Hello Melissa. Great content. If I may ask, for an individual with a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration, how long would it take to complete a nursing degree?

Thank you! And it would take anywhere from a year to four years. Really, it doesn’t matter what previous degrees you have so much as it matters what relevant prerequisites you have completed, and what type of program you are able to find.
A traditional nursing program is four years for a bachelors degree and two years for an associates degree. There are accelerated BSN programs that you can finish in as little as a year, but those programs are typically very intense and very expensive. Direct entry MSN programs are also popping up. With these programs, you have to already have a previous degree in something (it usually doesn’t matter what). A lot of the direct entry MSN programs are about two years, and you finish with a masters degree and nursing and you will be able to sit for your boards to become a registered nurse.
But with most of the accelerated/ condensed BSN programs, and even with the associate degree programs, they want you to finish your prerequisite courses before entering the program. So they may advertise that a program is only one year or two years, but it may take you an additional year or two prior to starting the program just to complete the pre-requisites. Most nursing programs want you to have completed biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, etc., all within five years of you getting accepted into their program.
I know that was long lol. The short answer is that depending on your particular situation, what programs are in your area, and how current your science credits are… it would realistically take you anywhere from a year and a half to 5 years to complete a nursing degree.
      Hope this helps 😊
