How I place it is that each and every save is a different planet within a small section of the Rimworld There are other sections of Rimworlds on other edges of human civilisation that is vastly different from what we know (in a way that makes all modded content also canon)

Dirtmoles, Wasters, and Yttakins and Impids were probably the first Xenohumans, adapted for different colonization challenges (underground, toxic, cold, hot). Highmates and Hussars, and possibly Genies, were created much later by groups like the Empire for soldiers, pleasure slaves and engineers. Pigskins were an accident, and Neanderthals were intentionally resurrected. Sanguophages, as we know, were Archotech creations.

I honestly think this is the best utopia that's actually better than "all united under 1", this kind of utopia actually opens up to many freedom and culture, rules and beliefs, instead of classic star trek humanity united. Sure there are some drawbacks, but that's what makes us human.
There is the additional wrinkle that rim years are not the same as "normal" years, despite the days still being 24 hours on this planet. This could potentially imply that the "5500" start date is actually 5500 "local time", potentially being the number of rimyears since the planet was colonized. Most likely it is a game play abstraction, but nevertheless it is a distinct possibility.
If i remember correctly, one of the scenarios or something like that, mentions a cryptosleep enthusiast who barely got to make his cryptosleep because the tech still didnt exist or something like that, and so, it was an older date than 2100, althought i may be wrong
It would be cool if in each new game a player starts a special settlement/faction is spawned for each of the default starts the player does not choose. It would be extra cool if each changed as the game years passed.

I suspect the rise of the archotechs coincides with the fall of Earth. Archotechs are specifically described as orders of magnitude more intelligent than humans, and the established power structures among humanity would react violently to such an emergent superintelligence. By that point humanity had already mastered genetic engineering to the point of creating various genetic castes, which would then become the Yttarkin and so forth. It's entirely possible that humanity had mechanoids already integrated into the Earth society, allowing Earth to be more of a throneworld than an active world. This means that the violent reaction of the powers that be could easily be contained to that singular world, rather than affecting the human diaspora. It's entirely possible that mechanoid worlds are a result of the equivalent of a von Nuemann probe with vague orders. Orders like "Optimise the environment" rather than "Optimise the environment for human life" could easily lead to them terraforming a world into something completely hostile to humanity. Humanity would respond by developing something to destroy that, which is where the insectoids come in. Humans using their mastery over genetic engineering to forge a weapon not even they can control, in the hope of stopping something they unleashed via ignorance. Getting back to my original point. I think the fall of Earth coincides either with the first Archotech or the beginning of the mechanoid wars as the transcendent AI's reaction to the violence displayed by humanity upon Earth. They saw humanity as a hazard to even themselves, and if they were programmed to protect humanity at all costs, the only way to protect us from ourselves is to put us either in storage or the ground. We often see mechanoids in ancient dangers with cryptosleep caskets, so it's possible that is a remnant of the era when the mechanoids/archotech thought we could be best saved via containment. It's possible they are even intended to serve as a sort of seed bank for the archotech once humanity has all been "saved" from itself. Attempting to train us to be less violent towards the unknown.
Just cause current humans use persona cores doesn’t mean they had them when they started. They probably locked a few prisoners in a control room forced them to keep the ship on course until they arrived or died of old age. Just cause cars use gasoline now doesn’t mean they did so in 1880s
I don't think that humanity peaked it's progress in 2100. In the game we only get a glimpse at glitterworld tech. And the ship we can build always looked quite bare-bones to me. I think that max tech we get in the game is peak for Rimworlds only. The best you can figure out with a few not-so-bad scientists and build with scrap you can get here and there. Earth in game must not only be Coreworld but a Glitterwolrd also at that time. And I'd really like to believe that humanity closer to the Core is much more technologically advanced than it is on the Rim.
Rimworld years are only 60 days unlike Earth years of 365.25 days, and other worlds likely have their own year lengths, so it's possible each mention of years are based on a non-Earth year.
Imagine if the scenario characters meet up in lore Crashlanded: "We manage to escape and build small community" Lost Tribe: "What in the gods world have you brought in this beauty planet" Naked Brutality: "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH I SACRIFICED?" The Rich Explorer: "What in the sigma yeeyee-aah NPC skibidi toilet doing in my swamp" The Mechanitor: "The moment i knew the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me" The Sanguophage: "ゴゴゴI Reject Humanityゴゴゴ" The Anomaly: "She's the key! Idk if they are mentioned outside of descriptive text for certain tomes, but I'd love to know more about the people who supposedly sealed Horax away in the void. I've already done a playthrough of a tribe turned into Horax followers by their accidental discovery of the monolith, but I'd like to potentially do another of an order of people who work to stave off Horax's influence, possibly as descendants or successors to the initial people who sealed him. Either way, if there is anything substantial about them, I think it'd make for an interesting topic. Might also explain why Horax is described as having "inhuman rage" in some passages, as he's possibly mad at humanity, or at least some faction of humanity, for locking him away in the first place.
Every pawn has age, biological (if applicable) and chronological. That can reveal the latest year for mechanoids to appear, tribals never go to cryptosleep and likely FTL being rather slow.
I think if FTL had a fixed speed. It could mean that the rim starts at the tech level humanity was at when they started exploring deeper into space. It's the rim, the edge of where humanity has expanded thus far. Hence, it creates a time dilation effect where, from the perspective of the rim, humanity never advanced beyond a set point.
And it's rather slow as cryptosleep is so prevalent and chronological age of pawns can be a few thousand years. We can also look for chronoage brackets in different factions, as I remember for tribes it's always equal to biological for example. That also reveals oldest functioning mechanoids cementing the latest time for their invention.
Archotechs are assumed to have human origins but that's not necessarily true. Especially since an explorer attempted to dominate one, that implies he found it and Archotechs were already out in the universe.
i LOVE that your entire reason for "archotechs don't form after this point" is "this guy was transformed by a SINGULAR ARCHOTECH in this time frame". dude. just because he was transformed by a certain archotech does NOT mean that no new archotechs have formed since. that is SUCH bad faith arguing.
I did not say that new Archotechs did not form. I said that's the latest at which Archotechs could have formed. It meant that, Archotechs began appearing at some point, and there was a point where the FIRST archotech appeared, and it couldn't be after the date at which Sanguophages appeared, as they are archotech creations.

"First leaving their planet" could be as simple as colonising Mars at that date. It does not require JT drives and AI.

Colonists still age as if they were normal years, though, which does put a wrinkle in this idea.
