    Hi there! Thanks for this review... Love the record at the end. 😊 And I just ordered my white sound burger, hope it will arrive this week. So I can play my collection. It was the bluetooth function for me, but then your enthusiastic review had me looking forward to it now for sure! Thanks again. Bye 👋🏻

    The Sound Burger seems like an ideal second turntable; have one "real" table set up in your den or living room for deeper active listening, then this as a second table which lets you easily play records out of that dedicated space to get some more utility out of your records.
    This thing is never going to be truly portable in the "take it on your morning jog" sort of way, we all know that true portability is impossible vinyl records and digital is the only real answer here, but it will let you create a temporary rig in the kitchen while you're cooking, or on your home office desk, or maybe out on the patio if you're brave... and with the right speakers that setup won't sound too bad. If you already have records, any excuse to engage with them is good, which makes this thing a winner.

    For what it is designed to do, it does it well. I have two of them, one for show and one to go. It's wonderfully affordable. It won't replace my Fluance RT85, but it's great to have if you want to listen to a record from the Resale shops. I'd recommend this to anybody.
    If I were to offer tip, buy some extra stylii.

      I'm not going to lie; Me and five friends bought one, one had major issues, and mine doesn't always stay in the groove correctly. So I'll have to do a second, more critical video I'm afraid. It's an adorable machine, but I don't recommend playing your records on it on the daily :).

      @@rollingtroll that's disappointing to hear that they don't track well, I was thinking of getting one of the new ones as I can't get my old one to put out sound at a proper volume (replaced the preamp and headphone amp ICs but no joy, probably needs a full recap) but on the new one I was going to replace the tracking force spring to track lighter and run an ATN91 stylus on it, it's a shame they didn't include anti-skate

Een beetje wat je kunt verwachten van de AT-LP60x, maar iets beter omdat er geen kast meerammelt. Klinkt lekker rustig en ritmisch goed. Bluetooth van 't machien is ook echt opvallend goed voor Bluetooth.

    Nice and honest review! Nice record too. I have one question:
    How long was the delivery time?
    It can be quiet on some speakers since the new Sound Burger does not have volume control, the 1983 version had a volume wheel (learned this from another YT review).
    Take care Stijn.

      About a week. But I can't figure out why it would be quiet on some speakers, ant not on others. It's bluetooth so I am not sure what that's about.
      Not going to lie though; I wouldn't recommend this one. It's a fun little thing but it doesn't track very well (skips inwards, there seems to be zero anti skate) and a friend of mine already had one with a broken platter bearin. There will be a follow up video

    Hello! I am sorry to hear about the anxiety and being burnt out - I know exactly how you feel! However, I am happy you got yourself this cute little turntable to ease your pain. :) Judging by your accent, my assumption is that you live in NW Europe. I was wondering, where did you buy the AT? I am in Eastern Europe and would like to get one too but the only place I can find it is Audio Technica's own website. Thanks in advance and rememeber - always try to reserve some time for yourself! All the best!

    • @rollingtroll
      @rollingtroll  6 місяців тому

      You really get to know yourself. I was doing a lot better, but a busy november saw me have a serious setback. This ain't an easy one to tackle!
      The Soundburger; I ended up returning it. They have NO anti skate, and it's actually a problem with such a high tracking force. My lovely friends got me an OG soundburger, which has the same issue but a much lower tracking force, making it track a lot better (lower force = less inward pull). Also the OG's build quality is way higher. I still love the modern one, but it can't be used as a serious record player. I only found this out later, so I still need to do a vollow-up.
      And yup, I always thought my life revolved around other people (I have many friends and want to make sure they all feel loved) but that's not a long term possibility. All of a sudden I understand people who only answer to messages after weeks ;).

    When the tonearm is parked inside the player, does the rubber arm rest keep the stylus from touching the platter or do you need to place the stylus cover on every time you aren't using the player?

      I would like to add though, there will be a new review. It has severe anti skating issues and after having seen four (and a fifth, which is the original one!) I can tell you they just don't have anti skate, at all. AT's service has been great though, but I recommend not buying it.
      I would like to specify; That does not mean you shouldn't buy AT stuff. AT is amazing. Their cartridges are great, their headphones are great, their slightly more serious record players (even the simple AT-LP60) are great. This one though, just a little sub par. But then, so was the original as it turns out (although it's way better built!)

      Nope, I bought this one as quickly as I could as they were sold out very fast the last two times they were on sale. Would've gone yellow as well if I had the choice but it is awesome (and very eighties) in white.
      I should say; It has some sound level issues with certain bluetooth speakers. It plays amazing on my Yamaha WXC50 and Edifier R1700BT, but it's very quiet (like background music quiet) on my Ikea bluetooth speakers. Keep that in mind.

    I knew about the AT SB turn table around 5 years ago when Matt from UA-cam channel techmoan did a video about one then I found out from hi channel that they released a limited edition last year that I missed out on there still out of stock I did manage to get a yellow one & importing it in from japan which was £166 delivered to UK so not bad considering there £199 audiophile will have something to say about them

      I am an audiophile, and the thing sounds remarkably good for what it is.
      That said, there will be a follow op video, i thas two major issues. One is that with many Bluetooth speakers it doesn't pair or plays really quietly (JBL Go 2 does not pair at all, for instance. Ikea Eneby 20 is super quiet background level). And it has no anti skating, which is an issue with 3.5ish grams of stylus force. At least once or twice every record it will skip a groove inwards. I thought it was mine, but my friends who also got them have the same issues. So yes, that needs addressing.

    Hi, what a pity that the new Sound Burger has problems. I was planning to buy this nice portable in addition to my Onkyo CP-150 and AT-LP140XP, but your remarks in the comments have put me off this idea. Apparently anti-skate is a thing at Audio-Technica. I love my 140XP, but the opposite is the case with regard to the anti-skate with my turntable: at position 3 with a needle pressure of 3 grams, when the needle is lifted, the tone arm automatically moves outwards on the lift-part! An aggressive correction that has also been warned about on the internet so now I choose position 2. But the fact that the 'burger' wants to skip a groove sometimes because of ZERO anti-skate is very unfortunate and simply unacceptable. So thanks for mentioning this problem.

    • @rollingtroll
      @rollingtroll  4 місяці тому

      Yes, don't. That said, the AT-LP120x is actually better for hi-fi than the AT-LP140xp, so you may want to try that out if you can get one cheap!

      @@rollingtroll I like new, but maybe you're right about sound quality of the 'good old days' players. I am to lazy to look around I'm afraid :) As a kid I just had the lucky experience of the 'enddays' of the record era, the turntables were build to last! I also have the AT-LP3 for fully automatic fuction but not right now for use in my rooms, wonderful, but there the wow and flutter is variable and too much. I am very content with the Onkyo and LP140xp soundwise, but the last one is a little harsh in strings and voices. For the rest I love them.

    • @rollingtroll
      @rollingtroll  4 місяці тому

      Oh I'm not saying that there's no good new record players, but heck you can get some good stuff for less second hand.
      I also notice you seem to only be picking record players with a built-in phono preamp, even though there's some amazing affordable preamps out there (The schiit mani is something else at that price class). If you want to have a cheap way to outperform all that you have thus far, get the Mani, pair it with a Pioneer PL-112D (other than the belt these things just always works) and an Audiotechnica AT-VM95E cartridge (potentially there's one in your AT-140x :D). You may be pretty impressed with what you'll find.
      Again, I have nothing against new stuff but you have quite a few record players, and their combined value is higher than that of a high end second hand player, like my Micro Seiki BL51. And that makes me wonder if your path is the path to audiophile excellence haha. If you don't care about that and just like gadgets; All of the power to you, I do too, just not so much with audio.

    Interesting record player was hoping it was linear though. I have a Technics SL M3, which is a beast and my cartridges cost more than this record player. A bit weary about it not having anti-skate. For portable I have an Omni turntable with AT95VME, which has a built-in speaker to listen to records at a thrift store.

    • @rollingtroll
      @rollingtroll  4 місяці тому

      There really is no valid reason to want a linear record player :). Some are good, most aren't great, but they are on average not better than a more 'conventional' option. There's definitely more to go wrong!
      Also yes, you are right to be weary about the lack of anti skate. I ended up sending it back because of that, there will be a follow up video.
      As for the omi; Did you install the AT-VM95E in it? As it comes with an AT-3600L. The L is a super low compliant cartridge so chances are the arm's a little heavy for the "E".

      @rollingtroll I did install a new cartridge on the Omni, the original cartridge was great, but I did wear it out. The Omni is great and I chose it over the Reloop for the design and it has DVS. Does the Reloop have DVS now? Also, the faders are much better since you can program the exact cut-off. In terms of linear turntables, I love the convenience and automatic repeat. I guess everyone has their valid reasons for what's important to them. The OG Soundburger makes absolutely no sense to me.

      @rollingtroll Isn't the needle a part of the cartridge, so it would be similar to someone saying they hurt their foot when they stubbed their toe, or someone wearing out their shoes when the soles are worn? The Omni is a portable DJ turntable for scratching, which I bought to learn how to scratch. My Omni is about 5 years old, so not very old, but learning how to scratch wore out my cartridge. It may have been the needle or the internal components, I don't really know what caused the cartridge to fail. The Omni was the first portable DVS turntable. You should look up DVS if you want to get into scratching, it's a great technology. Is the mechanism for the D3 simpler vs. a linear to maintain while having to still deal with anti-skate? In your opinion does anti-skate matter for reduced wear on a record?

    Speedwise my soundburger was 2% faster in both speeds , coturn uses a photosensor for speed control but at half the price i have no problem of it missing, more about the fact that nearly everyone who tested the speed got them too fast , at least the speed should be correct from factory at the beginning.
    And i dont expect aptx for the price (altough my fullsize teac for the same price has it) but AAC should have been a must .
    Oh and 12 h charging for 12 h play 😢 coturn is 4 hours for 16 h playtime BT activated.
