Steve Williams plays Rosanna by Toto

- Hey All! Yes back with yet ANOTHER Rosanna drum cover on UA-cam. I figured I would take a stab at it myself. This is NOT a "note for note" drum cover to show that I know every subtle nuance and fill of the song. So for the Jeff Porcaro die hards out there, chill on the "you missed this and that" comments. This isn't that video.
However his feel and sound is heavily influenced to maintain the integrty and feel of the song which is most important. This is my interpretation of the song with my own personality. This is Steve Williams's approach.
This kit fits the song PERFECTLY as far as my ears are concerned. I took some time paying attention to his sound and this is as close as I could get. I used this kit on the JT cover and it had a completely different tone and cut to them, but with this tuning and heads, they take on a much fatter tone! Bubinga(this shell material) is GREAT for this sound. The snare drum is made of BAMBOO with 42 strand copper snares. All cymbals are ISTANBUL AGOP traditional series. The hats is a very nice combo to me Im using a 14in Thin crash on top and a 14in Sultan crash on bottom! Not as heavy as Jeff's hats but they sit well! Also using the Promark Active Grip acorn Tip 5A's (forward balance) as always, NO SOUND REPLACING used in mixing!

NICE JOB - You've got all the foundational elements down solid. Seeing your skill, I wouldn't imagine it will be all that difficult to work in the ghost-note subdivisions within the groove. (Cuz you know, the drummers in the audience will all be silently looking for them and critiquing you in their heads - LOL). Honestly, your groove was so solid I don't even think it matters - simply icing on the cake if you eventually work them in. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK !!!
I can see he plays the ghost notes in the 2nd verse. In the actual recordings Jeff doesn’t start the ghost note shuffle until about halfway into the 1st verse
Hahahaha yeah that’s why I gave the disclaimer that it wasn’t a note for note cover lol you know they’re lurking about
THANKS MAN!! SORRY IM SO LATE LOL
Yeah he did. Props on the recording too. sounds Excellent.
That was great,I really liked how you kept jamming at the end. I didn't want you to stop,
Niiiiice!! Like your additions a lot.
