I was 20 at the time Brian died and for years could not figure out why I had lost an interest to a certain extent in some of the Stones music (though there are a few I do like)and when I did a trip back I realised how the music had changed direction following Brian's departure from the band. It's amazing how many young fans Brian has these days.

Janet McDonough, I was 11 years old and we always had their music in my house from day one because I had older siblings.
When we heard in the news that he had died and it was just before the July 4th holiday it was just a major shock just so many almost in America as well .
... and I know what you mean because even though they did go on to have some great music after Brian it just seems that his contribution was very magical .
You can really hear his sound in the music and you can tell the difference without it that is for certain .

I have never believed it was an accidental drowning. Autopsy indicated there was not enough alcohol or drugs in is body for him to have accidently drowned. Keith even mentioned he was a very good swimmer and that some suspicious things happened that night. Brian Jones will never be forgotton ; Rollingstone fans will make sure to that.

The speculation about this will go on & on. However,if you look at every dubious fact surrounding his death; it seems pretty obvious. 1- He was due to receive £100k the day he died for his settlement from the Stones ( equivalent to £2 million now). This alone screams dodgy. Not to mention the further £20k per year as long as the Stones kept going. 2- alleged dispute over the name" The Rolling Stones" as Brian named the band. Huge potential repercussions,ie no more Rolling Stones. 3- Tom Keylock- lied about where he was that night, burned Brians possessions next morning( apart from the ones he kept & sold),his brother was part of the CID operation after Brians death. Keylock was also Janet Lawsons boyfriend at the time, not Frank Thorogood; she was pregnant to Keylock( married with kids) when Brian died & had a son. There are 3 pictures of them at Cotchford the day Brian died, looks like they are arguing. 4- Anna Wohlin,Brians girlfriend was whipped out of the country asap. 5- There was an autopsy, coroners report, embalming & burial within a week, very swift. 6- There was a 75 year seal put on the case records. There is also so much additional info, but these facts alone at the very least, merit further investigation, even if it is nearly 50 years later, because its the right thing to do.

Yeah, I actually know Terry very well, him and Paul Spendel have done a fantastic job in delving into Jone’s death. Just to add Tom Keylock denied being at Cotchford and then suddenly admitted to being there shortly before he died, slightly odd no? Also find it convenient his brother Frank Keylock (head of murder squad Scotland Yard) turns up at Cotchford to ‘deal’ with the incident. It’s a bit like Jack Regen from The Sweeney’ turning up in an episode of ‘Heartbeat’. Frank Thorogood sustaining an injured wrist allegedly caused by pulling Jones out the pool and is caught in possession of class A drugs, he's not arrested but instead taken away in an ambulance whilst Jones dead body is left all night by the side of the pool. Joan Fitzsimons (a key witness who was there on the night) is found half dead on a beach 2 weeks later. The autopsy taking place straight away and the coroner in return suddenly receives a couple thousand pounds worth of Dunlop shares.
There are just too many dodgy coincidences not to mention there are still 80 pages worth of documentation stored away for another 40 years at the Home Office, why would that be?

@2727.L Jones was not really very talented When you truly analyze exactly what he played, none of it was very impressive and certainly not at all creative. He could not write , improvise or ever come up with any original musical or lyrical ideas.
What he brought to the band's plate was really nothing more than a garnish that merely echoed what had already been created.
Brian was not a victim of anyone other than himself. Everything he did,... to cause him be shunned, fired and ultimately to die were the results of his own actions and no other person forced or even brought any of it on him.
Keith once said to Brian with a great deal of concern for his diminishing bandmate, that Brian would probably never make it to 30 years old and without hesitation Brian surprisingly and bluntly responded, simply saying..." I know"
He had to know that he was killing himself
given the way his body and mind were rapidly deteriorating and he had no problem with continuing on with his personally selected path without moderation.

Brian Jones was murdered by either Frank Thorogood acting alone or by Thorogood and Keylock acting together. It is also possible that Keylock killed Brian Jones and waited until Thorogood died before claiming Thorogood had made a death bed confession to the crime. This of course absolves Keylock from any wrongdoing and eternally leaves the blame with Thorogood who cannot be questioned about whether he ever made the confession statement. It also is an extremely handy way for Keylock to prove his innocence. Either way one of these men is responsible for Brian Jones death. Why the police let this slip when it is evidently obvious is beyond any rational understanding.

What is very suspicious is why did Thoroughgood and Keylock burn all of Brian's clothes in the garden the day after his death and where did all his instruments and furniture go to. Spoke to someone who met Thoroughgood who said he was not a nice person (I know that doesn't make someone a murderer). Brian was a very strong swimmer and the drink content in his body was quite low. One report said that at autopsy Brian was shown to have what we now call "shaken baby syndrome"; in other words, he had been assaulted, throttled, and bashed about; and that there had, in fact, been bruising which the police suppressed. The reason the police "immediately suspected him (Thoroughgood) when he first told the story is because it takes a long time to die; it doesn't happen in an instant, and Brian was an excellent swimmer without enough alcohol in his system to render him drunk. Afterwards, the investigation was derailed by police chief Bob Marshall. My take on this is, because Thoroughgood was what was considered to be a conservative, establishment person, while Brian was considered a liberal, anti-establishment person, Bob Marshall deep sixed the investigation in favor of Thoroughgood. Back then, society was very rigid about such things not being so far from the rigidity of the Victorian/Edwardian Period. I'm sure Marshall was thinking he did the world a good service by hiding a murderer in establishment Thoroughgood, and can't imagine himself a full bore criminal for having done so. I suppose in one way it doesn't matter, it won't bring Brian back, and Thoroughgood had to live the rest of his life knowing what he had done. Brian will be forever missed, while Thoroughgood will have ten hundred thousand curses at his back for all eternity.***

And Frank Thorogood wasn't paid directly by Brian- he was still under the employment of Rolling Stones i.e Allen Klein. Even though Brian was out of the band,Klein was still controlling his money. So Brian never knew exactly what was paid to whom, which was the whole Brian being ripped off scenario. So why would Thorogood kill Brian, logically that would then be the end of his meal ticket,so to speak.

I'm sure Frank Thorogood wasn't the sort of man to resort to litigation if he went unpaid for a job, especially such a large amount as £8,000 back in 1969, so I don't doubt he was very angry but that doesn't necessarily mean that he killed Brian, even accidentally. Keylock's knew a lot, lot more than he ever said and it was in everybody's financial best interest that Brian died, except Frank Thorogood who would stand no chance at all of getting paid if Brian died.

I was 15 in 1967 to give you an idea of my age group. I had a schoolmate who went off to New York, got tangled up in the Andy Warhol crowd and ODed 2 months b4 his 21st birthday & I've seen more follow through the years. The drugs make a person start sliding, they get weak, then the ruthless survivors of the herd kick them out

Actually i take that back and it's not what i meant at all- it is VERY sad that Brian Jones died and also a huge loss to music but i can understand with why he was kicked out of the band you know the primary reason was that he was 'doing too many drugs' which makes one wonder 'how many drugs do you have to do to get kicked out of the rolling stones???!!!'
    CHRIST!!!
