To Make Peanut Chikki
Peanuts - 2 Cups
Jaggery - 2 Cups (Buy: amzn.to/3YtP54w)
Water - 1/2 Cup
Cardamom Powder - 1 Tsp
Ghee - 4 Tsp (Buy: amzn.to/2RBvKxw)
Method:
1. Roast the peanuts for 5 mins and keep aside. Make sure to remove the skin if you are using the ones with skin.
2. Take water in a saucepan. Add jaggery. Cook until the jaggery is fully melted.
3. Strain the melted jaggery to a wide pan and cook.
4. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
5. Once jaggery is of the desired consistency, add ghee and mix.
6. Then add the roasted peanuts and mix well.
7. Grease a tin with ghee and keep.
8. Transfer the peanut jaggery mixture to the greased tin and even it all out.
9. After the mixture cools down, remove it from the tin and cut it into bite sized pieces.
10. That's all, yummy peanut chikki is ready to be served, it can be stored for about a week in an air tight container.
Peanut chikki is an Indian traditional sweet snack that can be made easily and enjoyed for a healthy snacking. The main ingredients in this recipe are peanuts and jaggery. The key to a nice peanut chikki is in getting the correct jaggery syrup consistency. Once you get it right, the whole snack will turn out perfectly. I have shown all the ingredients with measurements in this video, please follow the same for a nice outcome. I tried many many times. Sometimes it comes perfect and sometimes it doesn't form and is left powdery even after hard ball consistency. How to solve this? What wrong am I doing that it's not forming.
Mine went for a toss the moment I put ghee. The jaggery consistency was perfect, came like a hard ball. But the ghee spoilt it. Why?
It's not about ghee, you overcooked the syrup I guess. But no problem, don't worry because the chikki will be slightly hard like the ones we find outside in the stores. That's great too. ❤😇
