Amazing Tabla Solo by Legendry Tabla Maestro Pandit Lachhu Maharaj (Son and Disciple of Pandit Vasudev Ji Maharaj) from Banaras Gharana, Ahmedabad Conference.

I think it was composed 200 years ago by Pt. Ram Sahai ji, the founder of Banaras Gharana. He had four disciples and taught one of the Uthan to each four. Lacchu Maharaj ji the only one who ever performed all four on a stage, People usually dedicate themselves to mastering only one of their own family's Uthan.
Incredible speed, dexterity and mastering, really a Legend. Truly one of the best tabla player ever. His way of playing was so different, as was his way of living and of thinking... Missing him so dearly ♥️ I feel so blessed having met him, having lived with him and loved him for so many years 🙏
I knew Lacchu bhaiya personally, he was a Pakka Banarasi and lived life his way, was a master in his art had with wealth of knowledge
My chachaji..met him only a few times..but carry a certain pride in my heart for these genes
Guruji's work of his early days are not available in public domain in any form. Many well wishers wanted to preserve his unique and unparalleled exploitations in the art of Tabla playing. He did not allow recording nor recorded his work himself. We could not understand why he did so. Media world had started opening up in form of tape recorders and lately becoming digital in 90's.
Beyond doubts he was one unique player of Banaras Baaj and such incarnations and exponents of Tabla were one and only one of their style which passed away with them.
Some of his late inning works which were mostly or stealthily recorded without his knowledge and were posted on UA-cam. Many of them are not professional recordings but this piece is relatively much clearer.
I personally liked his another presentation in Haridwar concert which is also available on youtube.
He was a patented solo tabla player of Sankat Mochan, Banaras- the famous concert. He has played some rare Tabla in early 80's but those records are copied from hand-made tape recorders. Yet the artistry of the genius is obvious to Tabla lovers and we fondly listen to that.
Thanks to all those who bring these work of rare formats and artistry to the pleasure of art
connoisseurs in any form. Perhaps they would do so more. He was a rare style (Baaj/gharana) of Tabla playing in himself.

What a pleasure to listen to the great maestro. Does anyone know the maestros who composed the four uthans PanditJi plays, I have heard the third one played by Pt Sharda Sahai and I know he used to teach it too, but I don't know who composed it or the other three.
