I heard (or read) somewhere that her brother Fincent has a perfect pitch and he helped Amira a lot with identifying the notes of the songs. Such a beautiful, talented and supportive family 🙏

i never really liked opera songs since i couldn't understand the lyrics but when i saw the video of Amira's audition, by some miracle i became hooked and clicked every video of her performances with lots of replays in between...nevermind about not understanding the lyrics...every rendition of her is beautiful enough...Now there, that's what you call addiction....but she deserves all the admiration and appreciation. Oh my, you'd never see someone like her in 100 years..

And now, after winning the Holand Got Talent competition in November-December 2013, at the age of 9, she was noticed by the great conductor of our time, the Dutchman Andre Rieu, who returned from distant Australia where he gave concerts and after a short master class he showed her in big concert twice in the middle of summer and once before Christmas 2014.
Only after the first song in the competition in 2013, there were more than 56 million on UA-cam

I've watched many, many of these talent contests from around the world over the last couple of years and, truly there are some pretty amazing undiscovered talents around the world, but this little girl almost far and, away beats anything I've ever seen on all of them... I think Jonathan and, Charlotte are right up there in the top 3 or 4, best of all and, all of them are incredibly beautiful to watch and, listen to but, I personally don't think any of them can exceed what this amazing little girl has brought to the public's entertainment imagination like what she has... Try and make sure you catch her first ever appearance on X Factor USA where she totally wows the audience, and indeed all of America, not only with her out of this world adult sounding voice, but dazzling looks and personality. Then progress through that competition, which she wins, and has now gone on to International stardom and has produced multiple albums. She has duet -ed with Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Katherine Jenkins amongst many others. She has worked a lot with the renowned composer and pianist David Foster, who is Canadian.

no this isnt hard for a soprano to sing. its mostly in head voice. now the tenor version is absolutely freakishly hard to sing....they have to sing the top in a full covered sound. none the less I still think this version is beautiful.

I've probably seen this video a hundred times. I'll probably see it a thousand times. I can't get enough of hearing Amira's voice. She has the voice of an angel, pure, clear and perfect. It moves me to tears every time. I have stopped trying to find words that adequately describe the beauty of her voice. Her performances are all beautiful. And one of the things that impresses me so much is that Amira makes singing difficult arias look easy.I view Amira's videos daily because, in this hard world, her voice, her performances bring me peace. What a wonderful young lady she is; intelligent, a talented performer, humble and down to earth.
I've always heard this aria sung by tenors, but this is an exceptional performance by a soprano!

Amira's solid presentations and exceptional voice surpassed all the soprano's i have ever heard for the thrilling entertainment that they were ... i am so glad i have lived long enough - to be lucky enough - to hear HER sing a few of the great arias... i have put my CD's of other great sopranos at the bottom of the pile because her voice is far and away the best ever to listen to ...

You say not as good as Jackie , but Amira is self taught and Jackie had a vocal coach before she ever went on Americas got talent ,and that is totally not the same . You can't pull off what Amira does like that the same way Jackie does with coaching. So you can't compare. So in my mind Amira has the better voice.
***** Very true, Jackie has corrected many interviewers who have called her an opera singer. She has released 5 albums, and has a professional repertoire of over 60 songs, but has done a total of 3 short opera arias, and only does 2 of them in recent years. Of those 5 albums, 4 of them have no opera arias on them at all.

The key is that playing a musical instrument has not much to do with voice production and voice control in singing.
Mozart loved to write arias starting in his early youth. He wrote his first concert arias at age 9 (Va dal furor portata, K. 21), and his first operas at age 11-12. And he loved high notes. But what's relevant here, is that he could also sing his own soprano arias (that is until puberty hit him while traveling in Italy).
His father taught him how to play the piano and the violin well, but was unable to teach him anything about singing. It is the professional singers he met while traveling through Europe and for whom he was writing opera arias or concert pieces, that took a shine to the young boy and gave him lessons in singing. Concerning his singing, he learnt nothing from his father and sister, both accomplished piano/violin musicians. For they knew nothing about the techniques of singing.
Same thing for Amira. Her family knew nothing about singing, and warned her that they had no instruction to give her, that she had to practice on her own. Amira invented by herself her own technique of breathing, how to produce voice from the diaphragm, not from the larynx, but her elocution, her phrasing, her linking of notes, are still rudimentary. She could never learn on her own the fine details of professional singing. You can tell, by comparing to the Callas recording (her model for her first two performances), and also to the Pavarotti recording (that Amira is also taking as her model for Nessun Dorma) that Amira's voice is still very unsteady and shaky, and that she does not control her vibrato, which is normal for a young, untrained voice.
But all this are things that can be learnt as soon as she gets a good voice teacher. But she has the beauty of tone and timbre, and her prodigious ability and will to learn.
This is what Andre Rieu immediately spotted when he first heard her, and immediately suggested that she came to him to get some basic lessons. Upon which she started improving on the spot.
So don't get involved in sterile and absurd discussions with all those young people who know nothing about the problems of production of voice. They simply vent out their volatile emotions, which is what teenagers are good at, either rage, hatred, or passionate infatuations, and wild enthusiasms. This is what most of the comments here, to the You Tube videos, are about.
There's nothing to learn from them (except once in a while, from commenters who have some expertise). And, for you, discussing with them is like shooting hot air into the wind.
I replied on her first audition and first I heard of her and made ref to Jackie without realizing her true talent as time went on in this competition. While I said id not say who I thought was better due to them both being great and music being subjective I will say however. That just because someone is classically taught does not invalidate their work against someone self taught. So hardly a way to pick whos "better" imo. I for one say they are both great and different and will leave it to voice coaches and judges to pick whos "better"

The first person I watched on one of these UA-cam videos was Susan Boyle. I wasn't prepared for her audition, and neither was anyone in the audience. Her performance led me to later watch Paul Potts audition a couple of years earlier and he, too, won everyone over. And, then, a couple of years later came Amira's audition on Holland's Got Talent. It brought tears to my eyes, and I have watched it several times. The thing that Amira has over Susan Boyle and Paul Potts is that the video quality of their follow-up performances are not as good as the film of their audition. Whereas all three of Amira's performances on Holland's Got Talent are excellent videos, and each performance got better. Then, her appearance the following year with Andre Rieu was spectacular -- 10,000 people in the audience and she won them all over. In the years before these talent shows there was a young singer from Norway -- Sissel Kyrkjebo -- who appeared on Norwegian television in different musical programs that eventually lead to her first album at the age of 16. It became the best-selling album in Norway. Her second album, a Christmas album a year later, set a new record. In a way, her beginnings as a singer remind me of Amira's. Sissel opted to pass on international stardom, but she has a legion of fans around the world. She continues to perform, and she is always great. There are dozens of Sissel's songs here on UA-cam. The early Sissel reminds me of the Amira of today. I hope The Netherlands take to Amira the way Norway takes to Sissel. They are both wonderful.
I discovered Sissel Kyrkjebo looking for other female opera voices to calibrate what I'm hearing in Amira. You're very right. What a beautiful voice - Sissel is so precise and smooth. Almost identical tones with Amira on some vocal forms.

ik heb geluisterd naar Laura. ze heeft een prachtige stem ,maar als je Amira nu 12 hoort weet je echt niet wat je meemaakt ,zo ongelooflijk goed en uniek. Laura is een kind dat mooi kan zingen, Amira is een geweldig zangeres die nog kind is.

This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard in my life. Such beautiful singing, perfect tone and pitch. A natural talent that very few people are born with. I don't understand the words because I don't speak Italian, but that's okay. The beauty of her voice moves me to tears.
