Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

IDEA: How about 2v2 vehicles, but you must be tethered to your teammate with a string of these low strength couplers?
You could also do that with any vehicle

In all of these challenges, melee has always been off the table, but I'd like to see a battle where you're strictly only allowed to use melee so it'd be interesting to see how you'll design a functional melee weapon
Theyve done this in the past but it would make a great vid after all the recent updates
They could even combine this concept with the top comment (2v2 but the teamates are tethered together with the power couplings)

Got this idea the other day, for an evolution challenge with a twist. I've called it a mutation challenge and the basic idea is, you do a race, a dogfight or battle bots like regular evolution, but each round you keep your own vehicle and you pick a random "mutation". Those could be positive like additional wheels, or shields or negative like i.e. +100kg in front when building a plane or big wheels on the left and small on the right side.
Then you have 2 or 3 min and additional power cores and block limits to implement that mutation in your creation.
I think battle bots or king of the hill would work best with this concept.
I like the idea, especially if the winner of the round picks the mutation and it's everyone else's job to interpret and implement it!
Well, my original idea was that everyone gets his own random mutation, but it could work your way too

I think what ScrapMan failed to realize, was that the recoil tossing his weapons around, was overcoming the fact that his aiming was targeting empty air. So he was getting good hits at random lol. With the no recoil blasters, he hit nothing... TBH, not sure how Yzuei didn't have the same issue in that first round.
im assuming Yzueil was getting hits because Scrapman's drones were being tossed around. Doesnt matter if they are aiming for the donut hole, when the drones keep dancing into said hole

I have an idea, make a battle with a creation orbited by its weapons horizontally, (so the weapons are connected with power couplers and spin around your build) this adds an interesting challenge with logic because you have to make your guns not shoot at yourself, only the ones on your side and front of you will shoot when gets on your back to automatically disable.
I feel like the flopiness is helping him in this fights, because his Center of Mass is constantly changing, making his opponent miss more.

so, for scrapmans, the way to avoid the floppiness is to have three or more points of attachment that aren't in line with each other, so using the large steering hinges and 2 by 4 blocks to create a 2 by 4 area and putting 1 coupler at each corner would have made it significantly less floppy

@@Mazapine recoil couteraction is one thing (the tank cannons have some MASSIVE recoil), and another thing is probably just seeing a f*cking tank fly

should have added at coupler with a anchor so you could attachc the bottom together and it wouldnt be that floppy.

I'd rather build it in a square shape (one drone in each corner and each middle of the side) and then use hinges to round it up

I genuinely wonder if it's possible to make actual drones in Trailmakers, using logic blocks and sensors. A fight like that might be pretty neat, where the mother ship's only goal is to evade the other person's drones.
I don't have the game (poordom~) but reading from the wiki, it seems like you'd use Angle Sensors to line the drones up with the enemy, and distance sensors to have them move in close and hold back at a certain distance (to avoid melee) 🤔

I want to see helicopters made with the power couplings! It would be interesting to see how they react, plus having the propellers floating in the air above the creation but still providing lift sounds sick!

Seeing Scrapman's drones flooping around reminds me of the segmented arms of Project NIGHTMARE from Metroid Fusion/ Other M.

Not gonna lie I miss your old builds where everything you made was basically just a big cube with some wedge pieces, but it was like insanely overpowered

Couldn't you have made a square with the power couplers and just angled some parts with the steering hinges to make a "circle"? Like on the last ydib episode
Yeah, since he already experimented in the fighter squad battle, I'm surprised he didn't default to the same method here. I know they're building on a time limit, but with a bit of planning ahead an octagon is evenly divisible (Cockpit on top, 6 guns, and an extra dummy section on the bottom all at 45 degrees, or 22.5 if there's a hinge on either side of the coupling)

Maybe make a melee only challange, where you surround your drone in mini unarmed drones/pieces and ram into eachother
these builds came out to look futuristic. they should build with a random theme to their builds like "a midevil helicopters"
Cool idea would be to use the power coupler as a rope to tow or fly something to a destination
An EMP version of these coupling battles might be interesting. I wonder if having them on toggle will cause a light show if they're hit by an EMP... hmmm...
I had this idea recently, which I thought could turn out pretty cool. You could build some arresting wires, set them up on the aircraft carrier and try landing a plane with a hook into them
love the aesthetics on the cockpit. would make for a good podracer design.
our guy just did a scrap mechanic about turning a square into a circle but completely forgot it was possible.
i know its harder in trail makers but even is he just a made a square with a blank pod in the center bottom it would have accomplished exactly what he was going for.
You need to test at some point if angle sensors at the end of a few power couplers actually changes its angle as it flops around.
You could have put and anchor block on last weapon on each end.The idea is when the weapons make the 30 degree arch when each end hit one another the anchor blocks would activate holding each side together making a circle
Now how about a motorcycle gang war/racing? Everyone builds motorcycles connected with invisible power couplers, one weapon per motorcycle. The quantity of vehicles could be 6 like with these drones, or it could be whatever you guys decide. All the rules from the previous races (like the pod race) should fit. I feel like this could be fun. Kinda mad max style groups of vehicles high speed chase/battle. Hope you like the idea!
I feel like Scrapman forgets what he does in previous challenges because he could have put pistons to connect the arches to make them more stable.
The power couple is to long
I feel like you could've added hoverpads to the last weapon platform on each side and then connected them with power couplings and possibly added gimbles to each platform for stabilization if needed
Hearing the initial explanation, first thought: hope there's a drone frigate design a la Homeworld 1, each drone connected to the main ship, with perhaps overlapping shields on said drones.
How about a bunch of drones that each only have one component? One has gun, one has engine, one has left wing and another has right wing.
A race with attached cars would be fun too haha

I would like to see a build challenge where you both have to build things in the same area, utilizing the glitch you just experienced today, where you can't both build in the same location
To make a circle you may be able to use anchor block and a small cube so when they flop together they latch and become a complete ring.
Suggestion.
Train Battle like those you have done in the past BUT instead of adding more carts, start with 3-4 carts each connected by power coupler and add an additional power coupler each round. Make the rains get real long and floppy
I think you guys should try building a paraglider like vehicle where you have a wing overhead connected to a lower vehicle that provides the thrust. Use power couplers like the cables between the two and if it works, then battle!
I wonder if ya coulda doubled up your Couplers if ya had used Large Hinges oriented up and down instead of the Steering Hinges...?

Idea: drone swarm BUT the drones detach to hit the enemy individually (auto-drones)

IDEA: use the couplers to make a crossbow type vehicle that points up and launches at your opponent. Similar to your surface-to-surface video where you had thruster rockets. Do the same but use the power couplers as the launch force

You should do a paraglider race with the new electric rope stuff and put a small car at the bottom and some sail or wing blocks for the chute part and have some thruster to keep you going
you guys should do hibrid battles. like how would there drones go against a plane?
for your next plane/space ship battle you can have to two trailing guns(with invis couplings) with small wings or something that are laterally and vertically offset so your opponent's auto aim, aims behind you
Challenge idea: a row of ships connected by a few couplers (for stability reasons) basically fleet battle (have one command ship and several other ships following it)

With the drone building to attach both ends together do a short pile with spike on the end
The COM is dynamic, it moves with the individual parts
Use the power coupling for the space train.
You could have just made the drones into a square for extra support, with maybe some hinges to turn it into a circle for aesthetics.
If you guys do something like this again, it would be fun to see an EMP round just to see what would happen.
Also, another challenge using power couplings is the Wrecking Ball Battle. Build a hovering pod thing and have a heavy, durable ball hanging below it. It must use four couplings set to the lowest stiffness (or whatever works best)
Do the same thing, but with ground vehicles, the idea is ; you basically use the power couplers to make like snake like column of vehicles, each ones got different weapons, different styles like one that will be used for defense purposes with shields and other ones with the real weapons or something
Scrapman you should test the power coupling's durability, its tensile, and bend strength (and idk if youve done this, but try putting 4 power coupling in a bundle and twist it)

Edit: By that I mean He probably could have connected the bottom ones with some sort of magnet system and a final drone onthe bottom (that couldn’t have a weapon)
You could build it like a square and then shape it with steering hinges
Maybe you could try submarines pulling hovercraft
do chariot racing with the power couplers next, I have tried and it worked wonders for me.

Scrapman, I have an idea. You could do a 2 v 2 with 2 cars verses a tank. I have the tank that you can use. The name is 229807. Also, you all build a car with whichever block and power core limit you think would be fitting. (This is just a suggestion so please don’t think that I am forcing you to do it).
Oh, and also the tank has two tiny cannons, and a tank cannon.

Refer to creation 1 of your recent ScrapMechanic YDIB video to fix your drones! Build it in a square that expands out to a circle.
Build a vechicle that launches a graple hook and throw's what ever has been grappled

You could have used the large steering hinge and put 2 of the where each normal steering hinge so you could have had 4 times the amount of power couplers making it 4 times the strength
I think you should do a spider web with those And maybe by applying pressure you could curve it end You should also try to make a slingshot.

you should have stacked them with two layers of power couplers so that its stable and compact and add thursthers on the guns

Broadside Challenge
Build dogfighting planes, but your guns can only face sideways. Bonus Challenge is using gunpowder cannons

Maybe a battle where you have a central cab, but all your thrust is on half strength power couplings.

Idea: Go into the gadgets tab and only use Metal Box launcher, Snowball launcher, Beach ball launcher and the Metal "fear me" Wall as weapons
idea refuling plane with a sticky block at a the end of a boom arm in the back and the main plane you build has a detachable block that needs to be hit and then some logic to make it like you are refuling and then detach the block so you are free to fly again take some inspiration maby idk somthing along those lines
