Bio: In this time of religious extremism, there are still those who are carrying the flame of religious tolerance, devotion and mysticism- and the Sufi’s are some of the most ancient.
Fanna-Fi-Allah carries the tradition and teachings of the Sufi’s in their music, the devotionally driven and passionate music of Qawwali. Through many years of study and practice under the guidance of Qawwali masters of India and Pakistan, their expression of Qawwali music has become an authentic representation and continuation of this ancient tradition of Sufi music.
Sufism is alive and well in India and Pakistan, where Qawwali music celebrates the great Sufi mystics of old, and relishes in the love of the Divine through poetry. Sung with a powerful and soaring melodious chorus and accompanied by entrancing energetic rhythms of tabla and group clapping, the Beloved is celebrated with ecstatic devotion.
Fanna-Fi-Allah gives audiences a glimpse inside this rich and vibrant Sufi culture, to which many would otherwise never experience. The groups founding members have spent over 20 years learning this classical art-form. During their 15 years of world-wide touring they have played at many major international festivals. They have enthralled audiences in the USA, Pakistan, Europe, Indonesia, India, Egypt, and others, with their dynamic skill, and passionate musical precision. With ten albums already published, Fanna-Fi-Allah have now given us an even greater glimpse into this Sufi world of Pakistan with the production of their new documentary: Music of the Mystics.
Fanna-Fi-Allah continues to carry on an ancient wisdom in their music, a wisdom that is not only heard, but is profoundly felt. A universal message of devotion and tolerance that ignites hearts and quenches their deeper longings. A message that is so crucial for our time.

that is amna chisti, adopted in art by her someone fatherly that taught her tabla, the teacher is Dilaar hussain was a table player, but he too is a qawali player.

If you do not belief that there is a god or gods then you're atheist

someone who beliefs in god or gods can be agnostic about it as well as gnostic

Well it could be said that marijuana is a gateway drug. For westerners it may be the only gateway to understanding Sufi music. Myself - I've been deeply spiritually connected to music my entire life and I don't need to be high to experience the elation brought forth by music like this. I have felt that same elation from all styles of music ranging from the sappiest of '70s love songs to the angriest of death metal. Spiritual connectivity to music is limited only by the heart of the listener. I discovered Sufi music back in the '90s by way of my habit of collecting music on vinyl and the Qawwali (Sufi music) record on Nonesuch looked somewhat appealing so I bought it. Believe me, I had many moments of sheer elation and enlightenment both high and sober listening to that album. Sufi music is best enjoyed with an open heart and an open mind. Marijuana is optional. Still love these sounds 20 years later!
If only westerners really understood music on a truly spiritual level like this the world might be a much better place. But let's face it - westerners are pompous, smug posers who constantly pretend to be happy whilst NEVER ONCE in their lives experiencing the sheer joy and elation that the perpetrators of genuine Sufi music experience at almost every performance of it. I myself am a music performer - I know the feeling that CAN come over oneself while performing music like this. John Coltrane was probably the closest thing most westerners EVER came to experiencing anything LIKE Sufi music. And that's ONLY because Coltrane rose above the cultural stigma that holds music like this down in the west. Coltrane was "cool" because he died of drug complications. That's somehow "cool" in the west.
One day I hope to see an America that embraces cultural differences and embraces acceptance of other cultures... We're a LONG way away from that end. I learned to love Sufi music many years ago, that love never died and never will die in me. I'd try to share it, but with only real love and peace to back it, it probably won't gain much acceptance in my circle of friends. Music isn't "cool" unless it's filled with anger, angst, hatred, confusion, disdain and disillusionment. That's just not "cool" to me.
