1:38:18 - that's me yelling "YEAH", I was super excited for "Lurgee"
1:38:27 - that's me yelling "YEEAHH", again. I repeat: I was super excited for "Lurgee".

It's quite iconic how they ended the tour with "How to Disappear Completely," as if Thom is saying "Bye, I'm gone," tired of the fame and tour wanting to escape. I always found the OK COMPUTER tour iconic and inspirational.

What an epic way to end the OK Computer tour with a sneak peak into Kid A. Not to mention, a boatload of performances of rare B-sides.

This was the last show I ever waited outside a tower records all night for tickets to. I was 3rd in line, and the first show was sold out by the time the second person in line got their tickets. As I was standing there about to start crying, a second show went on sale and I was first in line. This was my first Radiohead show. I've seen them 30+ times since. This night changed my life forever. The longest and most rewarding love of my life.

saw them 24 times. starting July 95 ending 2008.
still love them but life and a full time job has kinda got in the way of rh following.
this was the furthest we went to see them. (from uk)
maybe it was jet Lagg or we were moody as first time not at the front!
But nevertheless great memories. .. I really want to see footage of 04/12/95
paradiso Amsterdam that was my most magical gig in many ways.
    Because we met them all.
and they had just told us that they had seen the street spirit video for the first time on the bus! And the venue was perfect small and friendly. I didn't like it as the venues got bigger after ok computer. but hey.
22 years later I still feel 19 just thinking about it.
thank rh. for good gigs. good records. please continue doing your thing. xx

I only saw them twice in 98 this and later amnestiy international in paris!
the atmosphere was insane at that one. it was like I imagine a Beatles concert to be like!

A snapshot of history. It's like they played all of these classics. The guitars sound cool too, very distinct and you can make out what each person is playing. Really cool. Thank you.

It blows my mind that this show is here. My late wife & I were at this show - I can't believe it's been over 20 years. If I recall, Spiritualize was the opening band. I have 2 distinct memories of this show - 1 - those blinding white lights during Airbag, & 2 - the show was LOUD! I've seen everyone from Aerosmith to Zappa & this ranks as one of the louder shows I've ever been to. Whoever taped this show - bravo! You obviously knew what you were doing - nice smooth & steady pans, tilts & zooms, & good audio too! Not bad for 1998!

Really good lighting in this show, really thought out. The person who did them definetly was a radiohead fan. (For example, the lights at the start of my iron lung literally CREEP in, or talk show host having the light constantly switching on the band members)

What a treat was that! They were all exhausted from the OKC tour but they did probably the best show from it and having those b sides and unreleased songs on a setlist makes this very unique concert. The best bend in the world for at least past 25 yrs. ❤❤❤

I remember this concert....I went to Radio City Music Hall that afternoon ticketless. I was still young, 33. My old girlfriend (L) & I had broken up. My new girlfriend (D) didn't show up, I stood outside with my Guild SG 100 & some effect devices in my bag. I could hear the band play Bowie's, A Space Oddysey during soundcheck. At one point, a microphone was lowered from a window & I kicked a lampost in saddness, then Nell came outside & said I could purchase a buyback ticket for $50.00. Later, Thom & co came out, Colin didn't sign an autograph..I spoke to Phil about Ride & Oxford. He grew impatient, so....no Jonny. The band crossed the street, I bellowed, Thom!, he squinted, shrugged his shoulders & crossed the street. I gave him a red marker to sign a pack of GHS boomers strings to sign, he said "Red"? I laughed, he signed his name with Minotaur head & left. Later I saw the show, sat in a front row VIP seat. 🙂, 20 years later, this June, still alive, I will see them perform again.

My first Radiohead concert and favorite show of all time, excluding the Tibetan Freedom at Randall's Island. The only one I've missed since then in the NY area was the $2 bill concert as I was living in Australia at the time. Greatest band of my lifetime, only band I think may eclipse them is the Beatles if looking at sheer volume of quality records and being ahead of their time experimenting.

There's actually PLENTY I would love to hear (not a "Pablo"-hater like most RH fans) but I must say, I love how "Lurgee" is one of the only songs from Album 1 that has continued to pop up now and then over the years in their sets...made a bunch of appearances in 2003, I believe in 2008 as well, and then...I feel like some "King of Limbs" shows, but I could be wrong. I remember a friend saw them at MSG on 1 of 2 nights, he was pissed cos he went on the "Lurgee" night instead of the "Creep" night, I was like...yer fuckin' crazy. Who wants a song you KNOW they don't want to be playing versus a hidden gem?

Was it the first night that they played Big Ideas (the version with two organs, brilliant)? And this is a rare, "They actually brought the Fender Rhodes" show!! Did they have it the whole tour?? Hearing "Planet Telex" et al with the actual Rhodes and all its depth and tone is amazing, usually they sub in a guitar (and do an admirable job), but it just ain't the same.

P.S. Nobody wants to say it, because then you're some kind of, unadventurous, popular-music loving, boring twiddlestick of a fellow...but god damn, they never touched these heights again, did they? They put out amazing records, wrote some of the greatest, alternately heartbreaking and uplifting, mind-bending songs of all time. They took shit from nobody (not even themselves). But they never again scraped the surface of the moon like they were doing here. The Beatles had "Sgt. Pepper", Pink Floyd had "Dark Side", The Clash had "London Calling". And 5 blokes from Oxford had something about, "Hey There Laptop"? Wot was it again? The walls of the venue made sure to take some mental notes, because history was unfolding.

Kid A and In Rainbows both incredible albums too. OK Computer may have been their best (matter of opinion), but they've had some incredible music since too

    • @mywhychromosome
      @mywhychromosome 4 роки тому

@@DonSops I love "Kid A"...and "Amnesiac", "HTTT" is a little uneven but has some of their best stuff, and I'm finally coming around to "IR" [I had seen them at a small venue road-testing future 'Rainbows' songs, and had bootleg of the show, so I really fell in love with those versions and was initially kinda irritated by the album takes...still gutted about "Videotape", lol], the last 2 records were few and far between as far as songs that really get under my skin. That said, tho, if every band has an inevitable part in the arc where they are reaching their highest level, I would argue this is it
