ANA is always like this. I've flown them on probably 8 flights and your point about the lights and the meal service are spot on. Not only does the meal service take forever to start they take a crazy amount of time between the courses so it kinda puts you in this bothered state for multiple hours where you can't really relax because someone's coming by every once and a while for like 2 hours.
ANA has always been my dream airline to try 😢😍 their overall service, not to mention the Japanese etiquette and also their culture are included in their service 🤟🏻😎
I have to say that this would be my dream flight. “The Room” business class would be a dream probably more so than first class on something like Lufthansa, British Airways, American etc

This is the best business class I've ever used.
By far the best for sleeping as one can actually roll over onto ones side and the doors are awesome.
Food was good.
As for lights, they left the cabin dark.
Worst Business Class I've used was Philippine Air.
I have noticed that over the last few months the video audio quality has dropped enormously. Whenever you are 'in flight' the aircraft noise always drowns out your voice. I think the reason is twofold: 1. the lapel mic is perhaps of poor quality and 2. the mic is often positioned wrongly. You usually have it positioned horizontally, which means that the actual mic is pointed away from you, when it should be positioned vertically. Hope you don't mind this criticism Dan.
I think it was probably a one-off. At my airline we are supposed to turn on the lights at Wake Long setting, which takes approximately 5 minutes to fully turn on. But there are crews who turn them on full blast ignoring that setting.
I fly a ton because I just recently found my biological siblings. I’ve made four trips since we first met in May 2019. I always hated flying but now I look so forward to my trips and they are worth the flying. I love your videos.

There actually isn't much of a difference other than the bigger TV screen and better dining.
Kraft Punk well the legroom is also a difference, the less amount of space means you have to sleep diagonally (won’t be a problem for shorter people tho)
Actually the room has a wider seat than the suite

Interesting how before watching this I was like "Yay Dan's in The Room this is going to be awesome!" But then I watched and realised that ANA the Room wasn't quite deserving of all of the hype I saw in other people's videos... 🤔 I wonder if ANA's new first class on the same plane (The Suite) suffers from the same issues as The Room cos I was eyeing up redeeming my pile of VS Flying Club miles for ANA but now I'm not so certain that I should🤔

I haven't seen any reviews of 1st yet, most I read/viewed kind of echoes the same issue how the new "The Room" doesn't add up to the hype (reminds of me SQA380 Suite hype). I'm guessing over time the soft product will improve, but can't change a stiff seat, nor the sleeping angle for tall individuals. Someone 6' apparently isn't comfortable so I wonder if myself being 5'8 would be an improvement lol
How easy is it to redeem the miles and how many do you need for a business flight?
@@patrickavis5475 the best sweet spot for ANA is by redeeming Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles (if you're from the US, Virgin miles can transferred in from AMEX points, Chase points and Citi points). A Round trip business class ticket from either Europe or the East Coast North America would cost about 95,000 Virgin miles plus a couple hundred dollars in taxes and fees which is a steal compared to the $20K sticker price. I believe the business-speak term for hard seats and uncomfortable sleeping position is "ergonomic" which is then touted as a positive. I remember the old Emirates business class on B777 which may have lacked some of the bells and whistles of modern versions but which was sooo comfortable both for sitting and sleeping and welcomed you in to a cocoon.

The seat looks comically wide. I guess if they are going for a 1-2-1 layout they might as well have used the extra space on the seat but I am genuinely surprised at how the first class seat actually looked a bit less wider than the business class. Also I loved the choice of music in the video.

Thanks for the review. Would you recommend the forward cabin.(seat 5a or k) instead of the main cabin? On our way to MEL I have booked seat 9k for the flight from LHR to HND ? I thought 9 k would give a nice view of the engine/wing. A little geeky i know, but this is the second time I will be flying in a reverse seat (the first time was on BA´s first klass cabin on a Triple Trident in 1979/80) Or would you recommend the forward cabin as it only have two rows

Reading the comments here it seems there are many and varied opinions on what is the best business suite. Looks like we all have different needs and views, which is human nature. Thank goodness you’re not all flying my fave airline. Leaves room for me.

Hey Dan, thanks for sharing. I was in along distance relationship, now married for 15 years. I am from England originally but was dating my wife now, who lives In Minnesota. We only saw each maybe 2 or 3 times a year due to the long distance and cost of flying. .
A couple of things I didn't notice about your experience vis a vis based on my previous experience in this class of service on ANA (I live in SF, so it was r/t SFO-NRT for me)... did the attendant assigned to you come by and introduce themselves by name to you once you boarded & settled into your seat to let you know they would be personally taking care of you? Did they give you that special bedding layer that is springy that helped with getting a good sleep? Did you avail yourself of the snack between the main meal and the arrival meal (mine was the Ippudo Ramen with corn and a pat a butter ;) ). If not, I'm hoping they take your unbiased review as CX input to make the experience better! My own experience on ANA remains the benchmark of 5 star business class. Happy new year! p.s. that delightful citrus drink they serve as the ANA special is Kabosu, a japanese citrus (which I think is related to the Filipino Calamansi, another delightful citrus), mixed with honey. I wish ANA would sell that by the gallon I would drink that all day..

The seats look great. The food looks ok. Hopefully the service will be as good or better than I experience when I fly Emirates Business Class.

Do you know if this new business class will only be in service from Heathrow to Haneda or also from Frankfurt? And furthermore, will it be installed in all 777 in coming years?
Would be great knowing that as I am going to visit Japan in 2021 or 2022 and am looking to save some money in order flying business class.
And wasn´t it possible speaking with the crew turning all lights off or do you think they have the order in doing so?
And do you think you have influence to the airline in changing light adjustments regarding future flights?

ANA is really one of the best airlines in the world. Their Haneda lounge is better than any lounge you find in europe. And their service is just always perfect. Whenever I get a chance I choose to fly ANA. Hopefully Japan will open up again soo, so we can enjoy their amazing product again.
I wonder if the lighting/service schedule was arranged to reduce jetlag? And I thought the breakfast looked nice. 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for a straightforward view of 'The Room'. I haven't flown in it yet, but would like to try it at least once. But from what you said, won't seek it out specifically. For me, it just doesn't exude the same class and style that Qsuites do.
The meal service, personal service (or lack thereof) and lighting was terrible for business class, they could really up their game there!

I’ve flown a lot of business class seats in my life, but not all, and I’d have to say I found qantas to be one of the best for overall experience with exceptionally comfortable beds. Finnair was a nightmare experience with prison like comfort in their seats, horrendous lighting and economy class level food.

3:30 Do ANA always leave the lights full on during takeoffs? Considering that's a night flight, it seems unsafe.
Was on FRA-HND today/yesterday and I noticed they kept the lights on there as well (NH224 their redeye flight)
