    So a K&N panel replacement filter and a ecu tune will do the same thing at a fraction of the price. Looks like the power gain is from the ecu flash the dealership does and not the intake box. It does clean up the engine bat and looks sharp, and if you do it yourself and not pay stealership for parts and labour it is something to consider. I would like to see a dyno pull test. 1: stock, 2: stock filter with ECU tune, 3: with intake, 4: with intake and tune .

    I just bought a 20 Denali about to install the new Cold air inductions system. It made 15 rwhp on a 19 5.3 Chevy so it’s bound to make that on a 6.2! Then the 3.5” Magnaflow catback. Only system out that uses 3.5” pipe.

    I also have a 2020 AT4 with the 6.2 equipped. Just want to make sure I am understanding the programming process correctly; purchasing is from shop chevy parts provided you with a labor redemption code from GM and your local dealer updated the ECM? Did you notice anything different? I am close to purchasing the K&N 63-3109 as it has dyno results of +15.7rwhp and +32.5lbft and that does not require any tuning/updates to the ECM. Thanks in advance for any insight you may have.

    • @barynovacek5982
      @barynovacek5982  4 роки тому

      Yes I bought it though Shop Chevy Parts with the link I have provided. There was the code there for the labor as well that came with it. I installed myself and then drove it to my dealer provided them the code and they did the programming. the programming is for the ECM to recognize the increased air flow this provides. Even if you bought it directly from GM when ordering your truck they would have put it on at the dealer and the programmed it and it would have cost more. If you go build the truck on GM it will also tell you it increases the HP by about 15. Can I feel that not really but it is there when and if needed for hauling etc. Plus I like the cleaner look as well under my hood. Hope that helped. As a side note I talked to the dealer BEFORE I bought and they said that was all fine and yes to get the ECM adjusted so that it didn't set off other codes and cause other issues. I would talk to your local dealer services before as well.

    Have you replaced the filter at this point? I have the same setup but can't seem to get a hold of a replacement filter. One it has is just too dirty and damaged at this point.

    • @barynovacek5982
      @barynovacek5982  Рік тому

      I have not replaced it for multiple reasons. 1) I drive low amounts of miles and most is on pavement with it. Mine looks the same today in there. I have taken it out and blew it off to get loose dirt out. When it gets bad I will use something like a K&N recharge kit to wash and then reoil it. I expect it will be in there long after I get rid of the truck and I drive my trucks 20 plus years.

    My dealer says the GM CAI is not worth it. What is your opinion?

    • @barynovacek5982
      @barynovacek5982  4 роки тому +1

      My opinion is for the most part is is not worth it for performance as far as I can tell. But then again changing the square trim piece on the tail pipes doesn't need to be changed either. Part of the changes are for personal looks and cleanliness (not huge plastic boxes) when you look under the hood or work on your truck. The looks is way better. I have a high flow air filter (K&N or similar) in every car. Easier to just clean occasionally and again looks better then a black box. As for performance it does get you that extra 15HP. If you ordered the CAT back exhaust from GM it comes with the same CAI that I have on mine. So that being said they offer it as an option because it is high profit margin parts and gives some performance upgrade and better looks and sound. IF I looked at it as how much I spent for 15HP no it is not worth it. But, I look at it from looks, sound, performance, and enjoyment of my truck overall when I look at, drive it, or others see it and like the look as well with being different and not just another same old truck. All pieces you have to think about in your purchases. Hope this helps.

      You can't really do it bad. If you followed what I did it should be fine. BUT you need to get it tuned because the computer will not be reading the right amount of air on the air sensor and will be trying to compensate. That could cause some roughness until it is adjusted. I would let them know when you take it in and they will take care of it all for you.

On the website is the following that you take to them. NOTE: The cost of reprograming the ECU is included in the cost of this kit. The dealer is instructed to charge the refresh to Labor Code 0601558. That is the labor code so you don't pay for it. Congrats and I hope you enjoy.

All you did is clean up the under hood appearance of the engine, by removing the resonator assembly. Your performance and MAF reading will be affected by the removal of the resonator. The resonator smooths out the airflow of the incoming air through the MAF sensor and any gain in HP is just due to the cotton filter vs the paper.

      The code as on the page description. Here it is again The dealer is instructed to charge the refresh to Labor Code 0601558. That is the labor code so you don't pay for it.

      Not at all. as even they did the install on the programming. Even the pipes I had put on had one spot that rattled and they fixed under warranty.

      Once you put on the CAI you need to go have it tuned to match at the dealership or your MAP sensor will not work correctly. That is how you get that extra 15HP

    GMC Cold Air Intake is GARBAGE, ordered a 2019 AT4 6.2 L 10 speed with this GARBAGE and it only put out 3hp 2tq, had it dynoed, 344 hp 370 tq at wheels didn't put out as much hp as my 2017 Silverado 6.2 L 8 speed with K&N Cold Air Intake, 365hp 390 tq. Went and bought K&N Cold Air Intake went to 359hp and 384 tq, GMCs garbage isn't worth installing, as you see by the #s.
