RP22 Overview:
CEDIA, the association for smart home professionals, has finalized a new recommended practice for immersive audio system design in collaboration with the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). CEDIA/CTA - RP22 Immersive Audio Design Recommended Practice is the first recommended practice to define an objective set of performance criteria for home audio systems.RP22 Immersive Audio Design Excellence
Experts representing film studios, audio manufacturers, immersive audio standards and residential technology integrators collaborated for over three years to produce this set of guidelines. By combining input from content creators, device makers and system designers, RP22 presents a consensus that honors artistic vision while acknowledging physical and budgetary constraints. The new Recommended Practice has already been endorsed by manufacturers including Officina Acustica, PerListen Audio, Snap One, StormAudio, Triad Speakers and Trinnov Audio.

Peter Aylett is a Globally respected residential technology leader with over 30 years of experience in the field. Having worked for 15 years at some of the UK's most respected technology integrators, Peter was, until 2011, Director of Professional Development for CEDIA - The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association, where he was a global authority on industry standards, education, certification, and technology trends.
Peter continues his leadership role within the industry by being in demand as a speaker and lecturer in residential technology. Over the past few years, he has presented white papers, facilitated training courses, and delivered inspirational seminars across Europe, China, India, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, The USA, and The Middle East.
Peter is a CEDIA Fellow, currently serves as chair of the CEDIA/CTA R10 Standards Committee, is chair of the R10 WG1 (audio) Workgroup, has served a term on CEDIA’s Board of Directors, and was in 2018 Chair of CEDIA’s Technology Council. Peter is CEDIA CIT, ESC-D and ESC-N, ISF and HAA certified and is a member of the AES and IET.
Based in The U.K., Peter is now a Partner at Officina Acustica, following his true passion for building the world's finest acoustic interiors that blend Italian interior design, with the best possible acoustic engineering.
