Thank you for the advice! I'm struggling to find someone trustworthy to build me a website and while I wasn't 100% sure, I now know they were trying to lock me out of my own website and asked me 2k minimum to build it. No thanks!
I just wish it wasn't so difficult. I don't even need them to build the whole website, I just want them to make a feature that doesn't exist on any of the website builders out there...

The challenge is trying to find a website name that has not been bought by a company that does nothing but register names for a living...very frustrating!

Ilike to add "pro" or "expert" to the end of the domains I am searching for. Getting the keyword phrase in the domain can help with relevance and ranking. Good luck.

You are sooooooooooo spot on, beware of proprietary web "systems", custom PHP sites, webmasters holding passwords, lack of emotional intelligence, I've rescued numerous clients with these issues! Wordpress is a good choice, because it's open source and anybody can work on it, it's like the Ford/GM of web platforms! LastPass is also good choice, you can change passwords instantly, but I also keep the old passwords when I do a change to new ones, just in case so can revert.
