Exactly. This should be the price of the performance trim, ~55k. And the performance trim should be the price of the base. Offering a sports car without a LSD in 2020s is dum AF.

Well, it looks great, anyway.

I actually really like this car, the price likely a deal breaker for so many though. Great video as always Alanis, you're quickly becoming one of my favorite car reviewers. Keep up the great work!
I see some at my dealerships on discount but not on the road. I think the reason is that compared to an M2 or something it is missing: Leather seats, 18 way power seats, adaptive ride, better tech, the speed of the M2, and the M2 doesn't fuel starve on the track like the Z.
@@AlanisKing I thought of 2 more: The M2 has actual widening of the fenders over the standard 2 series while the Nismo has stick on fender flare bits and the M2 has a manual option, so does the Supra.

The vr30dett is the same engine family as that of the GTR. Its been the main engine option of Infiniti sedans since 2017. Most I’ve heard is that the engines are an ECU tune away from 500whp stock everything.
I think getting a regular Z with an aftermarket tune to get those 20hp is a more sensible way to go. You get more color options along with the manual transmission. Unless the Nismo badges are super important, I don't see a whole lot of upside to getting it but maybe I'm missing something 🤷🏼♂. Thanks for another great car review!
Some of the additional changes to the Nismo Z are bushing changes and tuning of the 9 speed. The Nismo gets stiffer chassis bushings throughout, along with the 9 speed tuned and calibrated to allow for the faster downshifts in particular. Nismo doesn’t make as much sense as a buy if its only a street car, in this iteration all the changes were definitely focused on making it faster on a track, which based off several other testers results is a dramatic change.
The New Z is a good honesty checker. How much does it cost what is still a fairly large company to update and release a new sports car family solo? The FM chassis is now essentially bespoke to the Z, and its in limited markets. To make the thing their engineers want to make, and people want to lust over costs more than we’d want it.
Nissan's profit margin on these has to be astronomical, despite what they say I'd be very surprised if it weren't a heavily modified facelift of the previous generation that's been around long enough to buy alcohol. The point is, if they priced it where it should be they'd sell a few, but it doesn't make sense to buy one instead of other $70k sports cars
@@AlanisKing $70k... yeah no... there's gonna be a TON of C8 "boomer specials" / aka: forced sales when the municipal bonds go POOF!! Then their pensions go POOF... Totally disagree with Nissan about the manual. Automatics only make sense when it's a daily or an actually putting in times. 99% of the time I'm fine with slightly slower shifts as long as I get to do them. Good looking car and agree on the score. 2/10 hat score for wearing the trunk as a hat in the video pic.
It's kind of hard to justify the Z line when the Mustang exists. Like compare the Z Nismo to a Mustang Dark Horse that starts at $63K. The Dark Horse gives you 500HP, way better technology, and way more customizing options. I love the Z's style but it's probably like $10-15K over the price that it should be.
Automatically is faster why u think 🤔 Lamborghini only makes automatic cars especially lunch control & 9 speed old days is over with manual transmission was faster especially with technology in cars u can beat a computer in shifting lol
Man, the price seems like a big issue. There are so many other cars that have significant pros over this one. Unless you're really brand loyal to Nissan I feel like it's a hard sell.
I had three cars in mind to buy: Nissan Z, Supra or BMW M240i xDrive. All $20k AUD difference in prices… the M240i went up another $14k when I wanted to order due to new year prices… the Supra has been hard to get in Australia and the Z I just fell for. Took 12 months and a week to receive after my order. Then the M2 came out and Nismo when I picked up my Z. Don’t regret it. Love the new Z.
It’s so good but just priced a little out of what I think most people are willing to pay for a Nissan Z. Plus the marketing of it has been essentially zero.
It really felt like Nissan settled on a price and tried to add stuff on to justify it after the fact. But they added the wrong stuff like the automatic gearbox, and didn't add enough of the other stuff like bigger power boost to justify the massive cost premium over the standard Z or even the Z Performance siblings. Which is really awkward especially in an arena of a lot of awesome performance cars that have an even greater badge cachet over Nissan. I've no idea what the other cars like Porsches and such cost in the US by comparison as the UK doesn't get the Nissan Z in any form, but $70,000 already sounded like far too much, especially over the other Z models.
The outside looks super fun and very Japanese, which I love, but for the exact same price the dark horse wins all day. Was that fake engine noise in the cabin?
I do like how it looks. But the main problem is definitely the price. And despite being a, probably, good auto transmission, Nissan automatics have a bad reputation.
This thing is about as heavy as my CT4V Blackwing with all those weight adding items like power seats, ventilated seats, massage, and a rear seat LOL. I spent less on my BW with more HP, more performance, and more comfort. Seems like it may be a slow seller.
It's a nice throwback to the Z's of the past. But one of the things that the original 240Z was noted for was how affordable it was, and value for the money was something you got. The more recent ones seem to have ignored that lesson
Is it expensive? Yes it is, and so was the 300XZ turbo, they never were the affordable sportscar, if you want something cheaper buy a slightly used Infinity Q60 redsport.
Really dont get the automatic, like its not a dedicated track monster, not a high end luxury car nor a GT (at least no in this spec) edit: also for the price why not go for the mustang dark horse.
@@aygwm fair enough but the Z isnt that much lighter. But the mustang has the benefit of doing everything the z does from the classic design to the affordable performance vehicle and importantly a lot more available
Like the regular Z, the NISMO is a 2003 chassis carrying a 2014 drivetrain with a cut and paste interior from 2009. Everything about this car scream begrudging and unenthusiastic like Nissan really didn’t want to release this car but did it anyway as cheaply as possible by recycling from their parts bin. This car was already outdated and obsolete even before it was released, the NISMO is not even faster than a regular 3.0 Supra. No one wants this car, there are eight listed in my area and all of them are marked below MSRP. I’ve seen more Cybertrucks on the road that this or the regular Z. Anyone who buys this extremely disappointing overpriced car instead of the RS3, M2, Dark Horse, Cayman or C8 is an absolute fool. Even the CTR and ITS are much better cars for a lot less.
I drive all over Los Angeles County for work and I have never seen a Nissan Z on the streets. I have been seeing GR Corollas since back when they had $10k -$15k ADMs, which in my view says a lot about how overpriced the Z is.
The nismo being close to 70 grand is pretty much everyone's deal breaker.

Took 12 months and a week to receive after my order. Then the M2 came out and Nismo when I picked up my Z. Don’t regret it. Love the new Z.
Were those flappy paddles just ornamental?
They work!
Hell yeah
Hell yeah
I think the way Chevrolet priced the c8 base modep makes it hard to justify buying any other car in the same segment.
Fair!
It’s so good but just priced a little out of what I think most people are willing to pay for a Nissan Z. Plus the marketing of it has been essentially zero.
Yes! I wish they’d do more marketing. It’s so good
If this car was $55-$58k, I dont think anyone would be so hard on it. I do agree though, $70k is a bit steep for price.
I agree
nice shorts
So fair. I think it would’ve been a hit at a lower price
nice sunglasses
The outside looks super fun and very Japanese, which I love, but for the exact same price the dark horse wins all day. Was that fake engine noise in the cabin?
Dark Horse is SO good. I can’t remember if the cabin noise was fake - I go through so many cars! Sorry!
Doesn’t seem the noise is fake in the Z.
There is piped in cracks and burbles
Alanis filming at Fancy Kristen's mansion.
She let me borrow it
I do like how it looks.
But the main problem is definitely the price.
And despite being a, probably, good auto transmission, Nissan automatics have a bad reputation.
It's sooooo pretty
For 70k....this...or the Lexus is500. Let that sink in.
Dark Horse
This thing is about as heavy as my CT4V Blackwing with all those weight adding items like power seats, ventilated seats, massage, and a rear seat LOL. I spent less on my BW with more HP, more performance, and more comfort. Seems like it may be a slow seller.
Blackwings rock
@AlanisKing yes they do! It's my daily and so much fun. Plus it's red..
No AWD, no shot
Shame they don't sell the Niss-an Zed this side of the pond.
I'm sorry : (
They want how much for it??
You heard me right!
@@AlanisKing crikey.
1969 "Nice!"
Omfg XD
Hahahaha
It's a nice throwback to the Z's of the past. But one of the things that the original 240Z was noted for was how affordable it was, and value for the money was something you got. The more recent ones seem to have ignored that lesson
So true. Those original Z cars were cheap!
Is it expensive? Yes it is, and so was the 300XZ turbo, they never were the affordable sportscar, if you want something cheaper buy a slightly used Infinity Q60 redsport.
Super fair!
Take a shot everytime she says "Z" 😂
That is the name of the car!
@@AlanisKing I know, it's just a good excuse to get drunk 🤷🏻♂️
No manual?!
No 😔 only the regular Z
I prefer the heritage edition. No one buys these.
Love a good heritage car model
I like the new Z. No way is it worth the msrp's. $70k ? Thats just stupid
I like it too!
Sorry bit my 07 350z Nismo (Sold for the 2014 model) and my 2014 370z Nismo looks way better.
They're great!
Is it... Z-nough?
Love it
Auto only & $70 grand? Forget that!
That's the hard part!
It’s faster than the manual. It’s track focused and primed for that.
Really dont get the automatic, like its not a dedicated track monster, not a high end luxury car nor a GT (at least no in this spec)
edit: also for the price why not go for the mustang dark horse.
People who have $70k to drop on a fun car don’t want to row their own bro
@@aygwm fair enough but the Z isnt that much lighter. But the mustang has the benefit of doing everything the z does from the classic design to the affordable performance vehicle and importantly a lot more available
Dark Horse is SUCH an incredible car. No-lift upshift!
Teenager you say (370Z)...so that means that the 70+ year old Porsche 911 series is geriatric to say the least.
Nah. The Z series dates back about that long. The 370Z specifically was really old. It’s like a generation of Z car, similar to a 992 or 991 911
nice earrings love the shape
The interior is better than it used to be, but putting blank switches where the seat heaters would be is wild to me
2:30 nissan put that "400" number in the engine instead
Yes! You've got it
I drive all over Los Angeles County for work and I have never seen a Nissan Z on the streets. I have been seeing GR Corollas since back when they had $10k -$15k ADMs, which in my view says a lot about how overpriced the Z is.
GR Corolla is truly a special car. It’s one of my favorite new cars I’ve ever driven
