It literally translates to “i devote myself to the Mystic Law of the Lotus Sutra”, and it has very profound meaning. Mystic law represents the law of cause and effect where cause and effect are simultaneous, and it permeates all phenomena and life in the universe. Mystic Law is not “mystic” or magical, but so profound that even Buddha wisdom cannot comprehend. Most importantly, it’s the name of Buddha nature inherent within us. Chanting nam myoho renge kyo awakens and calls forth our Buddha nature.
