I noticed how you briefly paused the faint background music while you were thinking about the type of canti brakes. Cracking little detail in your editing style. I like it.
At 80% still a great build. Time to start Christmas shopping at Justus! Rim brake 26inch hoops, spokes, rim brake systems, tires, lots of tires, ridgid forks and BSA BB options. We're hoping the parts makers are listening to this segment of cycling. New parts on old frames is just cool functional fun! 26inch Revolution!
I have an 84 Trek Single Track, rigid fork, in is original black frame red decaled livery. Stunning. I went in a very different metro mod updating with 8 speed internal hub. Wyoming winter style. Lurking in the shop is a Cat yellow GX Saddle Ridge with 40mm suspension fork for next spring project. Shortest chainstay in the world. A real goat dancer in the making. Another Facebook Market place find for $20. A 90 Diamond Back Topanga project came undone when I t-mic'd the chain stay and the pitting and slashing is too deep for safety. A shout out to former co-workers lending out very expensive 21st Century ultrasound inspection tools [grins]
Get some red Ultradynamico Mars Race tires. I have them enroute to put on my red 93' rockhopper. Made by Panaracer in Japan for Benedict Wheeler (Ronnie Ultra Romance) so I think the sponsorship is still valid as long as you show a few clips of Ronnie on his Crust bike.
I have a couple of old Treks that i am considering building up for a couple of trips that I have been eyeing for a while. One will be carrying a 36 year old bike on a 150 mile bikepacking trip. The other will be converting an old Trek mountain bike to a gravel cruiser for a 60-ish mile gravel bikepaking trip. Wish me luck!
I couch surfed in Hali for like a month but within a week feelin in love with @Just Us! Coffee Roasters. I came for their fantastic Oat Cakes, but I'm staying to see how this epic build turns out. So rad that they sponsored this. Huge props to an awesome organization
I laughed when I saw the CRC Brand X headset cap you used. I just restored an old steel Marin... with an FSA headset and the same rando cap I had laying around.
You need some Mavic 517 anodized red rims to go with that. Or Black rims with red hub. They seemed the thing back then and they would look sick on this bike.
Panaracer Firecross tires come in a red thread that would be sweet on this bike. They might be a bit slow as burly xc tires but would match the motif of the bike well.
Get a fancy red set of Bassano Grimeca wheels, they're totally absurd in case of service, but the look and that retro feel and color... well I'm just curious about your review on how whould they roll :P
I have issues concerning derailluers and acommodating large cassettes (42) and goatlink /roadlink, and also refitting hubs that can take 11s and even 12s. any advice?
I have a Trek Single Track mtb im going to upgrade it stem/handle bar crank arms Narrow wide chain ring. 1X8 vs the 3X8 that is on it with twist shifter
Hey guys, I just got a Trek 8000 frame from a friend of mine and now want to build up my first bike. I do have 26" wheels with a 9sp HG freehub body, an 11s 11-42 cassette, Apex 1 11s derailleur and sti shifter. Could someone please tell me what bottom bracket and crank I could use for this build? Also I'm not sure about the headset, any help is greatly appreciated! :)
Those red anondized wheels would/will be slick, but minus the Bullmoose bars this bike wouldn’t be completely complete no matter what else happened. 👍🏻
I had installed a SRAM 10-52 cassette (with 32 tooth chainring) on my 2008 Giant Trance with 26" tires as well. It could climb anything. I couldn't, but the bike could
works. you just need to get long arm v-brakes to accomodate the 700c if it's a non-disc type of deal. paul motolites OR litepro 108mm brakes off ebay. i'm running the latter, work great with the sram s500 singlespeed levers.
@@613.Rooster See I was considering the road brakes, But the jack in the box who made the frame didn’t put any fender mounting on the seat stay bridge, I don’t know what kind of drill bit to use on a ti frame.
Stick to bikes, that skate game is weak, bring a bike into the park and you'll slay it. What would look really cool is some chromed/polished aluminum hoops with an anodized red hub on a black tire. 90% black 5% red 5% silver will make a sick bike and not feel like too much going on.

Eric, you sure know how to make me want to build a vintage mountain bike with modern components, your vintage/modern build are so sweet.
I think Panaracer Smoke and Dart would be great for this build!
You could also get the red from tires. Panaracer could hook you up with a set of red fire XC pro tires.
That would look great
I got unused -96 crossmax ceramic wheelset on my retro crescent lodur MTB from -97. Best wheels in the world, had a pair in 98. Simply fantastic
Love the handlebars! No silver spacers. Looks fine as is.

Great camerawork, pleasant personality. Thanx 4 featuring vintage Trek ^_^
Not bicycle related but, how's that mower? Been seeing a lot now.
Red hubs black rims. Keep it subtle 😎

A few BMX stores have red anodized Rhyno lite rims in stock. They appeared to have been machined pre-anodizing.

Clearly, I don't know how to tag. Sorry, Just Us! you deserve it.
Thanks for helping
I believe that Trek has a bonded lug frame; meaning the tubes were glued to aluminum lugs. That was the way my 94 Trek 7000 was manufactured.
I laughed when I saw the CRC Brand X headset cap you used. I just restored an old steel Marin... with an FSA headset and the same rando cap I had laying around.
I put cliffhangers on my 88 karakoram and love em. Nice build so far! ✌

Nice scenic shots.

Red DMR V8 pedals, red splash through saddle(or a red saddle), and maybe some red Ritchey foam grips(
Looking sweet! - But those P2's are looking mighty long for that frame...
Omg that is beautiful!
This channel is quality

I'm interested in rims, if you find a replacement and want to ship them out to California. Nice bike.
going to put the parts on a amazon list how you did the other bikes?
What BB did you use to fit the the new cranks? I assume the old BB was square tapered thread… 73x113 maybe?
nice build
I have a trek 820 mountain track frame and fork. 26er
any chance we could get more info on the 10 to 11 speed conversion?
Out of curiosity, what was the axle-to-crown measurment on the stock or original fork compared to the p2?
Workin on a 950

Question: why are you using a suspension corrected fork on a bike frame that isn't?
I have a Trek Single Track mtb im going to upgrade it stem/handle bar crank arms Narrow wide chain ring. 1X8 vs the 3X8 that is on it with twist shifter
love the intro
Do you know what the bottom bracket size is?
Is there an advantage to bullmoose bars apart from looking cool?
What axle to crown does that fork have?
Get hs33brakes or paul cantilever 😊

Mazarrocchi lmfao yesss
That p2 for tho 👌
Hear me out: Tan wall Panaracer CG XCs... so chunky 🤤
It possible to convert to 700c road wheels on a bike like this?
dartmoor bikes makes some rims go check it out
What if I like my fork upside down?
I was afraid if I didn’t subscribe you would film in the dark from now on
Who the hell put a 👎 ?!?!
Video idea: install a fork upside down just cause I want to see it happen now
hrrm, is this video 360p only or is YT being weird?
`yes it is lol
@@mihairusu7591 I think it was just YT, it's got HD now.

30-51 on 26" lol low gearing. Mine is 36 13-46 and that is still comically low

OK, but no more videos in the dark, OK?
Alivio is too new for that period. But a great quality budget choice.
Watching from philippines..i also promote your blog to my cyclist friends
Thoughts on a late 90’s mtb turned to drop bar single speed with 700c tires, Think it would work?
Depends on what you want to do with brakes!

Consider Tektro dual pivot? Grind off the brake posts if you're painting it.

New parts/old frame is boring.
Old parts new frame - that seems like an interesting project
(screams in pressfit + square taper)
