So fascinating to see my own city through the eyes of an outsider who actually spent more than just a few days here, but who had the time to take in some of the attractions and highly valued culture in our city. It is always amazing to see what outsiders notice in our town, and your intriguing mini-walkthrough of our city is highly inspirational even to me and it makes me appreciate the environment in which I move around so often even more. To see something you see every day through the eyes of someone visiting gives you a whole new perspective on top of your own perception of Aarhus. Thank you so much for this beautiful and flattering portrait of our proud tiny "mini-big city".
Well, in terms of cityscape, and culture, Denmark has got Copenhagen (a large, major European city), and Århus (a midsize city). Do never take for granted living in Denmark!!
This video gives me heartbreaking nostalgia. I was born and raised in Aarhus but I have lived abroad since I was 18 (29 now). I've only managed to be back in my beautiful hometown once in the last decade. Thanks for doing this. It has encouraged me to book a flight home as soon as travel restrictions are lifted.
When you visit Århus, don't miss Den Gamle By. This recreates town life from ages past, with old town houses from all over Denmark. There is a medieval section, and several more modern sections, the latest from 1974. They are building a 2014 section. Also, the Århus cathedral is not only Denmarks largest church, it has many medieval murals.
I think you nailed it. For the older crowd, the 1970s part of the Old Town (Den Gamle By) is not to be missed. Joining the March to an AGF soccer game is another treat.
Hello. Laura. very nice vedio. I lived in Copenhagen 2 years and every visit Copenhagen from USA. kindly can you write the background music start on 02:00 in vedio. so thanks.
This is a very charming city, I hope I can visit again sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much!
another great spot in Aarhus is mindeparken (memorialpark, it got its name because of the beautiful monument in the center of the park honouring the lives of the soldiers lost in ww1) and the queen's vacation home just behind the park. mindeparken is a very big park where you can see the water in the distance, see the pink cherry trees blossom in spring, or just watch people have a great time. it's also possible to walk through the queens garden when she isn't there. if she is, then you have the opportunity to see the guards with the big fur hats outside the gate:) hope you get to visit Aarhus, my beautiful hometown, again in the future:) you're more than welcome
What a lovely film. Great to see Aarhus getting attention. But how did you spend 6 months there without learning how to pronounce Aarhus? (ie it's Orhus).
Beautiful I'm soon to move there too Denmark I am moving to Copenhagen in 2021 one I will be starting my new year there wow very lovely video can you give me some idea tips what they will be to do there are
Liked the video! Pretty informative. About Aarhus being underrated: mass tourism can be a blessing but it can also be a curse: look at Madrid, Rome, or Paris overwhelmed by tourists everywhere demanding services and indirectly driving prices up! So I believe Aarhus is more enjoyable the way it is with not so many crowds! Be careful with what you wish! So count your blessings!
@@onlyoneamong300 ah, but Århus is just a midsize city, little known outside of Denmark. I think it would be more appropriate/fair to compare Århus to cities like Den Haag, or Utrecht (in Netherlands, also midsize cities).
I was named after this city. And because of this video, after almost 3 decades of existence, I learned the correct pronunciation of my name. I feel different. I don’t know if I’ll use it. 🤦♂️😂

Thanks a lot for the bike advice😊 I’m still deciding between aarhus or melbourne, they’re so different I know! haha but idk, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me so I’m trying to collect as much info as possible to make the best decision 🥺
I might move there for school next year too! Don't be nervous! I've lived abroad for a year at a time three times and it's always been the most amazing experiences. Especially if you're going for school. There are plenty of international students in Aarhus in the same situation as you. You will make lots of friends :)
@@LauratheExplorer8 It still is build for cars and parking.
