    "All crowdsurfers are wankers" is still my favorite Thom quote.

    • @thebreakfastmenu
      @thebreakfastmenu 7 місяців тому

      @jemimallah Eh. Out of context. He said no one who was boycotting Israel at the time was boycotting America for Trump despite being as much if not more vocally opposed to Trump because to them it's about sales, not about playing to fans. And he's right about that.
      Israel's government is evil, there's no question about that. Any government that has mandatory 2 year military service requirements for every citizen is unquestionably bad. That doesn't mean everyone born in Israel is bad, too.
      Bernie is probably the most Jewish politician in America and still opposes what Israel is doing. I don't think it's as black and white as "all Jews are evil zionists."

      The music makes fanatics and fanatics make the music. "Groupies are great: people need to understand that. They're great... They inspire you to write good songs." ---Mick Jagger 1972

    • @jasonlynn1017
      @jasonlynn1017 2 роки тому

      @@beautifullights8484 "Groupie" is not a harsh word at all, except for a pathologically uptight, Puritan society which hates sex and hates girls & boys who love it----especially, girls, apparently. What's harsh is this sick, vile era, harsh in its moralistic sadism of condemning people for pleasure and joy. The quote is from Mick Jagger himself. It was from 1972, when he stood for something. "Groupies" means those people whose souls are so shaken, so enlivened, so stirred to euphoria or melancholy by the music that they want to fuck and adore the maker of the music----that's noble, not the opposite. I despise the value judgements of contemporary America, and its Medieval self righteousness.

    This Radiohead recital is on a God level. I have heard it 3 times already and it is a unique experience. Thom Yorke a guy from another planet, his way of singing, performing, his total and great dedication. The other members simply excellent in their respective performances of their instruments. Radiohead a 21st century band that brings together nuances to be a band to be among the most influential.

    It's great seeing this show again. I was there with a great group of friends. We drove up from Champaign, IL - borrowed a friends car. David Gray was great as the opener. RE: Radiohead: I (we) were blown away at the power of the performance - seeing the material from "The Bends" executed with such precision and emotion was eye opening. I'll never forget that show.

    I have seen this recital not many times, but in the end I conclude that this band is definitely the biggest band of the 90s. Obviously there are others like Oasis, The Cure, Nirvana that made a great contribution, but Radiohead with their album " OK Computer ", were among the immortal groups in the history of world music.

    I consider myself a very knowledgeable person in music, especially from the 70s. This Radiohead band has nothing, but nothing to envy the bands of those years, who were the creators of all the musical movements that now endure. This Mr. Thom Yorke is a guy just a genius in his creations, his other colleagues who follow him in his band do it great. Radiohead is a band that has definitely stayed within the cool bands of the 20th and 21st centuries.

    Thank you infinitely for putting up one of the best shows I've ever seen of this or any other band. This music speaks to a lot of people. It feels like Radiohead's blazing zenith; and this 1996 tour should stand forever in Rock n Roll History. You can feel the blood burst in the music. If this group wrote only 5 songs: Creep, Lung, High, Bones, Fake Plastic, they would be one of the greatest of the past 30 years; these songs just shred the soul, and they arrived at a time when people still somewhat cared for having a soul; and what a savage, sickening irony that the force and fervor radiating here in these songs and that the sublimity they breathe are needed more now than ever, they are more apt even now in this era of the crucifixion of joy and tribal mania onto madness. (PS: The KRoQ Christmas Party at the Universal Amphitheater in LA (also w Sonic Youth, Joan Osbourne, etc.) was all-out euphoric , with or without cocaine, or morphine as the case delectable).

I talked to woman at the show that said she paid $300 for one ticket, this was there pre release exclusive show where they played never before heard music and collected cell batteries at the door, Gweneth Paltrow was even there. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Emerson Like and Palmer, Black Sabbath, etc. Pero en siglo XXI esta banda Radiohead, tiene aires y estilo antiguo, es decir eso de las bandas de los 70's. Excelente el señor Thom Yorke y su banda, buen sonido, buen estilo.

    Call me a hipster, but I really think their most interesting music was made between 94 and 96. Some of the arrangements on their songs back then could be so dynamic, especially with the 3 guitars at the same time. Those also happen to be their best batch of B-sides which could give their A stuff post OK Computer a run for its money. What is funny is that I liked Kid A and amnesiac and HTTF, but when I first heard In Rainbows, I remember thinking, "this was the album I was hoping to hear 3 albums ago. "
