We are on a remote shoreline on the "Garden Isle" of Kaua'i. LGF Hall-Of-Famer "EJ" Bukowski hooks us up with his friends for a sunny day of fishing for Moi!
In pre-contact Hawai'i, Pacific Threadfin (Moi) was the prized fish reserved only for Hawaiian Royalty to consume. Today they are just as special and often appear on upscale restaurant menus in the islands.
This fishing activity is called "dunking". Hooks baited with fresh Tako (Octopus) or Tohei (White eel) are launched with a lead weight into the ocean. Eventually hungry Papio (Trevally), Moi (Pacific Threadfin) and O'io (Bonefish) take the bait!
