Smiley Pancakes - Kirsty's art and depression

For a while now I wanted to challenge myself to create short videos of people’s live experiences. I wanted to see how I could capture people’s feelings and stories and turn them into a learning experience for individuals. I was first confronted with mental health stigmatisations when I felt a gap between myself and victims of mental illness. Getting involved with Mental Health Ireland through their social event- Smiley Pancakes helped me to understand how victims overcame their mental illness and learn more about mental health along the way. Over the last couple months, I’ve captured short stories of individuals raising awareness on Mental Health.
The is the first video featuring Kirsty Latoya. She is a self taught young artist based in London who uses her experiences with depression to create her art.
