Tabby this was a phenomenal video. Thank you so much and I had to laugh at the end because somehow I felt like you were going to give tower 28 your number one spot and I’m just going to have to try that mascara again. I used it twice and then gave it to a friend of mine, because I felt like it was just m’eh. But then that was when I was really in my obsessed over tubing, mascara phase. The pictures the wear test your analysis of the wand was so helpful and really made me think about mascara in a different way to be honest- and that’s saying a lot since I’ve been around mascara for about 50 years now.
I've also noticed that i fly through the tower 28 mascara. For high end, its a good price but bc it dries out so fast, I'm super interested in your tubing mascara showdown!! Thanks, Abbey! ❤

Also, you can turn an average mascara into great by allowing it to dry out a little. I like my mascaras much better after they’ve aged a little and gotten thicker and drier.
Save your favorite brush, clean it and use it on other mascaras. Even with using a lash curler, if I don't use a waterproof mascara, they fall very quickly. My favorite is Clio Kill Lash (k-beauty brand). Many blessings!!!💖💖💖
Drugstore mascaras are so much better (except for maybe the Tower 28) I have been loving the Elf Roller Lash and the Ultra Brand Twisted is a hidden gem!!!!

I use 2 mascaras currently. The Fenty to put immediate length and volume and then I finish with the Tower 28. It seperates my lashes so nicely. Definitely a really good wand on Tower 28 so im not surprised it was your #1 pick. Ive personally never found a mascara to do everything I want it to. 😅

Omg Abbey the commitment 👏👏👏 I used to use the Lancome Drama mascara like 10 or so years ago and it didn't work well for me until i read the instructions ❗which said "rotate the brush while applying". Game changer! And I can see the thought behind it - by doing so you ensure that each single lash gets coated all around. I would assume that this rotating technique would be applicable to all mascaras that have uneven bristles or even flat parts. Eventually I gave up on the Drama mascara because it would wear smudgy and even fall into my eyes but I'm grateful for providing me with yet another application method. Maybe you could do a video about comparing results with same mascaras (or any other make up oroduct) but using different types of application... Once you recovered from this marathon of course 😉 Great job 👍

Great video. I rarely return things to Sephora but I did return the Hudson mascara. One you might consider for another showdown is the Bobby Brown Smokey eye mascara
Oooh, can't wait for the tubing mascara show down! I find that a lot of them dry out SO fast! Much faster than regular mascaras. The only one that I've tried that actually lasted more than a couple of weeks is the one from Tarte.
I’ve noticed the highest end mascaras I used to love in the last 3 years have changed their formula so they too are smudging and flaking even though they still charge more 🤷🏼♀️

YSL lash clash is my favorite the Tower 28 is good at volume and separation not clumping but it looks like I put nothing on YSL is like holy lashes!!! Up to my eyebrows 🤣🤣🤣

I love the GXVE beauty mascara because I have some serious hooded eyes and the doh-dah at the end really reaches the inside lashes. Your lashes look amazing in all of mascaras. The ears and tail that starts whisking eagerly at about 32:00! Thank you for this video, it's something I've been hoping for for ages and couldn't find from anybody I follow. I can see why: expensive and cumbersome to make. Thank you for experimenting so we don't have to. I look forward to the tubing mascara edition. It's so disappointing that major brands use a million meaningless words to advertise their mascaras, without even telling us what formula and brush to really expect. Anytime you feel like doing a side by side of any product category to show the differences in finish, opacity, and/or official color/texture descriptions, it will be valuable for your viewers.
It's so interesting to me how different mascara preferences can be. I have pretty long lashes so anything that lengthens makes them look spidery. So for me, the best mascara are ones that pretty much just add volume and are slightly wetter but not super wet or thick. Of course, not flaking or smudging is a must! I recently started trying some new ones and the Better Than Sex mascara actually works really well for me. I also like the regular Milk mascara but I found the different bristle lengths on the wand really annoying. The different lengths on the different sides made it so I had to think more about how I applied it. The green Essence mascara looks so pretty but it flakes throughout the day 😥 If it didn't, it may have been my perfect mascara.
I use the Dior Maximizer before putting on the YSL Extreme Volume. I let the Dior dry while doing the rest of my face and do my mascara last. Love the results.

Lancome Lash Idole has been my go-to the past year, so I was happy to see that it placed pretty well! Gonna have to try out the Tower 28 one, it seems like it has a similar brush and it's cheaper!
As someone with really long lashes, I couldn't agree more about using more than one mascara (especially for my bottom lashes because transfer is a real problem for me). The Fenty Hella thick is one of my all-time favourites (but I use a different mascara to reapply throughout the day because, yes, it doesn't wear well over time). I think one you should definitely try is the Bourjois Volume Reveal Mascara (my go-to for my bottom lashes), it comes in a waterproof formula but honestly the standard one doesn't transfer. It is also a great mascara to use if you need to reapply because both the wand and the formula doesn't mess with the original look of my first mascara. I initally didn't like it because it should be called something different as you defintely don't get a lot of volume but I have yet to find a wand and formula that separates without any clumping like this mascara. We also seem to love the same foundations based on the videos I have watched and I think you might also like the bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer, Foundation, and CC Cream. It really is one of the most underrated brands.
I used to love the benefit roller lash! I switched to only clean formulas now so I use ilia, rms, beauty counter lune and aster, etc. i think the MAC mascaras are actually SUPER underrated. I used to love the Mac giga play (blue packaging). Really defining and wore great. Love this video!
WOW!! I'm a newbie here, and I've got to say that this is probably one of the top ten most valuable makeup videos I have watched! Thank you so much for your hard work (and thank Elsie for her forebearance, lol). I have used many of the mascaras you tried, and ordered sample sizes of many I haven't -- I was surprised how many brands offered trial sizes. Over the forty-some-odd years I have been wearing mascara, however, I have noticed that as soon as I find a firm favorite, it immediately stops production (same thing with bras and perfume, right?). So, although I agree with you on most of your reviews, One Coat Wow is currently my ride or die mascara. You can rest easy knowing that it will probably be around for only a short while now that I've said that. I look forward to your next videos~

Thank you for all your research! I’ve been looking for an excuse to try out the Tower 28. I tried the Ilia and thought it was just ok. I’ll give it a second chance tomorrow. My go-to is still Maybelline Sky High with the primer first. I just ordered the brown and can’t wait for it to arrive!

Thanks for the video. I feel the same way about all of the mascaras you reviewed, 2/3 of which I've tried. But, I LOVE Lancôme Hypnôse Drama. I've used it for years and year. I try other things, but come back in the end. It wears well on me and doesn't flake or smudge. Volume and curl are consistently phenomenal. I'm underwhelmed by Tower 28. I bought it 3 weeks ago, and I just don't understand the hype. I'll keep working with it, but I haven't seen the value yet.
Better separation for Lancôme is definicils ALL DAY. 👏 Even better with primer. If I could use the NARS wand in a Lancôme formula.. can you compare your top to drugstore? I’ve been wanting a Lancôme formula dupe for ages!
😮 I would never buy high end mascara!!! The only one I have is better than sex from too faced... which I prefer the non waterproof one (but it does flake off for me which so i wouldn't repurchase) and I'm not a more than one coat mascara person. It does weigh my lashes down just with one coat. My absolute favorite mascara of all time is the drug store Maybelline stilletto mascara. I have long lashes to begin with, but the separation, brush type, formula type, and wear test is amazing!!! It doesn't weigh my lashes down and the results are amazing! I always get complements on my lashes and people think i have extensions or falsies on. I use mascaras that aren't waterproof, and I have no smudging or flackiness. I only need to use one coat, and it gets every single one of my lashes perfectly!! You can build it up without making your lashes look like spider legs. I also love elf's lash and roll. The quality and brush is so nice without clumping or flaking.
Your hair is gorgeous! I had already ordered the Rare Beauty and Anastasia mascara before I saw your video. Now I'm excited to try them. Also, the Huda mascara was one that I liked. I don't remember having any flakes or smudges with it on me, and I used the whole tube.😊
Thanks for all your work! I would love to see you try some asian mascaras (e.g. Clio Superproof, Heroine make). They're very waterproof and smaller wands that really helps you get in there and coat every lash.
I love the Ilia mascara. I’m currently trying the waterproof IT Superhero and it’s pretty damn good. I need the waterproofing for my sweaty power surges (aka hot flashes).
I've tried a few mascaras both high end, drug store and in between .... And I keep going back to Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara. It has a very beautiful, natural look, not heavy or clumpy
The Ilia was one of the free Sephora birthday choices in February 2023. I love it so much I just finished my 3rd tube. It’s not a tubing mascara but I only need warm water and a reusable cotton round, which I love.
You and I apply mascara the same way. I really appreciate how comprehensive your tests and information have been. I too, have experimented with mascaras over the last 40 years so know of wonderful ones that no longer exist, tried and true, fiber types and newer formulas that ‘tube’. Unfortunately, you did not include Chanel which was always a very great mascara, although, across the board, Lancôme is always a safe choice. I also must add that you are really a true beauty who is much prettier without makeup. I love seeing the little happy wagging tail in your video.
The tower 28 is my holy grail too! I’m so glad they released a brown shade because that’s my preference for my fair skin. It dries out way faster than most mascaras but I’m willing to buy it anyway because it’s so good
I know this is off-topic, but I really need you to do a travel version of your hair routine, including styling. I'm going away for a month twice this year and I have to travel very light without my hair tools.
This video is so entertaining lol. In my experience of pretty short lashes with NO curl- have to use an eyelash curler every time…. Benefit they’re real was a game changer bc the stiff brush with silicone bristles did help curl my lashes and the formula wasn’t too wet that my lashes would lose curl. I also liked benefit bad gal- would like to try it with the They’re Real Brush. Interested your thoughts on waterproof mascaras with my wedding coming up! Loveeee your videos
You tried so many maskaras except for "Giordani gold iconic all-in-one" which is the best maskara I have ever seen in my life. With this maskara my eyelashes look natural. Separation and length is perfect. It holds up two days. Doesn't smudges or sticks eyelashes. I can't afford it because it way too expensive. I hope to get this maskara again. By the way I would really appreciate it if you make another video with eye pencils and eyeliners.I don't now which one is really waterproof and long lasting. Which one is the best. Tried the mini from Tower 28. Its just another ok mascara. I like the brush though, even if it worries me that the concave bit doesn't get as much pigment as the bottom bit. The mini has dried up significantly in a few uses which is disappointing. It's like instead of a travel-size mascara I bought a single-use sample. It wore well, but if I sweated or cried a little it smudged easily. All and all, I don't get the hype, but its allright. Wouldn't make number one in my book though. Perhaps you just have longer lashes and thus its more impactful on you.
Please do a drugstore version of this-- the affordable ones for the majority of people. Lots of love!!!❤

The ears and tail that starts whisking eagerly at about 32:00! Thank you for this video, it's something I've been hoping for for ages and couldn't find from anybody I follow. I can see why: expensive and cumbersome to make. Thank you for experimenting so we don't have to. I look forward to the tubing mascara edition. It's so disappointing that major brands use a million meaningless words to advertise their mascaras, without even telling us what formula and brush to really expect. Anytime you feel like doing a side by side of any product category to show the differences in finish, opacity, and/or official color/texture descriptions, it will be valuable for your viewers.
The Lancôme waterproof mascara is AMAZING
It's so interesting to me how different mascara preferences can be. I have pretty long lashes so anything that lengthens makes them look spidery. So for me, the best mascara are ones that pretty much just add volume and are slightly wetter but not super wet or thick. Of course, not flaking or smudging is a must!
I recently started trying some new ones and the Better Than Sex mascara actually works really well for me. I also like the regular Milk mascara but I found the different bristle lengths on the wand really annoying. The different lengths on the different sides made it so I had to think more about how I applied it. The green Essence mascara looks so pretty but it flakes throughout the day 😥 If it didn't, it may have been my perfect mascara.
My lashes are also long, so I look for volumizing as well.
I use the Dior Maximizer before putting on the YSL Extreme Volume. I let the Dior dry while doing the rest of my face and do my mascara last. Love the results.
I’ve been using the Tarte Tartlette Tubing mascara that I got as a free sample from Sephora I think. Whenever I use it, I get compliments.

Lancome Lash Idole has been my go-to the past year, so I was happy to see that it placed pretty well! Gonna have to try out the Tower 28 one, it seems like it has a similar brush and it's cheaper!
As someone with really long lashes, I couldn't agree more about using more than one mascara (especially for my bottom lashes because transfer is a real problem for me). The Fenty Hella thick is one of my all-time favourites (but I use a different mascara to reapply throughout the day because, yes, it doesn't wear well over time). I think one you should definitely try is the Bourjois Volume Reveal Mascara (my go-to for my bottom lashes), it comes in a waterproof formula but honestly the standard one doesn't transfer. It is also a great mascara to use if you need to reapply because both the wand and the formula doesn't mess with the original look of my first mascara. I initally didn't like it because it should be called something different as you defintely don't get a lot of volume but I have yet to find a wand and formula that separates without any clumping like this mascara. We also seem to love the same foundations based on the videos I have watched and I think you might also like the bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer, Foundation, and CC Cream. It really is one of the most underrated brands.

I used to love the benefit roller lash! I switched to only clean formulas now so I use ilia, rms, beauty counter lune and aster, etc. i think the MAC mascaras are actually SUPER underrated. I used to love the Mac giga play (blue packaging). Really defining and wore great. Love this video!
WOW!! I'm a newbie here, and I've got to say that this is probably one of the top ten most valuable makeup videos I have watched! Thank you so much for your hard work (and thank Elsie for her forebearance, lol). I have used many of the mascaras you tried, and ordered sample sizes of many I haven't -- I was surprised how many brands offered trial sizes. Over the forty-some-odd years I have been wearing mascara, however, I have noticed that as soon as I find a firm favorite, it immediately stops production (same thing with bras and perfume, right?). So, although I agree with you on most of your reviews, One Coat Wow is currently my ride or die mascara. You can rest easy knowing that it will probably be around for only a short while now that I've said that. I look forward to your next videos~

Thank you for all your research! I’ve been looking for an excuse to try out the Tower 28. I tried the Ilia and thought it was just ok. I’ll give it a second chance tomorrow. My go-to is still Maybelline Sky High with the primer first. I just ordered the brown and can’t wait for it to arrive!

Thanks for the video. I feel the same way about all of the mascaras you reviewed, 2/3 of which I've tried. But, I LOVE Lancôme Hypnôse Drama. I've used it for years and year. I try other things, but come back in the end. It wears well on me and doesn't flake or smudge. Volume and curl are consistently phenomenal. I'm underwhelmed by Tower 28. I bought it 3 weeks ago, and I just don't understand the hype. I'll keep working with it, but I haven't seen the value yet.

Better separation for Lancôme is definicils ALL DAY. 👏 Even better with primer. If I could use the NARS wand in a Lancôme formula.. can you compare your top to drugstore? I’ve been wanting a Lancôme formula dupe for ages!
😮 I would never buy high end mascara!!! The only one I have is better than sex from too faced... which I prefer the non waterproof one (but it does flake off for me which so i wouldn't repurchase) and I'm not a more than one coat mascara person. It does weigh my lashes down just with one coat. My absolute favorite mascara of all time is the drug store Maybelline stilletto mascara. I have long lashes to begin with, but the separation, brush type, formula type, and wear test is amazing!!! It doesn't weigh my lashes down and the results are amazing! I always get complements on my lashes and people think i have extensions or falsies on. I use mascaras that aren't waterproof, and I have no smudging or flackiness. I only need to use one coat, and it gets every single one of my lashes perfectly!! You can build it up without making your lashes look like spider legs. I also love elf's lash and roll. The quality and brush is so nice without clumping or flaking.

Thanks for all your work! I would love to see you try some asian mascaras (e.g. Clio Superproof, Heroine make). They're very waterproof and smaller wands that really helps you get in there and coat every lash.
I love the Ilia mascara. I’m currently trying the waterproof IT Superhero and it’s pretty damn good. I need the waterproofing for my sweaty power surges (aka hot flashes).

I've tried a few mascaras both high end, drug store and in between .... And I keep going back to Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara. It has a very beautiful, natural look, not heavy or clumpy

The Ilia was one of the free Sephora birthday choices in February 2023. I love it so much I just finished my 3rd tube. It’s not a tubing mascara but I only need warm water and a reusable cotton round, which I love.

You and I apply mascara the same way. I really appreciate how comprehensive your tests and information have been. I too, have experimented with mascaras over the last 40 years so know of wonderful ones that no longer exist, tried and true, fiber types and newer formulas that ‘tube’. Unfortunately, you did not include Chanel which was always a very great mascara, although, across the board, Lancôme is always a safe choice. I also must add that you are really a true beauty who is much prettier without makeup. I love seeing the little happy wagging tail in your video.
The tower 28 is my holy grail too! I’m so glad they released a brown shade because that’s my preference for my fair skin. It dries out way faster than most mascaras but I’m willing to buy it anyway because it’s so good
I know this is off-topic, but I really need you to do a travel version of your hair routine, including styling. I'm going away for a month twice this year and I have to travel very light without my hair tools.
You could always buy a good travel container set.. thats what I did. Use your favorite products.

This video is so entertaining lol. In my experience of pretty short lashes with NO curl- have to use an eyelash curler every time…. Benefit they’re real was a game changer bc the stiff brush with silicone bristles did help curl my lashes and the formula wasn’t too wet that my lashes would lose curl. I also liked benefit bad gal- would like to try it with the They’re Real Brush. Interested your thoughts on waterproof mascaras with my wedding coming up! Loveeee your videos

You tried so many maskaras except for "Giordani gold iconic all-in-one" which is the best maskara I have ever seen in my life. With this maskara my eyelashes look natural. Separation and length is perfect. It holds up two days. Doesn't smudges or sticks eyelashes. I can't afford it because it way too expensive. I hope to get this maskara again. By the way I would really appreciate it if you make another video with eye pencils and eyeliners.I don't now which one is really waterproof and long lasting. Which one is the best. Tried the mini from Tower 28. Its just another ok mascara. I like the brush though, even if it worries me that the concave bit doesn't get as much pigment as the bottom bit. The mini has dried up significantly in a few uses which is disappointing. It's like instead of a travel-size mascara I bought a single-use sample. It wore well, but if I sweated or cried a little it smudged easily. All and all, I don't get the hype, but its allright. Wouldn't make number one in my book though. Perhaps you just have longer lashes and thus its more impactful on you.
