The 2nd and 3rd part of this rag are my favorite. I decided to play this on my real piano even though it buzzes. I accidentally said that J. S. Stokes wrote this song but actually it was written by Samuel J. Stokes. There are two North Pole rags, both written in 1909 to celebrate the explorers who attempted to reach the North Pole. I like this one better and that is why I chose to play it.
I’m interested in how you find these seasonal rags. I couldn’t really find any Christmas rags, a few, nut not many. I may try and record this one given a chance. Anyway, great performance. I’ll look forward to seeing what you play in Christmas
On the last video you revealed that you have an electric piano… If you can change the instrument on the electric piano, is it possible for you to make it a celesta then play the Sugar Plum Fairy dance? 😊🎁
Bravo, Leander! Fabulous piece. I learn so much from you and love to start my day watching you and your impressive playing. Such interesting selections. You make my day! 😊❤
You chose the good one! North Pole Rag did sound Christmas-y and you sure enjoyed playing it. My ears aren't as good as yours, so I don't hear the buzzing or other noise, just your fun notes! I like the 'real' piano better than the electric keyboard, but you make either one sing! Thank you, Leander, and keep playing, lots of people are loving it! 😀🤗👏🎄🎹🎹 Jerry Hey, I'm going to make sure Santa gets to hear this! 😉
I guess we all feel the same way... We look forward to seeing what next you play and that smile... Your mom and dad must be so proud of you God bless you and thank you. I love that you always give a little history of the music you're playing. Wow 1909 was a long time ago😊
It has become part of a Christmas ritual to look for a new post of music by you that never disappoints. The smiles come as readily as they do for all of your fans. And we love your smiles. The energy and rapidity you bring to each rag are' astounding. The piano sounds great - no buzz except that which lingers in the brain after a very fine performance yet again. All blessings at Christmas. Love, Pat
J. Bodewalt Lampe & “The Nord Pole Rag” “The Nord Pole Rag” is a lively ragtime composition written by J. Bodewalt Lampe in 1909. This upbeat piece reflects the adventurous spirit of the early 20th century and was likely inspired by the excitement surrounding polar exploration, particularly Robert Peary’s claim of reaching the North Pole that year. Known for his contributions to ragtime music, Lampe’s composition captures the joyful and syncopated rhythms that defined the ragtime era.
🎉❤😍🌟💫Thanku so kindly for playing it on the acoustic - ur real piano is awesome & has a great soul (like u) which synthesizers never can replicate no matter how expensive. Please try to avoid electronic keyboards 🙏 or we will be heartbroken because it loses the raison-dêtre & depth of emotion & authenticity that has enthralled us since ur very first video 💙💛❤️
Enjoyed your version of The North Pole Rag! You are our "Elf on the Shelf" .... looking forward to your surprises every day. A sound board repair... thanks Santa!👳♂🍙❄🎶🎹
Oh Leander, you make my day. I’m an old lady, and watching you reminds me of Liberace, with that big smile and flying fingers. I’d love to hear you play some of his works. He was awesome, and so are you.
Although the acoustic piano sounds better, it was fun to see you play the electric. I especially liked seeing it filmed from the right side so I could see that your fantastic smile works both ways! Love you.❤❤❤❤
No matter what some people say about this kid regarding needing a teacher to teach him this that or the other etc, the pure joy he gets from playing, his way, is all you need, live long and prosper my young friend and just keep smiling and getting nothing but joy from your playing, your a credit to yourself and your parents. I would say one thing though, please try and get the piano tuned.
Here's an unspoken secret, Leander. We all love your voice and your Deutscher Akzent. Have a Simply Wonderful Holiday Season to everyone! Frohe Weihnachten!
Leander That was fantastic playing. I enjoy listening to you play . Thank you for sharing this on your UA-cam channel. Wishing you and your family a Holy and blessed Christmas and all the best in the New Year.. 🎄🎁
Fantastic as usual. You can make any piano sound good. I am amazed at how you learn so many pieces of rag type music and play so enthusiastically without sheet music and not looking at the keys. You are like that famous Eveready Bunny that just keeps going and going, never running down (Eveready alkaline battery TV commercial). I enjoy listening to you and eagerly wait for more. Thanks!
I'm glad you decided to play that song on the acoustical piano. I'm sure it sounds more true to the composer's original intention than it would on an electronic piano. I really didn't notice much interference at all. I expect the North Pole is all abuzz with activity right about now. In just six days, it will be their busiest night of the year! I heard a funny joke today that you might like. What did Mrs. Claus say when Santa asked her how the weather was looking? She said, "It looks like rain, dear." Have a good evening, precious fella, and I'll anxiously await your next video. It seems like I often edit my comments, and here I am doing it again. Did you notice anything familiar about a few of the phrases in the song, like the ones beginning around the 0:44 point in your video? To me, they sound very similar to the melody for "jump in bed and cover your head, 'cause Santa Claus comes tonight" from "Here Comes Santa Claus."
Q: Why did Santa settle at the North Pole? A. Superman had already built the Fortress of Solitude at the South Pole. Yeah, corny I know. I've always remembered that 'joke' after hearing it somewhere.
@Leander-piano I understand! And I agree -- the acoustic sounds much better! I can't hear the problem in the recording -- what is it doing -- buzzing on some notes?
