"The Emperor greeted Guilliman not as a father recieves a son, but as a craftsmen who rediscovers a favourite tool that he thought lost. He behaved like a prisoner locked in an iron cage who is passed a rasp. Guilliman had no illusions. He was not the man who brought the rasp; he was the rasp." This doesn't really strike me as a being that outwardly cares for humanity. if i had to guess the emperor truly only wants to give the impression that he cares about humanity while using them as a shield to deflect the Dark Gods that assailed him. he sees himself as the protagonist, and let those around him think whatever they wanted if it suited his goals and crushed the ideals of those that went against it.
Today I had an interaction that surprised me: Dreamer psyker told a Cadian background veteran that he should stop blaming himself for what happened to Cadia. That his "beloved" didn't blame him and that he doesn't want the veteran to torture himself over it. It was strangely heartwarming.
I love genius psyker personality (only played as female one, but i assume male is the same). She is so surprisingly nice, no wonder inqisition got her locked up
My Psyker got arrested for sedition. The Manufactorium overseer overheard her complaining about the food tasting bad. All she said was the food was shit, now she is being treated like trash by the Inquisition.

The chaos gods only have as much reach and influence as their followers reach. In 40k Gods are just really powerful beings not the whole I create worlds bask in my greatness thing we associate woth Gods. Like the greek gods or the christian god.

Insulating one's self in the rational was how to avoid being fooled, seduced, or otherwise manipulated by daemons/the Dark Gods and their false promises.

My head cannon is that it's a prankster fragment of the big E that has taken a liking to the psyker and chats with them because as a minuscule fragment of the whole soul of the big E, what can they do aside from wait for the bigger pieces to come fetch it?
I think you're pretty spot on. I'm sad there's not more online discourse over the game meta-narratively revealing that the Beloved-voice in The Psyker player's head is the same entity that sits on The Golden Throne vis a vis the Emperor himself.

It takes a lot of play time, and a lot of just-right character class combos, but your character eventually reveals a whole wealth of information, such as their (the Beloved's) physical body being stuck on The Golden Throne, and their perspective on Horus, and the Horus Heresy, and a whole bunch of other topics. They (the Psyker PC) can even get into an argument with the Preacher--Zealot over whether or not it's really The Big E. I really hope someone who is more tech-savvy ripped out all the game files to compile all the relevant dialogue for each character. There's a lot of really excellent Easter eggs, even with the dialogue being half baked, on the whole.
I play Darktide sometimes for the sole reason of digging up more juicy dialogue like this. Some things they say really come out of left field and have me in stitches!
The savant is probably the goodest personality. Followed perhaps by the professional Veteran. Who seems to have more of a genuinely decent personality compared to the lawful good personality of the Savant. Neutral good I guess. Ogryn Brawler and Bodyguard are pretty good too.
The Loner Psyker is definitely the most "Human" character, being brutally honest and cynical about the Imperium. Would honestly like to watch a series about a Psyker joining the T'au.

The way these characters talk about the universe is incredibly immersion-breaking sometimes. They're openly critical of power structures in a way that implies a degree of liberalism that simply does not exist within the Imperial military, the inquisition or any other power structure. These are the thoughts they would keep to themselves, especially knowing they're being watched and recorded. Fatshark is definitely too scared to go all out on the Grimdark. They've got the visuals down but the Ogryn doesn't sound mentally handicapped enough and the fascism isn't brutal enough, or when it is it's tongue-in-cheek. It's season 8 GoT, I want season 3 GoT.
God I love the psykers. The endless sarcasm and saying heretical shit, it's amazing. Not to mention they're all completely fucking unhinged. Plus the fact that sanctioned psykers are actually very well educated and trained, at least by imperium standards and especially compared to the average guardsmen and a random psudeo-intelectual fanatic preacher.
Sanctioned Psyker usually came from respected well mannered High level houses on the planet since childhood so I guess Sarcasm must’ve learned during childhood 😂😂😂😂😂
@jakegray1723 VT2 is great but yes, crude compared to VT1. VT1 felt like there was dialogue for every world situation. Anytime saltz entered a room, there was something to say. But you don't get much of that in VT2. Just "Hoggers Bridge...." on repeat.

I wasn't a fan in the beginning, because taking Krubers GK shittalking Saltzpyre as a baseline won't ever get you happy again anywhere else xD Watch Gatlee's other 8min vids and play some, there are tons of great moments.. I'm actually enjoying playing with randoms just for the banter between different personalities sometimes lmao
Am I the only one who finds Loner annoying? They have that sneering attitude that makes you wish friendly fire were in the game. It's like Kerillian but without the charm or depth. Then again, none of the backgrounds really have much depth.
