    As a city boy, and a Navy vet, Could you shoot a short video explaining how the Corn head actually works, as far as removing Kernels from the cob? And then one on the soybean head explaining how that works to extract the beans from the plants? I would appreciate it! TY in advance.

      Great idea

    • @julianwaldner6252
      @julianwaldner6252 6 років тому +4

      I’d be interested in how the corn head actually chops up the stalks, we don’t farm corn up here. The header doesn’t remove corn from cob that is all done in the combine. As for the bean header it cuts the plant stalk off very close to the the ground, the spinning reel keeps the the plants from falling forward once they’re cut, the auger then pulls the entire plant, pods and beans into the combine. The combine then does the separation/threshing. The headers only cut the crop, and feed it into the combine.

    • @navythomas8
      @navythomas8 6 років тому +1

      That is great information!

    • @techHmrk
      @techHmrk 6 років тому +4

      Header for corn removes cobs from the stalk. It is done by two cylinders, which holds the plant in between and as they are rolling, plant goes to the ground, and in this motion, stable knives removes a corncob. Rest of the plant is chopped by a small chopper, which is under every row on the header. It is because for combine it is hard (and unnessecary) to deal with tall and hard corn plant. Sorry, hard to explain in EN for me.

    The LED light draws much less amperage after it has gotten warmed up (which explain why it works the first time but not again shortly afterwards) and the digital light controller in the combine likely thinks there is a problem. The easiest thing to do is add another load to that circuit - maybe double up the LED lights or add the original light back on along with the new LED light. It is similar issue to why LED taillights lights retrofitted on a vehicle cause the blinker to malfunction (either blink rapidly or not blink at all) -- the LED lights do not put enough of a load on the blinker for it to work correctly.

    • @master180t
      @master180t 6 років тому +7

      KCautodoctor is correct but just head to autozone and grab a load resistor kit for taillights and spice one into the auger light wiring.

    • @GoldPicard
      @GoldPicard 6 років тому +2

      I've had that same problem on the many older used cars I've owned, because while I won't do too many changes to the car one of the things I always do is replace all the halogen lights with LEDs because of the reduced power draw and also that LEDs nowadays are amazingly reliable. But yeah because of the reduced power draw I usually have to add a resistor into the line or tie some lights together to increase power draw and not have the blinker problem.

    • @aleininger4987
      @aleininger4987 6 років тому +4

      Led lights cause goofy problems with computers when they expect a larger load. Had a customer with a mid 2000s suburban that he put led tail light bulbs in and it caused the cruise control to not work. That was a fun one to figure out.

      X2 for putting in a resistor.

    • @stubbi
      @stubbi 6 років тому

      Yup, same for my old bike. Needed a resistor or another LED. In this case as you need the light, I'd recommend another LED on the same circuit or a single, bigger one.

    Do you have any other LED lights in that combine? It is possible that you need to program the combine so it understands the low resistance of the led light and doesn't just think that the bulb is bad.

You should do one on how you troubleshoot grain loss, grain tank quality, and what to adjust to improve grain loss, unthreshed grain, grinding and damaging grain. I upgraded from a 9500 to a 9570 STS. I'm slowly getting the hang of fine tuning the settings but it's a totally different machine. Just a suggestion for a future video. Stay safe out there.

    LED draws alot less power. ECU Notices the load difference and takes it as a fault. A 6ohm resistor should work perfect. 6ohm at 12v will draw around 24watts. Your last light was probably around 30-40w so 24w resistor plus the 10ish watt LED you have should do just fine.

    Your LED light have different resistance than original light bulb and controller is disabling it due to mismatched values. Put separate wires to the LED light and re wire it thru relay and fuse . Unfortunately there is not much You can do. I know You can try to change address to make it work but small chance. They always seems to return to original address after about 20 seconds.

    If i had to guess you have a loose or corroded ground. I would check that first because its a quick easy check. Next, Grab your multimeter and check right near the led light check it when its not working to see if your getting 12 volts. If you got 12 volts when light isn't working then its the led fixture.

    We have two Deere 9870s, had three but traded one towards a 2016 s680, fallen in love with it, much better than the old ones with a pick up header, performs same on straight cut header but way smoother, quieter

    Hey. I know this is late, because harvest is over, but concerning the LED light issue on your auger, I wonder if your on board diagnostic isn't sensing enough of an amp draw on that light, and thinks the light is not working, because the incandescent light draws more power than an LED, so it won't allow power to that circuit the next time you unfold the auger? Deere may have something you can add inline to fool the diagnostic, or you could have them change that setting in programming, or run another circuit out to the light?? Just an idea.....

    i'm wondering about the Roundup thing. i heard lots of bad shit about Monsanto. i'd love to have an actual farmers insight on the issue. i hear monsanto sues you for witholding crops for reseeding and have very bad business practices overall. is reseeding even a thing nowadays or do farmers just buy seed every time? is roundup actually more profitable and how is it ecologically from a farmers point of view?
