As she's crumbling away, he manages to grab hold of her power limiter ring. 3 months later, Akihito is still devastated and feeling destitute, and he's staring at the ring one evening, when the ring suddenly disappears before his eyes. He realizes what's going on and runs up to the school roof where they first met in EP1. She's there, her back turned to him. Hearing his footsteps, she turns around and smiles, and he hands her the red glasses she always wears. The anime ends.
