    +1 for Tucker Gott, He is definitely my inspiration to get into Paramotoring and watching him talk about and use the Scout, has brought this company to the forefront of my purchasing research. Most likely I will end up in the seat of a Scout.

    I should start making cheap music licenses for youtube channels. Apparently all I have to do is get some public domain 50s cocktail lounge music, add a garage band base line and loop about five seconds from it. Heck I bet it doesn't even have to be public domain, as long as I keep the loop short. The result is extremely annoying and repetitive musical fodder. I hope this trend dies soon. I feel we have Casey Neistat to thank for it...
    Back on topic, I am hoping to pick up a Scout Carbon in the next 6 months to a year. The engine cutoff safety is the main selling point. Torque reduction is second and the portability and fact that it looks insanely awesome help as well!

    The carbon fibre is a little more fragile than a titanium frame but the design is better. the material should handle vibration better as well as is it pretty easy to do minor repairs with a little resin and fibre cloth. Aside from the folding frames this one is the first real innovation in frame design in decades. Everyone has been focused on lightening their frames. Will be nice to see them continue to improve upon things

    Nice products and nice design. Though, saying that shattered carbon fiber is harmless is dubious. Since it breaks, it dissipates energy quite well, but it does leave splinter and sharp edges !

      I don't think Tucker's channel was very big until after he got his first Scout, so I have my doubts about that, and he has talked highly of it since his first video flying it. I don't see a paramotor company finding a kid with a half-ass (at the time) UA-cam channel, flying a Blackhawk around, and offer to sponsor him. Now, if they gave him his second one, I wouldn't blame them, I'm sure his channel has and will bring them a lot of business.

    I was a Sport Parachutist/ Skydiver for years, our National Association collected Reports and Stats on accidents and injuries and translated those into Training Manuals and DZ Safety Officers. I don’t think there is a similar effort in either paragliding or PPG. One aspect is paraglider and PPG pilots tend to be more individualistic and solo on my observation.

    Keep up the stellar inovations in this most affordable, magical, portable accessible aviation choice. There is the concept of "FALSE ECONOMY!" and when it comes down to comparing your WALLET vs SAFETY, most embrace the latter. As a Sailplane pilot, I'm now chomping at the bit, to train and step into this most affordable magical new oppurtunity to experience what few do in a life time. Bravo! for all the passion and effort spent on opening the door/skies to those who may only dream of what is so natural in our DNA...to be truly free and unbounded.

  • @MrJdsenior

    It's a beauty! Carbon, designed right, is the ultimate material, and beautiful. Tucker really likes his, and especially the anti-torque vanes. The startup feature is a good idea, as long as you can disable it, which apparently you can. Can you inflate the vest PRIOR To the water "landing"?
    When is someone going to start making a GOOD engine for these things? You know what I mean, an engine you can depend on year after year after year with only minor INFREQUENT maintenance, like pretty much every other class of aviation engine out there. MTBF on these engines, looking at the net seems to be measured in TENS, not THOUSANDS of hours. Seems like somebody should talk to Rotax or the like to build a GOOD engine. If somebody doesn't I MAY.

    What specifically happens during the training process. How many hours a day are spent training, do they first teach you in what is presumably a college classroom or just outside based learning? Also where did you stay/sleep at, did you have to get a hotel (for those that don't live near a training location)? Is it like a camping experience?

    The only thing that I don't like about the Scout is the under seat reserve. I would prefer it if the side pockets could be zipped on/off and then have a reserve container for either the left or right hand side (Just like the supair paramotor evo harness). I like having a large pocket under the seat so that i can put a stuff sack or camping gear into it!

    • @SCOUTaviation
      @SCOUTaviation  7 років тому +2

      Feel free not to use the underseat container.
      We dislike the idea of side mounted reserve as it would be an obstacle for the bar to move freely. Especially during takeoff and landing. Yet, this might be a personal preference.

    As are others.. I'm concerned about the netting protecting the Pilot from the props. I'm not bother that it is netting but why not encircle (if not completely) all the way to the harness? a few simple straps with velcro or buttons or even nothing co ensure that your elbow or finger felt net before it felt prop. I understand that with enough experience you would always move your hand rearward in the proper orientation (if at all) to prevent it from passing through the net.... but it appears as though you might be able to have a Prop Strike with your elbow. Maybe this is a non-issue but out seems like for less than half a euro or a dollar you could extent the webbing all the way to the seat. Maybe its not necessary but i don't think anyone would be offended by it!
    Scout seems really in tune with it's commenters and I appreciate that. Paramotor is a dream right now as it comes secondary to achieving my pilots license and seemingly costs over $10g to get into, but if I can make it happen, I am definitely leaning towards SCOUT!
    Thanks!

    • @montanawestphotography6671
      @montanawestphotography6671 6 років тому +1

      iTradeCrypto LIVE Tucker Gott had to dig out a carbon fiber sliver from his hand on day 3 of the 2017 ICARUS. His Scout busted in two places on a minor encounter with a tree. Then the clutch went out. He won the race because nobody else was flying a flat top and the finish line was MOVED from Nevada to Moab. He got a new Scout for free from Scout. Didn't the US distributor for Scout die on one? How many other deaths on a Scout?

    • @montanawestphotography6671
      @montanawestphotography6671 6 років тому +2

      Crazy Kuup These manufacturers hate SUPERDELL because if they implemented a crumple zone they would be telling the world that they have been selling outdated crap for decades. They all talk safety but their fog of deception includes saying their aluminum is almost as hard as stainless but they don't tell you the hardness numbers. SUPERDELL CLEARLY states the flat top is heat treated after welding by CERTIFIED AIRCRAFT WELDERS to 6061 hardness. There's a lot of hype out there but only SUPERDELL releases all the stats. Scout now has "safe start" which is a gimmick because if it malfunctions, and it will, it could leave you stranded. Yet, they say you can turn safe start off, which negates safe start. Any safety feature that you can turn off, on purpose or by accident, is in no way a safety feature. A safety feature is supposed to stop accidents or injury. If you can turn it off you just wasted your money. Personally I would just add a secondary killing switch because one is none and two is one.

    • @montanawestphotography6671
      @montanawestphotography6671 6 років тому

      Crazy Kuup I'm saving up for a flat top. I have never piloted. I'm in research mode. I'm also in the Bitterroot valley in Montana. It's usually windy here but we have some real nice days and plenty of high mountains for fly camping. I also want to incorporate rifle hunting into paramotoring. Considering the flat top set up correctly can carry up to 600 pounds I can fly out a deer I kill a quarter at a time. Nobody has ever done it and I want to be the first.

    • @streetwiseguitar5113
      @streetwiseguitar5113 6 років тому

      I gotta be honest - I came in to this with an open mind. I didn't know who Dell was. I've seen many vids of ppl face planting and even if the Flat Top has Dell's stigma, the safety features seem to be REALLY well thought out.

    Waiting on your 4-stroke engine. It will be nice to see what that motor can do when you get all of the kinks ironed out. And drop the weight. If Air Conception can come out with a competitive model that has electric start with clutch and weighs around 40lbs then why would I buy a competing product from you that weights almost 60 lbs? Please understand, I like your product and I'm not knocking your motors at all. But Air Conception has raised the bar and created a product that is very well made and weights a whole lost less. And they didn't use carbon fiber to achieve this.

    Under seat crumble zone is missing, someone is going to get spinal injury in case of low-altitude frontal collapse. The wing attached to this unit might be completely un-certified and this happens occasionally even to the best pilots. In case of water landing, there is no quick release harness, this unit will pull pilot to the bottom if the emergency inflatable flotation devices are dis-attached of fail to operate properly. It would be nice to have flotation integrated to this unit as a standard passive feature. In case of a ground impact the cage is not strong enough and may cause severe injury to the pilot or bystanders due to propeller strike. Netting is not strong enough to completely eliminate a chance of pilot's hand coming in contact with propeller in case of emergency situation.

      Well all but one: uncertified wing can be attached to any paramotor... So I will skip this argument.

      Could you please direct me to these certification requirements by EU. I can't find them.

    It’s way sexier and high tech looking and probably flies outstanding but never going to win the safety award vs a flat top.

    it is fragile. tucker just cracked his in a minor incident on the icarus race. the flat top is much much much sturdier.

    Where's a video showing how 'safe start' works? I want to see it shut off the prop in a stuck throttle situation, and a fall forward situation... 'we don't crash, so that's better to me", spoken like a true idiot.....cause people buying safe stuff are trying to crash....

      We have shot a detailed video solely about SafeStart. It will be released shortly...

    If you must add shit music can you upload it twice? Once without all the lousy music and the other one with and on a informative video you can’t watch with the sound off

    Get real music. You ruined your video by using this internet crap.

    I was waiting for the information on how this is "safer". What a joke. All paramotors now have the Italian 185cc 2 stroke engines. What cages are better? Certainly not this one.

    When are you guys gonna drop the fancy carbon shit and make a paramotor out of strengthened plastic that's actually affordable? 10k is a stupid amount for a hobby item considering it's essentially a big fan with a lawnmower engine strapped to it.

      There is a plastic paramotor on a market. Good for you, you have more choices. We are confident, that once you fly both you will notice the difference.
