Here is a review on the Equip Mosquito Hammock I purchased from Walmart.com. It is triple stitched and can hold 300lbs. Get it at: www.walmart.com/ip/Mosquito-H...
Went a little crazy this year. Bought a yak and a scooter so I could spend more time outdoors. Decided to pick one of these up and start going on excursions. Wether it be a trip down the river and camp overnight. Or just go on a long cruise on the bike and sleep wherever the road takes me. I figured packing this and a tarp and a sleeping bag/blanket would be a lot lighter than a one person tent with poles and smaller to pack. I got the one that does not have the bug net.. I bought a net separate.
Just wanted to thank you for this video. It was because of this video that I purchased one of these. I have done some extensive mods to mine as well as a friends. I have a few videos up on those mods. You might want to have a look as they make this hammock something very comfortable.
Got mine in 2016, still holding up good, mine had one small bad sew job along seam, about 2" of net wasn't sewn to body, minor problem, fixed with needle n thread in a few minutes, im happy with it..👍..
When I first started hanging, camping hammocks were few and expensive. So I started making my own. Now I can't make them as inexpensively as I can buy them. Put one of my $50 home made under quilt, and a $10 tarp for a fly, on it, and you still come in under a C note. Good video. Thanks.
I've found with hammocks that have attached netting, that laying in it upside down works for when you don't need the bugnet. The ridgeline poles are nice....keeps the net off your face.
This was a almost really awesome idea I had one and when I tied off the top of the net and got in ,ripped all of em lol that was seasons ago tho be very careful with the wat you have bound your cordage to the tree a slip noose works best for me but with round suspension cords there prone to Walk down the tree with movement great vid tho bud keep it up
is this like the Grand Trunk that you simply flip it over, net side down and you can use it w/o the netting? leave the poles out of it of course? I like the idea of the spreaders to keep the net off you, if you're gonna use it that way. nice vid.
Your welcome. This hammock is good for its cost. I made the mistake of buying a TexSport hammock before this. It looked good in pictures, but it was horrible.
If you want to use the hammock without the net you flip it over. It will pull tight beneath you but is larger than the hammock so it does not tear. Just be sure that there are no briars sticking up that will brush it.
Could of observations: Using ropes for hanging the hammock could potentially damage trees and many areas require straps. Also when you were in the hammock I didn’t see the diagonal lay. How does it feel on the diagonal? One question could you install a ridge line or does the netting prevent access to the suspension?
I was just using the ropes that came with it, I got rid of it when I moved though. It doesn't have a spot for a ridgeline but I have seen a video on someone putting some grommets on the ends where they could get one through.
Did you use this when 'skeeters out and about? Ask b/c did they bite thru the bottom of the hammock? Use a pad inside and did it stay put? What kind of sleep you get, looks confined?
I didn't get bit by any mosquitoes, and yeah I used a pad. A pad does make it a little harder to get in and out of, but it stays where its at. And yeah, it is pretty confining laying in it without a pad, but some people might enjoy it. Sleeping in it is fine, I will use it more as it gets colder.
The included hanging kit sacrifices range for ease of use but if necessary I think I could retie it to get a couple extra feet. I ordered a Blue Stone tarp for it, I'll try to find the furthest range I can hang it when I test that out.
the limitation is finding something to hang it between...thought about the tripod i saw in the video...build one at each end ans stabilize with an anchor wire... might work
Then it wouldn't breathe and would be damp from your sweat. Waterproof hammocks are bad (except the hydrohammock, designed to be used as a hottub) This one is water-resistant though.
I think tents are more comfortable, plus I can change clothes in my tent. I'll be using the hammock in a trip I'm going on soon, I will be able to judge it better then.
Besides the bridge hammock like dorianbelen said, if you get a decent-sized gathered end hammock, the goal is to lie in it diagonally. If you practice it, you actually get a flat lay, and it's great. You don't want to sleep in a hammock like a banana.
Just bought 1, forgot to watch some videos 1st, been wanting one for along time, thanks for the review, can't wait.

That's awesome!
Nice! What kind of scooter did you get? I'm thinking of doing the same.
Great review I was just waiting on some Friday 13th action with that old creepy house in the background.
Thanks! That house is pretty creepy, there's plenty of rusty tools in there to chop someone up!

It's a good hammock, your permethrin trick should help keep the bugs away too!

Now they're everywhere! I see people use them for seating up at the lake.
Good review we have 3 of these hammocks work great . If it's hot you can tie up the netting with a simple knot for a little breeze.
They're good hammocks, I'll be using it more in the fall.

The poles give you more space. Unfortunately I left that thing outside to long and it got messed up.
good review man thanks!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

Yup, you can flip it over, thanks for the tip!
Nice hammock for the price, thanks for the video....

Thanks, it works well upside down!
Travel a lot for work & just got mine for when I'm not trying to spend$100 a night on a hotel room.
Hotels prices are crazy!
I just purchased the exact hammock. Curious to what its water repellent abilities are?
Curious what you thought of the water resistant 210T polyester material this is made from. Does it breathe alright? Is it comfortable?
I can't comment on its breathe ability but it definitely feels comfortable, its nice and cool.
Why take the net off?

What are you using for the support bar that holds up the mosquitoes net?thanks
It comes with little fiberglass poles and a black line to pull up the net.

I use bug spray on the bottom of the hammock. It has not hurt it yet and I have used it for 2 years now.
@@johnwalker4270 i spray mine with pirmithian, and seal it in a plastic bag when not in use, skeeters n deer fly's avoid it..
This is almost the same as the Claytor Mosquito hammock. Shorter maybe less durable?
It looks the same, but the Claytor has a double bottom that is open so you can put stuff in there.
i think finding a range of distances that work between trees is important...everything else looks operational..

I just bought this. Your review said 300lb weight limit. Mine says 400lbs
Maybe they increased it, the website still says 300 though.
Is the mosquito net removable, or does it at least have straps to hold it up when it’s not needed?
No, you can flip it over if you dont want to use it though.
Is it considered a single or double hammock. I'm a side sleeper and have heard that doubles work better for side sleeping.
A single hammock. It does have a lot of room though.
Thanks.
Do you know the dimensions on this hammock?
118.1"x59"
The zipper is the weak point, be careful.
What about bugs biting through the hammock material?
I haven't noticed any bugs biting through the side, and I use a sleeping pad that they definitely can't bite through.

is there a way to waterproof a hammock
You could probably use seam sealer but it would keep water in as well. A good tarp will prevent it from getting wet.
Then it wouldn't breathe and would be damp from your sweat. Waterproof hammocks are bad (except the hydrohammock, designed to be used as a hottub) This one is water-resistant though.
Lol brah is it comfortable?
Yeah I liked that thing. I need to get another one.
@@kayakexcursions5570 what happened to this one? I think it would be a pain in the butt if the whole thing came off.
I wish hammocks didn't kill my back so bad
I think tents are more comfortable, plus I can change clothes in my tent. I'll be using the hammock in a trip I'm going on soon, I will be able to judge it better then.
Rick Try the bridge hammock. Is amazing flat
