I was born in Worksop in 1965 in Aldred Street, wherever that was, then moving to Sherwood Road, then to Canal Terrace from 1967 to 1979, and i have lived here all my life so far. So many changes long before the Worksop that I remember. What is now the tyre shop, that can be seen being constructed on the corner of Clarence Street in the 1938 photo of Carlton Road at 1:06, was a Honda motorcycle dealer when I first became aware of it in the early 1970's. It was called Kings Of Oxford, and I think at the time the manager was a Mr Black. It may have been a motorcycle dealer through the 1960's and maybe even earlier. I can remember from the mid to late 1970's spending many a time in Kings Of Oxford drooling over the Honda range of motorcycles. They also sold Reliant cars, and I think Lada as well, but they declined as a motorcycle dealer throughout the 1980's.
