About Trailmakers:
In the toughest motoring expedition in the universe, you and your friends will build your own vehicles to cross a dangerous wasteland. Explore, crash horribly, use your wits to build a better rig, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find on your way.
Welcome to the Ultimate Expedition!
Journey over grueling mountains, hazardous swamps, and bone-dry deserts on a distant world far from civilization - it is just you, your fellow adventurers and the amazing, jet-powered hover-buggy you built yourself. Explore, crash your vehicle, build a better one, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find along your way.
Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

funny how speed sensors uses a wind meter thing in space
We just gonna pretend that it isn't one lol
I’ve asked the devs about that lol
IRL you would need to calculate the speed using reference points. A bit like a GPS where each planet is a "satellite".
MOTION SENSOR=SPEED SENSOR
IN TRAILMAKERS
@@Liam-yf7sl what?
the difference between what you are doing and a rudder is that you are killing the orthogonal velocity rather than redirecting it
It is redirecting orthogonal velocity into forwads velocity. Every time the vehicle isn't pointed directly sideways the orthogonal velocity is transformed into forwards or backwards velocity
@@kacperkonieczny7333 The ship turns faster than the thrusters can correct. If he turns 90 degrees, the 'rudder' thrusters will push directly against his direction of motion, removing all of his speed instead of preserving it.
If the thrusters were strong enough to divert his course as soon as he turns even a single degree, they would apply more force in the desired direction.
TLDR; The thrusters push in the intended direction at start of a turn, but end up pushing against the majority of the vehicle's momentum for most of the turn.
To make a rudder he should have placed the thrusters behind the center of mass
@@VascoCC95 I see what you’re going for, and there’s a way it would work, but that’s not the idea he was going for here.
That would apply angular resistance, like a rudder, but would increase the mechanism’s complexity almost exponentially. Limiting it to axial-aligned thrust means not having to worry about the radial movement.
Im going to simulate touching grass without touching grass.
I wanna simulate a girlfriend without getting one
Tell me you haven't touched grass without telling me you haven't touched grass
I Play valorant
Guess it's time to boot up Grass touching simulator
@@Mounteverest_ AI it is!
Congratulations, you've simulated Space Engineers flight mechanics.
I built mine for both gravity and space... It's not that hard/harder. It's the same, just have a couple more thrusters.
I also used the other weaker thrusters, so it's not really that bad.
See, these are just initial dampers. If you built a backwards slowing, you can swing your vehicle into a turn to get more of a proper feeling. Also try to have just a toggle for your forward breaking thrusters. Then you have a cruising option for trying to maintain a speed. I dont play trail makers but I do play space engineers and we have to build directional thrusters as well as enough gyros to properly turn.
Idea:
A battle where you can only shoot each other when you are at supersonic speed, should make a pretty cool and challenging build and battle.
Should be easy to do with speed sensors, and can be done with many different types of vehicles( so you could even make it a series if you want)
I hope you like it!
This just makes me think of when you turn of inertial dampeners in space engineers. It is the same thing technically.
Video idea: detachable hoverpads over water with emps
Great idea
to add to this. Hoverpads on a helicopter servo won't sink as they're always in motion. meaning they can make the fight drag on a little longer if they're worried that it'll end too soon
Also u don’t need detachable blocks to do this because they have already done it where they shoot emps at the hover craft blocks and they turn off so they They sink.
This video is exactly what I have been looking for for a long time. Finally I can stabilise a remote controlled missile without a quantum rudder and no more annoying and visible tracers that could betray the missile .Maybe you could also include episodes with remote controlled stuff (e.g. torpedoes, missiles or spy satellites in battles/competitions with Yzuei) in your videos. Love your channel, always gives me inspiration :) .
I think in one of the earlier videos one of the guests demonstrated you can disable the trails by coloring it black.
@@pcenero i can confirm, i been using black rudders since then for that reason, no trail
@@pcenero Unfortunately, there is sometimes a white trace, although you colour both parts of the quantum rudder black.
@@Nostramadus there's a glitch where sometimes your rudder trails gets colored incorrectly
to fix that just press repair
I've tried to do the exact same thing the day space update came out, and I found it works way better when you connect the gyros to the speed sensors and use thrusters to controll the spacecraft.
You don't need to connect the gyros if you place the thrusters behind the center of mass
The quantum rudder adds drag, but also converts the sideways thrust into forwards thrust. so each speed sensor also needs to trigger one thruster going forward, for it to be more similar, not just to cancel the existing side thrust.
Make wings with thrusters facing down activet when moving forward and also the fins
fun fact. a plane i built that didn't use quantam rudders worked really well in space with regular ailerons for pitch and roll. it even had wing blocks
i feel like a space battle without quantum rotor, like this and with EMP would be fun :D
This is an interesting concept build... and an excellent lesson in using logic gates in Trailmakers for people like myself who have yet to play the game thanks to being technologically behind with our PC builds. I have a new PC, but am just getting around to setting it up today now that I have some vacation time... work is busy and I lack the energy for much beyond watching UA-cam after getting home.
Challeng idea a PvP no limit series in which you guys dueal without no limitations in every warfare know to trailmakers
There is the problem that you are always either speeding up or slowing down, since there is nothing stopping you from catching speed when the forwards engines are on. To make stable velocity possible, you could just put the backwards thrust system on toggle.
Now try to replicate space in atmosphere
That is called combining gimbal jets and the no-drag glitch.
Glitchless
I have created a ship using speed sensors as well. But i got full directional control using the same thrusters. And it can hover in gravity. Maby i should upload it on the workshop.
Hey scrapman, video idea, you and yuzei race building and flying starting on one planet and racing to all the others with of course no quantum mechanic blocks or gyros but only thrust based movement. I think it could be very cool
Scrapman, I don't mean to give you un-asked advice but I really want you to know that you can use ALT plus W/A/S/D to rotate a block.
I presume you already know this and your preference is using the mouse. Good day to you.
And you can also set a distance sensor to 0 distance and reverse the output to have an always on toggle.
@@W0B0Nno dude, I'm talking about the literal built-in feature that is a shortcut to rotating block while in buildmode.
@@locke_ytb And i am talking about the literal built-in feature to set a distance sensor to zero distance. What is your problem here?
Really cool build. Looks like some kind of huge V12 engine.
11:33 Btw, you could probably slow yourself down easily by zigzagging to make use of the side thrusters as extra braking power.
a race in space with no quantum rotor and with emp would be fun
You should do a space race with no quantum rudder. See who can build the most controllable spaceship and complete the course the fastest.
Could probably be more efficient by using the back opposite thrusters to turn nose faster and engaging back thrusters more in turn, like car drifting. A bit closer to normal space turning.
A hovercraft without hover pads I want to see that and is it cheaper in power cores in Trailmakers
Now imagine having to fuel that monstrosity...
It surprises me that you made a mechanism very similar or practically identical to one that I made, the only differences are that mine does work in environments with gravity and is larger.
Looks like an old school Robocraft 1 drone ppl used to build. Compact chunky box of thrust lol
You should do this same idea but for the different atmospheres from the different planets
i would like to see a space battle with you using this idea and see what the others would come up with and obviously no rudder for the build
I remember building a 6 axis spaceplane with this concept. Because it was an irregular shape and i had controls for every direction, it took much longer and much more tweaking.
In retrospect, i probably should have made something as small as scrapman's ship first
idea for a video, make space rams so you have to worry about your ram and can only use melee attacks
An idea to make the space train you made go faster:
Maybe instead of having the train cars PART of the vehicle, make it so they’re its own vehicle.
Have it so you can lock the ‘coupler’ so it doesn’t wiggle so you can connect.
You could be able to add the quantum fins on them.
XOR gate with inputs: [thrust button] and [forwards sensor] should be a shortcut for that logic, right?
If neither, do nothing.
If moving forwards without thrust engaged, apply resistance.
If moving forwards with thrust engaged, do nothing.
If not moving forward but with thrust engaged, apply resistance. (Won't happen due to forwards thrust.)
Or just have the reverse thrusters linked directly to the speed sensor. Having them active while thrusting forwards wouldn't even hurt. It would just stop you from over-accelerating, which is easy to do without ample reference points, and makes it more difficult to change direction when you suddenly need to maneuver. Travelling at 50 and travelling at 200 can seem indistinguishably similar, until you try to turn.
Surely we could program some hinges or servos to redirect the force, using fewer thrusters
Seeing that the ship drifts a little when changing direction, do a space drift race on the asteroids
Multiplayer challenge idea: torpedoes with submunitions
Day 154 of asking Scrapman to play Besiege (again).
yall should do a dogfight in space but you cant use quantom ruders and you evolve the wining build its basicly a evoulution dog fight.
Video idea no quantum rudder, space race, or fight
10:54 That's a beautiful image!
Scrapman basically made a good vehicle for Space Engineers XD
Scrapman: i can't do logic stuff
Also Scrapman: 10:25
There is already a built-in vehicle for that! (SS Kerbal)
A second go at a "realistic" space dogfight with this strategy might be fun, especially if your forward momentum was limited so you didn't get up to crazy velocities.
Next vid: This concept but a battle :D
Yo it's the man of scrap
this is only KINDA realistic because on a real spaceship you'd try to minimize the need for changing velocity because that burns trough the onboard fuel reserve faster and shortens the burn time of the spacecraft by some ammount
of course that's far less of an issue with more eficient the engines but it won't entirely go away as long as there's a need to refuel yout spacecraft from time to time
Make the ultimate fighter jet combining both estetics and functionality
Do a battle with this concept please.
Bro basically just made the space engineers dampening system in trailmakers. At least here you have to worry about center of mass...
I made tie fighter that don’t need quantum Rudder it go zoom ( perfect weight distribution)
Omg hiiiii I luv your videos
Happy birthday Scrapman!
Hello love your videos
Reminds me of building spaceships in Space Engineers xD
Scrap man can you please play some more card life or volcanoids or please do some more nomad please i miss the old days
Do a battle in space with no quantum ruder
you should try to make a real life space craft and try to integrate this.
Mind as well play Space Engineers. It's just as empty.
now the question is, how do you measure speed in space?
how do speed sensors work in space cuz you can see speed sensors work true air flowing true the sensor but you cant do that with no air\atmosphere
and he says that he did it without magic but speed sensors are magic (in space) so he is a lair
EDIT: this is not a hate comment i really love vids keep up the good work
I just realized, the speed sensors have tiny holes with fans in them, meaning they determine your speed relative to an atmosphere and shouldn't work in space. ... I guess you're going to have to redo this with accelerometers. 🤷
I'm going to simulate a simulation without a simulation
how the F, does a speed sensor works in space?!
I miss main assembly
Plz upload scraps mechine vedio plz
