"Bumly... Agent Bumly" You sounded *so* impressed with that name. I'm still cracking up at your delivery and now have to watch the bit just after it for a third time because I was laughing too much and couldn't pay attention
I am yet another. I only picked the game up a couple years ago too, so don't even have nostalgia for it! Mission based driving games are actually really fun if done well, though Spy Hunter is one of the rare ones that was. Think the only other one I can think of off the top of my head is Stuntman.
The Peter Gunn theme was used as the soundtrack to the original spyhunter as well, if memory serves it was also used in the movie The Blues Brothers. Further trivia the G6155 was the date of birth of the games creator 1st June '55
At the time, this was one of my favorite games, even tried to 100% it, I got close. Also if you double tap X like it said on the loading screen, you can use boost
@@brett3612 Yeah, he kept saying if only there was some way to boost/turbo, and it's literally been on the loading screen AT LEAST TWICE at that point.
Even if it didn't say so in the loading screen, reading the manual, or if I don't have that, looking up the controls in the menu is like the first thing I do when I get a game!
It wasn't supposed to be, it was essentially a survival game, as all arcade games were. A version you can play at home, doesn't make sense. You're trying to see how far you can get on one credit!
This was legitimately a solid reboot/sequel of a classic game. It's not particularly deep, though it has a simple, serviceable plot, fun gameplay, and challenging objectives. The cutscenes are short and sporadic, but interesting and well executed. This is one of the few games that is actually worth going back and trying to unlock everything. Nailing down the perfect runthrough on each level, pulling off some of the more challenging jumps/shots, and boosting across the finish line under the required time limit (having completed all the objectives) is very rewarding. Final note: You have to review the control scheme and sit through the mission introductions in order to internalize the objectives. You can't just ADHD through everything and then complain that you don't know what's going on.
Ben's reaction to the average score absolutely killed me and when Peter told him the highest score I lost it 😂 thanks for absolutely killing me with laughter while having a chest infection. You guys are fucking legends 😂
It amazes me everytime how often you guys fail to notice information the game tells you, like the turbo boost hint text in the objective(?) screen before the second level, or in other games when a character spells out the next objective in a cutscene, and your next words "I have no idea what to do now." Tbh, some of these games are so bad I'm not surprised it's hard to stay interested
I think this boils down to being a product of the time which didn't age well with the improvements we've had in similar games since. So it may have honestly been enjoyed at the time, but I'd be interested in hearing opinions from those who played it back then after playing it again now, 2 decades later.
I never played it back then, only discovered it a couple years ago, but the game is quite fun! Physics can be a little jank at times, but it is probably one of the best mission based driving games ever. Mission based driving games are so rarely done will, but this one has a lotof variety in the levels, objectives, enemy types, and controls pretty good most the time.
True, but even if you didn't they usually had a controls menu you could look at from the start menu or main menu, not to mention pop-up hints on loading screens, both of which I believe are in this game. They troll these games for laughs, it seems. And it works lol
I'm not sure these 2 are even "gamers" and they just do this for laughs. Plus, I don't know of many people who like to read anymore. I mean, there are hints on the loading screens, that's like 5 seconds of reading. Apparently too much work lol
As a small child, I had a ps2 demo-disc with a demo of this game and a few others on it, and I remember thinking it was so awesome. Years later I found a copy at GameStop for like $4, so naturally I bought it and played through about half of it. I thought it was okay, but not okay enough to finish apparently.
This looks great... sort of. I love boat racing games and for some reason there are so few of them this reminds me of Hydro Thunder which was awesome love you guys keep up the great work
@@SebaZavaK that’s because it’s not a good game. It’s really bad. And they’re usually busy making a UA-cam show to pay attention to every stupid detail this terrible game shows in small text in corner of the screen.
I will always cherish this game. It's ridiculous and it's goofy but as a kid I loved replaying the levels over and over to get all the objectives perfectly. And the whole aesthetic and soundtrack is just iconic.
The loading screen on the tutorial level tells you how to "speed boost." I think reading the manual or at least looking at the controls in the menu would have been quite helpful on this one...
😂 I just realized why I love these videos... They remind me of a childhood favorite show, Mystery Science Theater 3000.... Good on you fellas!! Cheers!
Of the Worst Games Ever that I've watched on this channel so far, honestly this one doesn't seem all that bad. Probably one of the "best of the worst" but, from what I see, for the time it was released and the IP itself this isn't even a bad game. Also I'm not sure if you guys are actually... gamers... being funny talking about games, you guys definitely have a talent for that. And I genuinely love your content. But tbh, half the time I think you're just trolling or derping in these WGE videos. Either that or you guys don't really play video games much. Even if you don't know how to play, AND manage to miss all the hints on screen, most gamers just... try shit. Hit buttons, hold buttons, double tap buttons, just to see what happens. Who would have thought playing video games would actually take SOME level of attention to detail? Baffling, I know lol This is taking nothing away from your content, as I said I love watching these videos. Just something I've noticed. I'm not saying be a tryhard, but... put forth SOME real effort, and you might enjoy more than making fun of these properties. *shrugs*
I had this game and I loved this game! But no, in all seriousness, I did kind of like this. Some of the challenges were infuriating and the cutscenes absolutely terrible but all in all it is definitely one of the better games in my library. I always enjoy the two of you making fun of games, even if I liked them XD
Most of the time it's the driving mechanics within a specific game. I've thought the same as you before, then downloaded the game, only to find that trying to drive is a fucking objective all by itself.
Have you confused this with the third PS2 game, SpyHunter: Nowhere to Run? Feat. Dwayne. It was pretty bad, but this first game is fondly remembered and was well reviewed. Even the second game maybe? This first game has an 84 on Metacritic, while Nowhere to Run has a 51. Very confusing choice.
Maybe you should have the original game before criticizing because the emulators never operate as well as the original. Other then that I had this when it first came out and it ran allot better then this crap lol love this game!
I find it interesting that the movie never came to fruition but I’ve always remembered the newer game with Dwayne Johnson on the cover every time I went to the game shop. I just hear/see Spyhunter and can only picture The Rock
Spy Hunter series are fantastic, enjoyable, and action packed games from NES to Nowhere to Run that has great characters, vehicle transformation and design, eady controls, descent plot centering around espionage and danger, and nice locations around the world. A truly epic series that sadly in 2021 has not aged well and graphics are not as good anymore but still charming, delightful, and had great memories playing these. The soundtrack is still epic and one of the best video game themes to date from P. Gunn despite this was from a tv series previous. Shame the movie wasn't made as they still need a trilogy of films for 2021 and VR game would be very enjoyable. Game still gets big 👍🏻from me.
This was genuinely one of my most favorite ps2 games of all time! I’d spend so much time trying to complete every objective before going on to the next level 😅
Same! In hindsight, good choice. I don't think this is a bad game, but if I rented it I would have gotten bored with it. 14 levels, 3 playthroughs max per level to get all objectives in one go... I'd probably be done with this game in about 4 hours.
Actually, I greatly enjoyed playing this game as a kid and teenager. The physics and controls for the Interceptor felt nimble and very responsive.
