Scrabble! I used to love playing this along with the contestants. I still do, but I have to do it differently these days. I'm not crazy about chuck Willery, but I can say he's hosted some of my favorite games. Scrable, Lingo, the Love connection, Wheel...
Hasbro why is this show NOT on Buzzr? It's been 5 years in June and still not aired please make some agreement and let Buzzr air this in 2020 we have enough Match Game excluding MGHSH.
I agree too, "Scrabble" needs to be added to the BUZZR line up siny it never aired on The Game Show Network. BUZZR keeps adding more "Match Game". Last fall, they added "Match Game PM" at 7:00 PM weeknights and last month, BUZZR dropped the 1984-1985 episodes of "Let's Make a Deal" which aired at 3:00 PM on Saturday afternoons to make room for another hour of "Match Game". Once again, "Let's Make a Deal" is off on BUZZR.
What BUZZR should had done last fall was keep "Sale of the Century" on at 7:00 PM weeknights leave "Let's Make a Deal" where it was at and make a deal with Hasbro to put "Scrabble" on at 7:30 PM weeknights. Also put on episodes of the 1993 short-lived NBC Daytime version as well "Time Machine" and "Scattergories".
Sam, there are 2 different scenarios he gives. In this episode: Taking a guess before you pull any tiles at all, that way your opponent still has to worry about all 3 stoppers in play. 1993 episode: You’ve already pulled two tiles, you already place one letter and you’re fairly certain the other letter is a stopper. So why not take a guess then and pass that stopper to your opponent? That’s the difference I was pointing out
This is the only episode (I think) in which Shelley guessed the word, incorrectly @ 8:42 & got a 10-sec. penalty and Michael let "Time Ran Out," after getting the 1st 3 words, correctly, that fast @ 18:50, who (unlike Shelley) didn't get a 10-sec. penalty. In spite of that, it did matter and Shelley redeemed herself!
"If horses could fly, it's the first thing you'd think about!" (AUDIENCE LAUGHING) What?! That's the craziest thing I ever heard! Normally, I don't get it.
See 15:57 where Michael reaches over to Linda and gives her a conciliatory kiss after defeating her. While this was certainly a chivalrous gesture for a man to make in 1988, no way this would be acceptable in 2020! Also, Michael had to suffice with just a handshake from Shelley after she defeated him; though it should be mentioned that her newlywed husband was watching inches away backstage...😎
Chuck has even said that this show should’ve continued regardless of who’s hosting it. This was a great show, especially since it ran for 6.5 seasons (July 1984-March 1990, January to June 1993).
The "H" in COCKROACH never appeared in the shuffle for either contestant. I think Michael was tripped out by seeing three "C"'s in the shuffle and he seemed to hesitate taking close to two seconds to pick each letter.
Mm-hmm, you mean, it was a ol' board game. Hey, you know what the ol' saying goes, "It's the crossword game you've played all your life, but never quite like this!" Do you know exactly what I'm talking about?
OAD 11/29/88. Found Shelley’s plug in the Youngstown Vindicator and she had a 4 day run!
Chuck, Wink, Bill, Jim, Bob Barker, and Alex are all the best hosts, such a wonderful generation on Game Show Hosts.
Yes, they were, and they were old ones, actually.
Bob Barker died today.

It’s Chuck Woolery
Hey, it's Woolery, not Willery!
Man Chuck seems like such a great guy. Down to earth, humble, and truly loves his guests.
I loved the sound effects of this game show.
So do I
Me too.
Me, three.

agree - this needs to be brought back somewhere!! Buzzr would be PERFECT
@@arcade_matt Especially since "$ale of the Century" is on Buzzr.
Daniel Lewis the whole series is in tact as well as the 1993 revival so I would love to see both versions on Buzzr

I thought that he was saying “pens” also. Enunciate, Chuck!
The man is originally from Kentucky. Give him a break!
Good episode!! Chuck Woolery is the best game-show host!
when did this aire on TV? 1989?
My favorite game show
Chuck mentioned passing stoppers at 15:02. He mentioned that again in the finale of the 1993 version of "Scrabble".
True, but it’s not the same method he talks about in this episode
@@namk19 What do you mean?

11:41: Okay writers you got some splaining to do for that clue! LOL
Shelley said, "Oh, I wish I knew it for a thousand dollars, but I don't."
it was so popular in 80s....
18:50, Chuck is so surprised!
Guy was too slow. Shelley should've been toast.
No kidding. How did he not get the last one?
"If horses could fly, it's the first thing you'd think about!"

What?! That's the craziest thing I ever heard! Normally, I don't get it.
I feel like Pegasus isn't a legal word in Scrabble.... proper noun.
Unlike the board game, proper noun were used.
Agreed.
Bring this show to Buzzr!!!
Fuck yesh!!!!!! Been wanting to see this show for almost 2 decades!!!!

I gotta wonder...who nailed JUSTICE off the clue in the bonus sprint? That was hella tough.
I’d be shocked if no one did
I did.
I got it before they started adding letters. it just popped into my head.
Wow ! I was faster than Shelley the champion !
I think the J helped Shelley which is why she got JUSTICE
They need to bring this game show back.

Hmm, I sure hope so.
She got lucky
If she didn't guess the wrong answer right off the bat, and Michael gets 1 more letter, he wins.
The "H" in COCKROACH never appeared in the shuffle for either contestant. I think Michael was tripped out by seeing three "C"'s in the shuffle and he seemed to hesitate taking close to two seconds to pick each letter.
I didn't know Scrabble was a game show. I thought it was a board game
It is a board game. this is a take off of the board game.
