- Join Paul and Suzanne in Bicester, as they go back in time to what was some of the first burger bars in the UK. No Burger King or McDonald's back in the early 70's.
They try the original Burger and Fries, and see if the taste reminds them of there very first Wimpy burger. They travel 45 miles from home to the nearest Wimpy Bar, as only 96 remain in England and Scotland.
Bicester is a historical market town, garden town, and civil parish in the Cherwell district of North eastern Oxfordshire in south-central England.

The Wimpy was a great place to meet your pals when we were young... and a cola float probably lasted us all evening, just so we could stay out of the cold!! A lovely trip down memory lane guys and another great day out....Bicester looks very lovely, thanks for sharing your trip 😊
Yes Wimpy Bar was a great meeting place, back in the day, and its a shame that there are so few of them remaining. We both agreed that the 2024 version was not what we remembered. Thanks for watching Annette, and maybe we will do it again, and you can come.
Hi guys this was great. We thought Wimpy had finished until we saw one on a recent visit to Kings Lynn. We didn't go in but it looked a lot like the ones from the 70s. Dave remembers the Wimpy bar in Coventry as a youngster. They do invoke memories of our youth like c&a, woolies and allied carpets etc.... we enjoyed the look around Bicester glad you found the card factory. Yes we saw that there was a Wimpy in Kings Lynn when we were researching which would be closest for us to visit. I really thought that I would recognise the taste of the burger as soon a i bit into it, but no, it really was just like so many burgers we have had. Anyway, we enjoyed the visit to Bicester even though it was hard to find things of interest to film. Thank you for watching......Paul and Suzanne.

Haven't had a Wimpy burger for years.
Better keep your eyes open on your journeys for a Wimpy Bar. There are very few around now.
That is a decent High street in Bicester, compared to many others. Shame there is not a lot more History in the town, but enjoyed your walk anyway. Thank you for sharing.

Trying a Wimpy burger again was something we have wanted to do for ages, even though Paul was a bit disappointed. Shame we had to travel so far to do it.

The quarter pounder has had a brown bun for at least 40 years lol which is what they’ve sold you.
Thanks for that, and you are right, but we are pretty sure that when we went into Wimpy bars 52 years ago, they were white.
I do not think spending over £12 for burger and a drink. you can get steak meal in some places for less.
The only thing seems to be better value is the 2 for 1 pudding.
I think it went because it was too expensive compared to other new places that opened.
Yes the burger and fries with a coke does seem expensive at over 12 pounds each, compared to McDonalds which I think Suzanne said is about £7:50. I think it's a shame that there are so few now, maybe that's why it's expensive because of the distance between them for deliveries etc. Thank you for your comment 👍
