Yeah, just seen this post. Doing as we speak a 12 Chrysler 200. Diagnosed it with a bad pcm. Internal voltage regulator. Failed and started the alternator to first cook the battery and then self destruct. Replacement pcm had the same problem so now wiring inan aftermarket heavy duty external voltage regulator and bigger resistor to the pcm to cut the battery light out. Pain in the ass as well.

I think that the alternator failed because the valve cover gasket is leaking onto it. You should replace the valve cover gasket too. You can see the dark stains above the alternator.
