    So what was the name of that grease gun again, and I bet you can't say it ten times fast.
    I watch Welker farmers. I had an uncle who was a farmer his son has the farm now. I would spend some of my summer's working on his farm and loved it. I wanted to be a farmer but it was way too expensive to buy land for farming, my dad was a carpenter and mom a nurse so no farm to pass down. It wasn't until I was a police officer for twenty years that I was able to buy my two hundred acres from a farmer that was retiring. He sold it to me for a very low price because I was willing to sign a contract stating the land would never be sold into development. I have since had the land put into the Ohio heritage program which means it can only be used for agricultural in it's perpetuity.

    • @davedunn2124
      @davedunn2124 6 років тому

      Art M One thing to consider is the floor is perforated with small indentions sticking up. The bins I’ve been around if you tilt the shovel too much it digs in and stops you. You have to keep it almost parallel to the floor. So snow shovel would be hard to use I think. 🤷‍♂️

    LED question for Zach: At first I wondered why JD would not use LEDs from the start. Then I remembered reading something about color temperature - a more yellow light cuts through fog better than a more white light. The LEDs are much more white in color. Could it be that the factory lights cut through field dust better?

    Wouldn’t you think the tall 🌽 is a genetic throw back from its near “original” corn.( similar to finding a black soybean) Corn when I was a kid was a lot taller than today’s variety or possibly a few kernels of silage corn got mixed in.

  • @stevep5408
    @stevep5408 6 років тому

    Have you ever detassled seed corn? A small number of "male" rows are planted in between a large number of "female" rows of corn in a alternating pattern across the half mile rows in Iowa. As the corn matures a mower that rides approximately 5-6 feet off the ground cutting the tassles off the female corn after which busloads of high school kids go through the fields removing any partial tassles that contain any partial pollen bearing stalks. The male rows pollenate the female rows and produce hybrid seed corn. The wild stalks are probably individual seeds produced from a bit of the "female" tassle dropping a grain of pollen on a single hair on the stalk leading down to the cob and imbred fertilizing that kernal

    Dont forget the WD40, with the new bendable head for those hard to reach places, also it helps you hold your UA-cam camera.

    Great video. I can remember our
    "Claas" harvesters were 140 grease nipple every day. Good to know that engineering has progressed.

    In crop production the large tall plants on our farm we call rogues. Usually they effect the quality of the seed so we have to go and chop them out in each field. But we grow seed corn so it could be something different.

    Have you considered one of those Tribine combines? I think they have a 1,000 bushel hopper. But so new on the market you don’t know how reliable they are or how hard or long it takes to get parts.

    One of our neighbors had their combine burn to the ground last night. He got hung up a bit but made it out ok. It was a newer Deere, haven't heard if they know a cause yet. Be careful

    Some people complain about supporter promotions...IF THE PRODUCT IS AWESOME, THE PROMOTION IS BOUND TO MAKE SOME FOLKS LIKE EASIER...ESPECIALLY OTHER FARMERS! I ENJOY THESE USER PROMOS...YOU KNOW THE ITEM WORKS...WELL.

    you should look for a old tow behind air compressor for cleaning off the tractors....a lot faster than the blower and you can keep back out of the crap

    Thanks for the commercial break, had time to make coffee. Auto grease system were all the go at one time, I wonder if there still used nowa days.
    Farming is like tunnelling you jump from one breakdown to another. The best tunnel shield I've operated had a water hydraulic shove ram system. When we were on the money and sprung a leak, we just threw the hose pipe in the tank and kept going. Couldn't do that with oil.
