  • Today I'm doing an artist Q&A and answering lots of questions about social media, content creation, and my routine while I draw these two sweet little ghost friends in a bookshop!
Thanks so much to all of you who asked questions, this was fun to make so I'll definitely be doing another in the near future!
The illustration was drawn in Adobe Photoshop with the 'natural feel' brush from Kyle's megapack.

Honestly my favorite point was that you need to start learning from people only a few stepa ahead you rather than top cuz it just balances everything out and the feeling of negativity that comes when you are just looking at someone with 1 million followers get lost. Thank you so much mimi for these amazing content.💖🤗

Absolutely! Sometimes looking to large and successful accounts can be inspiring and sometimes it can be overwhelming, it's nice to have a mix of both or just whatever feels right at the time 😊

I haven’t been watching your videos too long, but I’m already a hardcore fan. Love your artwork, and your sinergy with your partner really shows through in the content you create. Thank you for all the great advice and having the courage to put yourself out here.

Thank you 4 sharing Mimi 🌸 I really enjoy this kind of split few, watching you draw and listening to your experiences and perspectives!
I really admire, how you communicate - to me it feels so real and honest and free (I am quiet shy in sharing my own perspectives) - it is so inspiring to listen to 😊
I was pretty surprised, as you explained being "chaotic and unstructured" - to me all your presence, content and achievements seem very clear, reflected, structured and so well to understand!
How did you develop your way of thinking and mindset around those things? The hard ships, being gentle with one self, the courage to call yourself an illustrator, going for it, sharing your journey, your boundaries, staying true to your journey... I'd love to learn more about that, as it impresses me so much!!
Maybe you'd want to share some time?
Best wishes from the Alps, Beth😊

This video was really insightful and I'm grateful for the tips that you gave regarding managing social media. Fear of not being a good enough as an artist has held me back a lot from posting videos or images online, but I never thought of sharing the process! I always think about posting the final product on social media and it is quite stressful. Thank you for your advice! I feel more inspired and mindful of how I want to approach my creative process while sharing it online.

Thank you for sharing! I feel that I am at that stage that I need to post daily because I am trying to build my following. It is a lot of work, I agree! As for UA-cam, I am re-assessing it... like how I want it to be.. what kind of content do I want to put out. I used to do a lot of cardmaking videos because that's where I started but I create more art now than making cards... and like you said, I think I need to give myself realistic goal as well. I want to make money with my art but it's been slow and not an easy journey!

Thank you for being here for us. I've just started my Instagram with my watercolor. I'm not looking to get anything from it now but you convinced me that it's nice to see your progress in one place. Also I've found some great artists there and frankly it's motivating to see beautiful art and saying to yourself maybe in a few years I'll be there too. Your content is awesome. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for being so sincere and down-to-earth about your content and mentality toward it. You're right, explaining all of this does make it feel easier it is obtainable for me and my circumstances =) Just a little every day and put effort into it. The world wants instant results with minimal work, but going slow and being yourself is personally so much more rewarding and healthy.
It wasn't touched on, but I was wondering if you needed to file as a real business in your country if you intend to make money off it? (Like taxes, merchandise, art store, prints, commissions, etc), And how do you combat art theft and plagiarism on the internet? I see these questions might go together if the latter happened, and I don't see many creators talk about those circumstances.
Thank you for everything you and your partner do, Mimi. I really love the second ghost's =O face and the hearts on the tablecloth

I heard somewhere that having an image related to you helps your audience connect with you better. So you can put your real face or you can make an avatar of yourself (it doesn't even have to be human)
Ps: I'm in love with your channel. I've been binge watching since I foundit yesterday and I cannot thank you enough for sharing your journey with us so transparently. I always though that if I was to succed I should have started at 20 and have a huge following and just post my best art everyday. I've never been so hopeful of my dreams jajajs Thank you. To you and your husband for making this incredible channel.

Hi mimi, I first came across your channel a month ago.
I prefer photoshop as well because I don't have ProCreate either haha.
And on the other hand, I actually really enjoy your real-time art videos because I don't feel the pressure/ rush of having to quickly make art. It feels like a 'draw with me' content, which I truly enjoy; hence, why I have subscribed.
I even appreciate that you have been giving detailed content in your video descriptions.
You have been truly inspiring for me to continue my art and I am definitely grateful. ♡

It’s such a big job to be an artist and to be a content creator on various social channels and I enjoyed hearing about how you go about it. I love the part where you were mentioning the bad comments "my 2 year old can draw better than you"
I get a lot of hateful comments on my channel, the one that stuck with me the most, was when I was making a video reviewing the wall art quality of Teepublic, and I ordered from a viewer's shop, and the design was lovely, quality was good, but I got a comment "only a jew will think this is good art"
Honestly it hurt me more since they were talking about someone else's art, and that artist was just a beginner, and I had to explain to her that most likely that comment had nothing to do with her art skills, and everything to do with the commenter being racist.
Anyway, binge-watching you for about 2 hours now, and a new sub :)
I see you do photoshop... but do you also maybe have procreate brushes? would love to buy some :)

Heya Mimi! I came across your YT just a couple days ago & I've got such a bunch of inspiration + lessons learnt from your videos & IG posts, so thank you sooo much 💜💜💜
I noticed you draw in RGB, does this affect your printed products in any way or do you colour correct your files meant for print? If yes, what's the best way to do it?
    😊

    • @MimimooIllustration
      @MimimooIllustration  2 роки тому +1

So glad you're enjoying my videos! I draw in RGB because these illustrations are primarily for Instagram, if I'm drawing for a picture book I draw in CMYK from the start. I haven't printed many of my designs yet but yes I could adjust in Photoshop over to CMYK and test a proof 😊
