I read the article about the illegal crab traps, thanks for discovering them! i was crabbing, and only catching females. no wonder there weren't any males!
I dove a wreck last sunday in the puget sound and the visibility was the best I've seen. It was a big surprise. Glad you guys got to take advantage of it aswell.
Me too! must've been there for a couple of weeks to a couple of months. as i was crabbing there, we weren't catching many big ones. and only females. no wonder it was affecting us!
@@PNWSamson oh really? I thought they were all stingey haha I'm clueless when it comes to the ocean. Luckily, I've learned lots so far from you videos haha
You've got some great videos man, I'm thinking of maybe starting to free dive myself. I live in the lowermainland I'm a "poor" sfu student LOL... any recommendations on a good dive suit/school for beginner training?
Used is the cheapest option but lots of competition for used gear. As soon as stuff gets posted it's scooped up so you need to be on the ball. BC Spearfishing & freediving group is the best place to find used stuff. You could always buy surf gear and dive with it but that's not ideal. Especially in the winter, you will get cold fast. Divingsports in Vancouver has a package deal. Get every you need for around $600 plus tax. It's a big investment but once you have the gear you have the gear. As for training, Oceanoid and Sea to Sky are great options around Vancouver!
This is the one I bought. It came with the bladder and you can blow it up manually. I know some people use a vehicle car tube for their floats. www.amazon.ca/Inflatable-Snorkeling-Instructor-Free-Diving-Spearfishing/dp/B0861BPYQ6/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=free+dive+float&qid=1620749731&sr=8-3
The shallow end is roughly 2-3m depending on the tide. The deeper side of things is around 12-13m all fairly shallow, relatively speaking. The majority of the wreck, or at least the interesting sits at around 7m.
What an adventure! Super cool. I gotta check this out one day.
You won't regret it! The Ready is a great shore dive.
So cool!
thanks! Best dive in a while!
Sunflower star! Yes!
Great way of helping the environment finding illegal traps nice. Great job bud
Thanks! Definitely helps bring awareness!

Yeah pretty annoying. Happy to bring some more attention! Hopefully more people out looking now.
Cool dive man
Thanks brother!
Was that your buddy who carved that statue?
I just saw your article on CBC. Thank you for your dedication. You're one hell of a guy.
Thanks man! It's the least I can do. I've cancelled out all the fish I've harvested thus far now at least!
Same
Great find on the illegal crab traps guys! Hope they bust those pricks
Thanks! Yeah it's a pretty big problem. It's getting really hard to bring one home now a days 😟

Cheers. Nothing beats good vis. Hopefully it stays around!
Nice vid. One time I had to fill my socks with rocks and tie them to my waist so I could go for a dive.
Haha yeah. Only do that once. My buddy had to tape rocks to his leather belt once. Roll with the punches!
I just read the article about the illegal crab traps on CBC- Way to go!

Nice! Looked great.
Cheers man. Good times for sure!
Haha whenever I forget anything, anywhere, my wife will say: "so like diving then". Another great video, thanks for posting it.
Haha yeah, I've been lucky so far. I'm making a dive check list bumper sticker. Thanks!
Very nice. How deep was that ship approx? Visibility was pretty good.
Thanks man. Deepest around 12m shallowest around 2m. Really easy wreck to explore on breath hold. It's awesome!
@@PNWSamson Thanks, will have to convert that, I am an old guy feet inches miles per gallon...lol
@@bjm23vancity92 haha, in freediving you get made fun of if you use feet. I'm the same way. The wreck is between 7' to 45'ish. Haha.
I can see all the jellys around you.. I hate jellys!
None here can really hurt you might. They are trippy to watch while in the water. I love em!

@@LloydfromCanada haha cheers man . Yeah we are lucky, nothing to really kill us out their. Just cold, dark, high current waters!
looks amazing I gotta get out there sometime
For sure. It's a longer drive (I guess depends on where you live) but totally worth it.
Great video man!
Thanks! I checked out your channel. I'll watch some videos! Cheers!
Cheers brother
Great stuff! And great viz eh! Your videos are consistently improving--this one in particular. Keep it up!
Thanks man! I appreciate the feedback. Can't wait to get back to the island! Cheers!

That was one of the best dives ever!! Epic vid bro 🔥
Thanks man! Super fun time for sure. Hopefully more days like that to follow!
The video was meditative man - amazing diving and the vis... unreal!
Thanks man! Calm, clear water. Good for the soul!
such amazing shots, these videos get better every time
Thanks dude! I just get to share the sights I see. The ocean deserves the credit!
Were there that few fish (not including the shiners) or you didn’t film most
No, didn't see many. Just that one rockfish and two Lingcod. Some little goby fish but yeah, maybe they were well hidden 🤞
Did you dive alone & going to that ship?
I don't dive alone. I'll snorkel is shallow water for crab alone but that's about it. It can be risky. That ship I was with two other people.
What brand of tube do you use for your home base we have bought 4 and they have all broke after the first trip looking for one that will last a while

Aw man your ruined it!! Jk, thanks buddy!
What time of the year was that filmed?
This was from the last week of April.
