    Excellent price............ I paid over twice that much for one from SRO. Mine is white instead of black and the zipper is horizontal instead of vertical. Mine worked well and I dont regret the purchase but given the choice I would have saved a couple of $$ and purchased that one.

  • @gregdonovan5738

    Seems like a decent bug net. Good demo of bug net setup. Anyone have trouble with the zipper? That’s the usual fail point.
    I use a hammock continuous ridgeline for a perfect 30 degree hang. Yours it strung WAY TOO TIGHT, almost flat! No way to find that diagonal lay “sweet spot” for a good night’s sleep until you work out that 30 degree hang.
    Cheers!

    This is off-subject, but I just got a British Army bivy bag which will take care of rain and I think this could give me a bug defense by stringing this over the bivy bag making a bug-bivy tent. Then I will be protected against rain and bugs. This system does not, as you say, "rock" but it may do a good job in a unexpected one night or survival situation.

    Can you used the bug net ridge line for your tarp? If so I guess you would hang your tarp first with a ridge line under the tarp. Have you found a way to put a small amount of tension on the bug net so it does not slide around once you have it set? This may be better than an built-in bug net. What do you think?

    • @SurvivalOnPurpose
      @SurvivalOnPurpose  6 років тому

      I guess you could do it either way. I see no need to tension the bug net. A little movement doesn't bother me. And I think it is much more versatile than a built in net.

    • @toddgibson9861
      @toddgibson9861 6 років тому

      speaking from my experience, if you use the same ridge-line, your tarp gets pulled alot against your tie-offs....at least it does with my eno bug-net. So I set up two ridge-lines to keep the up & down pressures off the tarp fly..

    Thank you, Brian! I have two hammocks , one with a bug net and the Yukon double you displayed. I changed the hang system on the Yukon...didn't like those carabiners either. I am presently using The Friendly Swede bug net with the Yukon but this PYS system is cool although it looks twice the size of the Swede and weighs more as well. I'll order it since it helps your channel and I get it at a discount...love supporting the Scouts. I used to teach first aid classes for the Scouts in Dhahran, S.A.

    That's a nice discount, Brian. Thank you! You may already know this but spraying your gear and clothes with Permethrin really helps to diminish the skeeter population. I found that wasps do not like Permethrin either on my last bushcraft overnighter. Two of them were scoping out my camp but when they approached my tarp and hammock they immediately vacated the area. Do not spray DEET onto your skin, please!

    Try making a second pass through the loop on your trucker's hitch before you pull it tight. It'll bind and hold better while you finish securing it. It'll also be just as easy to untie.

    • @waynerogersbushcraft3153
      @waynerogersbushcraft3153 6 років тому

      I have trouble sleeping in a hammock as well but I figured out it was because I was actually laying wrong in the hammock. Change the way you lay and switch to a more angular lay so you can lay flatter and it will be much more comfortable. You can even side sleep if you lay in a hammock at a 45 degree angle in relative comfort. Don't know if you've ever tried it that way but it is worth a try if you haven't.

      I absolutely cherish my Hennessey, but I almost always carry a regular hammock too when "car camping" for just chillin'. Plus my Hennessey costs about 4 times what a decent hammock and this net do. I think it is money well spent but it is still more money.
