2024 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Review: Jurassic Without the Park

- Let’s test drive and review (and LAUNCH!) the 2024 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat!
The Hellcat engine is Dodge’s halo V8 of the 2010s and early 2020s. In the 2024 Durango Hellcat, it’s a 6.2-liter, supercharged HEMI V8 that makes 710 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque in stock form. That power goes through an 8-speed automatic transmission to all 4 wheels, because the Durango Hellcat is all-wheel drive (AWD) instead of rear-wheel drive (RWD) like many other Hellcats.
The Durango Hellcat is a massive, 7-seater, widebody SUV with cargo space for the whole family. In spite of the size and space, the 710-HP Hellcat’s launch control is wild: The car squats down and launches toward the horizon, acceleration pinning you to your seat while the Hellcat screams with its famously loud supercharger whine. The sound of the car ripping up to speed and its exhaust wailing behind you is incredible.
The Hellcat has a full range, from the Dodge Challenger and Charger to the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The nameplate came around in 2015 on the Challenger SRT Hellcat (available with a manual transmission!), and it’s been the base for many special-edition models over the years, like the Hellcat Redeye. (The only one we didn’t get was a Pacifica Hellcat from the factory, which is sad. Maybe Stellantis will change that and I can delete this sentence someday.)
The 2024 Durango SRT Hellcat has a base price of $95,995, and there are a few trim levels. The car in this video is the Hellcat Premium All-Wheel-Drive, and that brings the total price to $109,190. The car is still for sale new, but there’s not much time-if you’re thinking about buying one, it’ll be gone soon.
In this video, we’ll cover: driving and interior impressions; what it’s like to take the car on a road trip; the evolution of the Durango and the Hellcat engine; and what the future holds for Dodge and performance cars.
Thanks for watching my UA-cam channel. Enjoy the drive (and the video)!

I watched Jurassic Park in its entirety the night before filming this so that I could get the intro perfect. Hope you all love it!
@@AlanisKing literally 11/10, no notes
@@hermatred572 THANK YOU
That was my favorite part
The look of utter joy on your face while using the launch control is priceless.
It’s so much fun. Truly
The SRT Hellcat is a bona fide American icon, and I wish it didn't have to go away.
Same : (
Instead of watching, I played this in my car as I was driving and as a result I really noticed how well the audio production is on this video (and your others) with special shout out to the great voice over and script!
It was a great tribute to the Hellcat in its final form 😎
Ahhhhh thank you so much! We appreciate that! We try to make it really beautiful
The video work, backstories, and music on your reviews have always been excellent, but can we take a moment to appreciate your scripts and narration? Another awesome review--thanks, Alanis!
This means a lot. We try to be better every week. Thank you so much!
I thank Hellcat owners of all stripes for their contribution to my retirement every time they floor it at the green light.
The Hellcat Duragon. For when you need to help out Dominic Toretto in a Fast and Furious movie while the kids are at Soccer practice. The Family car.
So true
Allegedly Alanis has never been happier
Hellcat is a highlight of life
good to see you early, alanis!
Good to see you too : )
This was an incredible "nostalgic" review. I really do hate that these are going away. Especially with so many being wrecked and stolen. Unmolested examples are going to command a hell of a premium a couple of decades from now
Ahhhhh thank you so much!
I'll be waiting for the Hellcat powered minivan review Alanis! 😄
I can only hope 🙏🙏 thank you always, Francisco
When I was a little kid, if I told another kid that his mother wore Army boots, the fight would be on (-; How times have changed. Go job granddaughter. Thumbs up (-:
The music fits perfectly
I totally agree
Surprisingly, Dodge isn’t quite done with the V8 Durango. They’re gonna do a few “last call” Durangos like they did with the Charger and Challenger. One of these last call models will be the 2025 Durango Hammerhead. The Hammerhead is essentially just a cosmetic package with the same 710hp as the current Durango Hellcat, but maybe they’ll also make a Demon 170 equivalent of the Durango
Yeah, they announced the Hammerhead after we filmed this video! Durango is still, hilariously, the last Hellcat standing
I totally forgot that Hellcats have the supercharger whine, and when you started driving it, I got all giddy and happy lmao 🤣 (just something about Dodge that makes me so happy)
It's the best!
I love the red seats!
They're SO pretty
You nailed that intro! Wish I could do that! That’s another stellar video down!
I remember the 1st 2 generations like it was yesterday so yes I’m that old! But my favorite Dodge will always be the Viper!
The Viper is literally soooooo cool
@@AlanisKing Hell yeah it is!
Proper music for such a bonkers vehicle!
The music is PERFECT
I drove a hellcat once, lost the back end, then almost lost my back end...😂
Literally!
Great review Alanis. Loved the background music. Cowboy hat was a nice touch.
Thank you so much for watching. Appreciate you!
Great reviews as always..
Thanks Jeff 🤠
Loved this review with the history of the Hellcat engine! This is my dream car!
Unpopular opinion: I like this more than the Trackhawk
It’s so much sillier than the Trackhawk!
@@AlanisKing they perform the same but I like the meaner look of this and the louder exhaust, it’s more of a raw look and feel
Excellent review, epic intro! 🦖
Thank you SO much
I'm so sad that we're near the end of the modern high performane V8 in random vehicles. They'll live on in trucks and the occasional Mustang, but I'll miss Hellcats.
I'll miss Hellcats sooooo much
Almost as fast as roller coasters 🎢
Six Flags next month!
@@AlanisKing 😍😍😍 I’m so excited
Still upset they didn't make a Hellcat Pacifica...
Me too!
This is such a good vid
Thank you : )
Wow such a cool car
Another awesome video, Alanis! It would be awesome if you could get a Cadillac Escalade V for review to compare it to the Durango Hellcat (even though the Escalade is at a higher price point).
You know, I’ll have to see if there’s one in Texas! Thank you for watching!
I've seen these things trash muscle cars on the road. Sad to see them being killed off. 10/10 hats today. That one suits you.
Thank you 🤠
Wondering what Uncle Bob has to say about the cowboy hat.
Good review of the brontosaurus.
He will absolutely love it. Thanks for being here!
I would love to see a hellcat swapped first gen Durango. Talk about a sleeper.
MAJOR sleeper
Personally insulting that Stellantis has yet to gift an Alanis-spec Hellcat then make you Global brand ambassador. . .
Maybe someday 🫡🫡🫡
Hard to believe this gen/platform is 13 years old!! 👴🏼👵🏻
But you nailed it, a future collectible for sure!
Can you imagine folks in 20-30 years being like “why the hell did they put this engine in THAT?!” 😂
They'll be totally bewildered! And we'll be the old folks saying "I remember when that was new"
You know what else has a foot parking break that you can stomp on? An old Prius 😜
Let’s gooooo
Let’s go Alanis. Good to see the hat is back in action
Me too! I love it
11 MPG = 'Merica!! 🦅🦅
11!
Great review. $109k is a big nope for me. if I wanted an SUV with a snorty supercharged V8 I'd save myself a near BRZ amount of money and look at a Jaguar F Pace SVR Would be curious to see an Alanis review of one of those.
Thank you so much for watching! I haven't seen many Jaguars in the Texas press fleet. I'll have to ask for one!
I don't know if supercharger noises are as fun as turbo wastegate shenanigans?
Turbo shenanigans are more fun to me, but the Hellcat whine is so famous and beloved that it's really fun to hear
@@AlanisKing especially when it's an end of an era.
Isn’t that what a muscle car supposed to be? Overpowered and overly excessive. I appreciate Dodge for giving the muscle car one last chance before the EPA made it impossible to build these.
That's exactly what it's supposed to be!
And nice cowboy hat scooby
OMG HI! Thanks for being here!
No problem love these videos they are so good
Nice
: )
What is the sticky note for on the gauge cluster? Thanks for another great review!
My notes for the review! Minimizes distraction while driving on curvy roads. Thanks for watching!
@@AlanisKing Great idea! Especially with over 700hp!
Teach me how to Dougie.
I feel like I'm getting recommended on one of Doug's videos today
Yes, my brothers, I want 2 Alanises stacked on top of each other. NY Cheesecake Style
Lmaooooo
Hell yeah
Hell yeah!
Also, I’ve never driven a supercharged car, does the supercharger whine ever get old?? 🤩
Never!
You're making a lot of assumptions. Like Hellcat buyers even want electric SUV's.
It’s not that they want it - it’s that the Hellcat won’t be here anymore as a new vehicle!
Is nothing sacred anymore? What's next? The hellcat semi truck?
Hahahahaha
Oh… you haven’t heard? 🤣
The end of an era. We are going to be stuck with electric and crappy little 4 bangers. 😢
I'll miss the Hellcat so much
I hate the sound of that compressor
Hahaha
What kind of review is that?
Did you not enjoy it?
They have made a huge mistake killing the Hellcat, and the normal Hemi engines, and now thousands of their trucks sit unsold because nobody wants the crap 6 cylinder engines now in their trucks.
I'll miss the Hellcat so much
You’re gonna make me want to get rid of my Mazda 3 sedan again, aren’t you? You do it every Thursday.
Mazda3 is such a good choice!
😢😢😢😢😢
😞😞😞
What happened to the aggressive wheels and tires? Ford has been doing the same with their ST trim packages. Lame wheel and tire stance. It looks like a soccer mom's SUV.
All that beautiful horsepower wasted on an ugly stance )-;
I honestly love the whole look of the Durango Hellcat
@@AlanisKing Then you must be looking forward to being a soccer mom. That's not a bad thing granddaughter (-;
Don't give in to EVs
There are some super cool EVs out there
@@AlanisKing Not for me .
Why don't you do any more collaborations with Doug? Your husband find out what you were doing in his garage?
Please don't insinuate weird things. I no longer work with Doug because I have a new job
