😊 I just love your watercolor sketches, Becky! It amazes me how confident and fast you are! I'm sure it comes from lots of practice, and I hope to get there one day! ❤
Thanks to you, Becky . I painted in a cafe in the hospital while my husband was having some tests done. The worry was less, and the time passed fast. My husband was OK, and the painting was fun. Thank you.
I was happy to see you drawing with my favourite pencils. I love The Faber-Castell Pitt oil based pencils. You’re right, they give a very smooth drawing experience. My second favourites are the Derwent Drawing Pencils. Although not quite as smooth, their landscape colours are lovely. This was a great video. I really enjoy your narration as well. Cheers!
Wonderful tutorial Becky with some new color combinations and adding the softer look of the oil pencils in the middle ground. I was inspired during the whole tutorial. Also I loved the lady who came to admire your work, she represented all of us who you inspire. Thank you
Lovely video once again Becky. Love it when you draw people. Particularly how you begin at the head and gradually work your way down without getting bogged down with detail. Great
Thanks. I simply attached a gooseneck tripod to the table edge and film. I also had a tripod holding my iPad on another table beside me. You can see both in this video.
Hi Becky and thank you for your wonderful tutorials. I am not new to watercolor but I am new to fountain pen sketching. I purchased the Etchr mixed media book you used and the exact ink and pens you used in your video but I'm having trouble with the ink smearing even after allowing it to dry overnight. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
There are two types of the Etchr mix media book (hot press and cold press). Mine is the cold-press paper, I'm able to paint right away without seeing the ink smear. Perhaps you are using the smooth hot-press paper?
Becky I love the effect of that oil based pencil ! And I’m amazed though, that watercolor would be able to be painted over the oil based pencil. It seems like the watercolor would just “pool” around the oil and separate? And would that combination work on 100% watercolor paper?
It really depends on how we use the pencil, if we do a lot of shading work more than just creating thin lines, the paint may "pool" around. I think it works the same on all papers.
Thats a beautiful picture. Ive heard a lot of people say Noodler's black ink takes a very long time to dry, does the brown #41 also take a long time? Thank you!
It really depends on the paper you are using. the brown #41 ink may not be waterproof on some mix media papers. I've used it on many brands of watercolor papers, the ink stays clean with the paint without waiting time. I always paint right away.
Have you tried cheap joes American journey ‘Hardbound Sketchbook - This wirebound sketchbook is filled with 60 sheets of 70 lb. sketch paper. ‘… no idea what company is actually making these sketchbooks….smile…. But the larger size works well for me… although my sketches do not compare to yours…love your videos…

I love your videos and little adventures! How do you set up to video in the cafes?
Thanks. I simply attached a gooseneck tripod to the table edge and film. I also had a tripod holding my iPad on another table beside me. You can see both in this video.

Yes, I have the hot press. I will order the cold press. Thank you.

How do you choose the place where you want to paint?
It could be anywhere with window views containing foliage and sky.
