautifully written descriptions, evocative words etc.
I love your videos and blogs Melody! I just think you are so interesting! I’ve always had a research list as well! Ive also done extensive research on Stanley Kubrick too!!! So much symbolism in The Shining right!?
Btw, is Pat a minimalist too? :) I don't see many cat toys in your videos. I had 3 cats, but 1 spunky senior cat is left. I keep some past toys for memories. We have several cat scratching posts around house, basket of toys and her cat tower. Would love to see how you organize Pat's stuff, while leaving some out for her, when you leave house.
Is there a way to add lots of ‘handouts’, worksheets? Also, can the TUL paper go through a printer to add common headlines, etc, or does it appear that the paper would jam the printer? Love my TUL notebook, btw..Thank you!
Hello. Im a new subscriber. Those rings are being sold at craft stores. There very popular on youtube with peple making Junk Journals and such like it. They customize theirs with colored paper and lots more, not your minimalist style. BUT you can get more of just those binder rings sold separately if you want. Most people use a hole punch also on plain paper if needed to ad, or a look of a magazine page you want to ad, with a whole punch...etc.
The Martha Stewart discbound collection works with the TUL collection. The colors are right up your alley too m.staples.com/Martha-Stewart-Discbound-Customizable-Notebook-Letter-Sized-51060/product_2597250
Dear Melody, lives your video. You have helped my life be of more quality and that's amazing! You're on my love page 💖 love personality sistems also 🎆 have you tried dyt (dressing your truth)/ living your truth personality typing system from Carol Tuttle. Love that one so much! It helped a lot to understand others.
Your organizational system most certainly looks very tidy, pretty & uncluttered, but lists are just not my thing, especially on paper. Digitalization simplifies the process of organizing various aspects of life - you could just delete, cut, copy & paste everything at any given point in time and it should remain neat and tidy. Moreover, it saves MUCH time and time is an especially precious resource to be wasted :).
Thanks for the video! In sha Allah i will try to make these lists. By the way, if you're planning to learn a new languange, i recommend you to try arabic. It's veeery beautiful. Seriously. I'm actually currently studying it too. It's hard and challenging, but trust me, once you're deep enough to feel the beauty, it will leave you speechless. I also recommend you to watch motivation lectures, and one of my favorite lecturers is called Nouman ali khan.. Hope you'll find it helpful, love your videos
Melody, you need to move somewhere else to video. It looks like your head it growing a plant from your brains. Please don’t be offended. Just trying to improve on your videos. 😊
Melody dear, i love you & your ideas but please refrain from banging on the table when talking, its very distracting & annoying. .. you've inspired me to dust off my old disc binders & give them another chance.
I hope you come back Melody. Love your vids.

I think I got almost as excited as you when you first said "fully customizable notebook"! CHILLS AND GOOSEBUMPS! =D

Love this! This type of notebook used to be sold by one company and was very expensive. It's so nice that they are more available now!
I just got this exact same notebook recently, and I felt the same way!! It's so amazing!
It's also really great for bullet journaling, which is what I got it for, because they sell regular striped pages and also dotted pages.
Don’t forget to buy the special hole punch made for style ! Michael’s has them too ! I went crazy when I found this a few months ago !!!
Thanks Melody! I love the notebook! Just what I've been looking for too! Thanks for sharing, as I have been following your minimalist living I have changed my life around, always trying to declutter and cut down! Thanks again !
Can you do video about your books that you read please?
This is such great information, amazing you have such wisdom at such a young age. Thank you so much Melody.
Love you Melody! You're like the smart big sister I never had. Although I may be older than you. Haha!
Natalia Shine aww! She’s great! I think an older soul. I feel similarly about Melody and I’m 31. :D
i just bought this last night (junior leather one)! and i thought i was crazy for being so excited about it, but i am so glad to see i’m not alone!

TUL pens are excellent too! I use their fine tip and I love them.
I love those notebooks! I use it for work to organize all of my sites and it’s perfect for travel. And I even have a version as my planner!
I really want to know about your Stanley Kubrick project.

Love it! For years I used a Levenger (the original notebook like yours, but way more expensive). It was always my favorite.
That is amazing!

I keep a list of what to pack for trips.

Hi, Pat.
This looks like an ARC notebook from Staples. I use mine for my lists for the library.

🤣Found this when I started back to school in January! Excellent notebook!!
Excellent points!
Have you heard of the Happy Planner? It has a similar discbound system as well
What's "beet lip" on your "Other" list? Natural beet lipstick? I'm interested.
Yes, it's lipstick, liner and gloss made from beet juice. I've seen it somewhere, maybe Whole Foods.
Jessic Landi Bea Johnson of Zero Waste Home has a DIY beet lip stain. Yay for beets!
Thank you
Is there a way to add lots of ‘handouts’, worksheets?
Also, can the TUL paper go through a printer to add common headlines, etc, or does it appear that the paper would jam the printer?
Love my TUL notebook, btw..Thank you!
I’d be interested in hearing more about how to make these lists.
How cool it is to move the pass around! Do you know if these pages come in grid lines? I personally prefer grid over blank :)
