Thank you so much for being so concise and clear on explaining all these settings ! You made c log 3 less intimidating and I also discovered some cool features I did not know the camera had like the color coding and the aperture fractions 😮 thank you!!!!!!
You would either have to raise the shutter speed and accept the lost motion blur. Or you would close the aperture and accept the deeper depth of field. I typically don’t like those compromises so I’ll use an ND filter.
I just tried shooting outside for the first time. Light from the sun kept changing due to cloud cover, which ruined my exposure. If shutter speed is constant at 1/50, what do you recommend changing, aperture or iso, to adjust exposure to compensate for the sun dipping in and out while trying to film outside?
Ideally I would use an ND filter but if thats not available I like to change the aperture to adjust for the brightness. I want to keep the ISO at its base of 800 at all times.
I got these cheap ones from K&F, a better brand might be NISI or Polar Pro. But be sure it's a variable neutral density filter (VND for short) so that you can adjust the intensity depending on your lighting conditions@@rodporterfield
Hey buddy, it was an amazing video as I just bought my new gear. However, can you also explain how to use LUTs afterwards? And where can I get the LUTs? Thank you
Sure. Here’s a video of how I use LUTs to color grade. They are modified versions of the official canon lut that cost $19. ua-cam.com/video/u5-H90gDPIs/v-deo.htmlsi=Us-StDnrOYJKTxi3 But if you want the canon official luts that are free then you need to go to the product page of the R6 and go to Drivers/Support. Then put in your computer info and select the canon luts option. It will download a folder with the luts. Cheers
Thanks for the straightforward video. I understand what the ND filter does, but why was that the first option instead of lowering the ISO from 800 to something in the 100-400 range?
When shooting in Clog-3, you get the most dynamic range at 800 iso+. Dropping the iso below 800 removes a few stops of dynamic range in the shadows. You can visibly see this if you have histograms enabled and drop the iso below 800 (the graph limits change)

Ahh this is an easy fix. In the orange menu there should be an option for “shutter with no lens” and enable that. With cine lenses, since they are manual lenses without digital communication, the R6 mark II doesnt recognize a lens on the camera. So it won’t shoot photos or video. Just change that setting.
