  • Part 1: • London's Docklands Lig...
This is the second part of the film showing the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) in London. It also briefly features the London Underground Jubilee line at the end.
The film shows the heavily-used branch from Poplar to Canning Town. Here, the DLR runs three-carriage trains on an elevated concrete structure in the midst of new residential and commercial developments.
We first take a look at Blackwall station, which is the next eastbound station after Poplar. The film then shows East India station, before we move to Canning Town station, which is a major interchange station with four DLR platforms and two London Underground platforms. As this was filmed right during rush hour, the station is rather busy. We first watch some DLR trains before the film concludes with a few shots of the Jubilee line.
    Enjoy!
    Recorded: October 20, 2015.

Fun fact: East India station sits right on the Prime Meridian. If you go the easternmost end of either platform you can find the point where you'd be standing in both hemispheres simultaneously.
Also, the East India station wobbles quite obviously as the train enters it from the Blackwall side. It's a combination of it being raised above the ground and the fact that the train enters while making a turn.

Look AT 8:36 .Seriously, there is no need to catch that train. Like there is going to be another one due in 3 minutes.

The fact that was right after an announcement of "There is frequent train service. No need to run or rush" makes it funnier.

@@fidkrdk7283 No, the train at 8:36 was going to Wembley Park. The extreme north end of the Jubilee Line is Stanmore. They had no reason to rush to catch it.

Did they ever imagine, when the DLR was first built, that they would see this level of crowding?

Nelson Ricardo probably not, the docklands back in the 80s was quite a quiet wasteland area, it only had Canary Wharf tower and a few houses

No, the DLR first opened in the 1980s and there was hardly anyone living in the Docklands at that time nor were there any financial centers. Once those started arriving, combined with the Jubilee Line Extension in 1999, the crowds inevitably picked up.
