do you or someone else have a good video for how to get video shot post processed quickly and viewable for the novice dad with kids? Thanks
If quick view-ability and processing is a priority I would avoid shooting in a LOG format and instead shoot in a standard profile so that the color and contrast is baked into the image.
Easiest Settings for Shooting Video | Canon R6 Mark II
Thank you so much for being so concise and clear on explaining all these settings ! You made c log 3 less intimidating and I also discovered some cool features I did not know the camera had like the color coding and the aperture fractions 😮 thank you!!!!!!
This video is a Godsend. You made explaining of zebra, false color and histogram so much easier AND shorter as well. Thank you so much for taking the time out for this, you have no idea how helpful this was.
I’m so glad I could be useful man, that’s the mission here. Cheers!
great video, Bruno! straight to the point and really easy to follow through.
Thanks for the kind words. I try my best
Excellent, Bruno. Thanks for the clear, concise explanations.
You’re welcome Kathy, glad I could help
Best explanation of zebras, false color, and histogram for getting correct exposure that I've seen (and I've watched a lot of these types of vids the past few weeks). Thanks!
You’re welcome. Im so glad I could help man, appreciate the kind words!
Happy shooting.
You have a really great channel. So many valuable tutorial videos.

First video that is just clear and to the point on this topic. Learned a lot in just below 8 minutes, thanks!
Glad I could help
Agreed. Been struggling to expose. But my false color is always greyed out
@@MrBlackPasta if you turn off the 'viewassist' under the Canon Log settings in tab 4 you will be able to use it.
@@Nickmt123 I did that. Still grey. Tried different lens too
Thats my qualm with the false color, there are too many grey variants in between the main colors.
Great video brother!!
Thank you :)
Thank you !!!!

Cool Video! Thank you ◡̈
How do I find the Videos for more Info, like for whitebalance or noice reduction..?
I have a few videos on each on my channel. Just search “noise reduction” on my videos
Thanks for the straightforward video. I understand what the ND filter does, but why was that the first option instead of lowering the ISO from 800 to something in the 100-400 range?
When shooting in Clog-3, you get the most dynamic range at 800 iso+.
Dropping the iso below 800 removes a few stops of dynamic range in the shadows. You can visibly see this if you have histograms enabled and drop the iso below 800 (the graph limits change)
@@BrunoPozo4Real Awesome, thanks for the reply! Much appreciated.
thanks
You’re very welcome :)
Great video, thanks! I was trying to follow your steps but on page 3 I only got the Auto slow shutter entry. AV 1/8-stop incr. is missing completely on my R6 MK2 with latest firmware 1.3.0 - do you know why that could be?
Hmmm, it is either cause 1. You were in the photo mode of the camera. Or maybe 2. You were not in Manual mode.
Both of those will create different menus. Hopefully it’s just that!
@@BrunoPozo4Real thanks for your reply! I double checked and followed your video to the letter! The option is not there when the camera is set to video and in manual mode. Very strange!
Awesome video! Very detailed, liked and subscribed here!
I am totally new to video, i got some clips on clog3 and downloaded DaVinci Res. But don't know what I'm doing wrong, it will not recognize my video, hello! Can you make a video explaining how to color grade sometime in the near future. Thank you so much! Appreciate your work!
I believe the free version of Davinci cannot read Log videos. You need to pay for the full version.
@BrunoPozo4Real aah ya!, okay makes sense! Ill look into that, thank you so much for your reply!
You're welcome @@Rolio5451
Hello, can you please tell me how to activate the false color with CLOG3 activated? thank you so much
For false color to work you need to disable “View Assist” in the Clog menu. If that is active false color wont turn on.
Under the Red camera menu, page 3 my R6 Mark II does not show 1/8 increments only the option for "auto shutter slow" which is grayed out with camerea set to move and manual mode. My camera is brand new so why don't I see the 1/8 increment on the menu? Thanks for a lot of good info.
That is strange. I have no idea why the 1/8 isn’t showing up for you, you can try updating the firmware though. It might help!
And it’s okay if “auto shutter slow” is greyed out, that’s only available for some of the other “auto” modes like Av, Tv, B, etc..
If you leave ISO at auto, do you loose much quality if it stays below 3200? Easier when panning abd doesn't need an ND filter. Thanks for your great videos!
You don’t lose any quaility by being below iso 3200.
The only time quality drops in clog3 is below 800 because you lose dynamic range.
@@BrunoPozo4Real OK thanks for that info. What is the highest you'd let the ISO go to?
@@teethtrainsandcameras2668 Honestly the new Canon mirrorless cameras handle noise in higher ISOs really well, especially if you turn on High ISO Noise Reduction to the max.
But I like to stay under 6400 ISO if possible. Hope this helps
@@BrunoPozo4Real great help, thanks

I just tried shooting outside for the first time. Light from the sun kept changing due to cloud cover, which ruined my exposure. If shutter speed is constant at 1/50, what do you recommend changing, aperture or iso, to adjust exposure to compensate for the sun dipping in and out while trying to film outside?
Ideally I would use an ND filter but if thats not available I like to change the aperture to adjust for the brightness.
I want to keep the ISO at its base of 800 at all times.
@@BrunoPozo4Real any ND filter in particular?
I got these cheap ones from K&F, a better brand might be NISI or Polar Pro. But be sure it's a variable neutral density filter (VND for short) so that you can adjust the intensity depending on your lighting conditions@@rodporterfield
Thanks a bunch!!!
@@rodporterfield You’re very welcome :)
Somebody help me here....if I have my shutter, apeture and iso set where I like them and I want to use Zebras to set exposure....I'm confused. I'm not aware of a way to adjust exposure without changing on of those 3( shutter-apeture-iso). Outdoors I could use the ND filter....? With video the shutter speed is pretty much predetermined and we want to keep iso around 800, in C-log. So...changing apeture is it, it seems.
I dunno, what am I missing?
You got it. Use a VND to control exposure or if that is out of the question, I will use Aperture and accept the change in depth of focus.
Hope to this helps.
Should you turn both IBIS and LS on and use them together?
If using an RF lens with image stabilization, you can only have both IBIS and LS on or off. But if you are adapting a lens you can choose to enable or disable either IBIS and LS. I recommend enabling both for the smoothest result.
@@BrunoPozo4Real Thanks for the quick response!
I have just bought a cine-lens, IRIX 21mm to my Canon EOS R6 Mark II. However, my camera won´t take any picture or even make a video. I guess there should be some kind of settings, but what settings should i do to be able to use my cine-lens? With an ordinary Canon lens there is not any problem at all to take pictures or make a video. Does anyone have a tip what i should do, maybe what kind of settings?
Ahh this is an easy fix.
In the orange menu there should be an option for “shutter with no lens” and enable that.
With cine lenses, since they are manual lenses without digital communication, the R6 mark II doesnt recognize a lens on the camera. So it won’t shoot photos or video.
Just change that setting. Google it if you cant find it.
Cheers
I finally found in the orange part of the menu. it´s a real djungle if you need to search for something, but it´s all about experience of course. Many thanks for the help! Cheers!@@BrunoPozo4Real
Awesome, glad I could help!@@perkrafft3904
@@BrunoPozo4Real Yes, you made my day. Thanks! 👍😃
What ND filter would you recommend for shooting outdoors?
The best in the market are the Nisi ND filters. They have the least color cast and are extremely high quality. But I just use a cheap K&F Concept one and adjust the color in post
@@BrunoPozo4Real Thank you. It seems I didn't phrase my question correctly. What I meant to ask was how many ND filter stops do you recommend for shooting outdoors for different type of daylight (from sunrise to sunset)?
@@trailblazer_nomad ND 2 to 9 stops will work for most situations. Unless you are using a 1.2 lens, then you may need more ND than that. Cheers
My settings on the camera (1st icon) #3 are grayed out under Auto Slow Shutter
Are you in manual video mode? Im not sure why its greyed out tbh
They say there's an issue with Cinema Gamut on the Ninja V. Any knowledge of that?
Ive heard but never used a ninja v for external recording. Im told it adds a yellow shift for some reason. Hope it gets fixed
Use color space BT2020 instead.
how do i get the 23.98fps feature on my camera??
The camera has to be in NTSC which is what the US and Japan use. I believe most of the world uses PAL which uses 25fps instead.
To find this it’s in the wrench menu somewhere. I would google it
I thought you adjusted the zebras until they are NOT visible??
For the 95% zebra I adjust the exposure until they show and then slightly reduce exposure until they go away.
Thats when I Expose to the right (ETTR) tho.
What will happen if I have Clog off? Will i get good color? Pros and cons please.
Clog off is perfectly fine. The difference is - smaller file size, less dynamic range, and less color spectrum.
@@BrunoPozo4Real what does file size do in regards to video quality and being able to watch the footage on tv, laptop, phone?
@@royaltykidstv You can't really see the difference in video quality on a tv, laptop or phone, by the smaller file size.
@@BrunoPozo4Real so its just for color grading which clog on helps with?
@@royaltykidstv Better Color and Better Dynamic Range yes.
Is it normal that me camera records the videos on .MP4?
Yeah thats how mine comes out.
at 4:26 how are you changing exposure? none of the value is being changed!!
That’s with a variable ND filter. Im adjusting it’s intensity, which is why i am reaching towards the lens.
at 0:56 sec, as we can see AV 1/8-stop incr. enable, i can't see on my camera, how can I activate that setting/??
It is a relatively newer feature so it may not be on your camera. I would google it to be sure though.
i am using R6 mark ii, recently bought@@BrunoPozo4Real
Make sure your top dial is set to "M" for manual. It's greyed out if it's on auto stuff like Tv, Av etc.
@@dingdong5601 oh yes, i forgot to mention that. Thanks for sharing
@@BrunoPozo4Real To be fair, you DID say it in this video haha
My settings go up to 50frames not 60, why would that be
The camera is on PAL settings not NTSC. You can switch in the menu if you like but most of the world is on PAL.
@@BrunoPozo4Real Of course. Thank you
What was this video shot for?
I don’t understand the question?
@@BrunoPozo4Real which camera was used to shoot this video?
@@turists_spbthe Canon R6 Mark II with 15-35 f2.8
Why 800 iso?
That is the base ISO for Clog-3. If you go below 800 you begin to lose dynamic range.
