    The setup you have in place for using the projector, it's amazing, I always see people using transfer paper to get their art on stuff like this, but idk you had that stuff lined up so nicely it felt way more satisfying for some reason lol.

      Thanks! I find it easier than printing and using carbon paper. Plus, then I can save money on those supplies. Purchase an inexpensive projector one time and then all you need is a pencil moving forward. 😊

    As someone who is really studying the editing in others' content to try and improve my own videos, I have to give props to whoever edited this video. It's crazy good! The speed and amount of transitions, the camera motion and movement are insane. Oh and the art is pretty good too! 😂

    • @KatLiepinsArt

      Thank you so much! You are so kind! 😊 I film and edit all of my videos myself. I might have a couple of shots where I asked my mom or dad to hold the camera while I skip through a hardware store, but that's rare. Also, creative lighting does wonders! 😅 It's a lot of work but I consider my videos an extension of the creative process and want them to be up to the level of the artwork itself. Have an awesome day!

      @@KatLiepinsArt Did you go to school for the editing or self taught? Are you using Premier Pro? You are so right about the lighting too. I genuinely mean it, your overall production value is really great. I am analysing your video shot for shot and breaking down what you were doing with all those transitions and camera movements. When I started making videos, I never thought I would enjoy the editing as much as I do, it's quite addictive now! 😊

    I have a question about your set up for the projector. I got a projector myself for the same purpose, transferring the artwork to a board. Do you have a special stand for your skateboard or easel ? just wondering if you have any tips for setting that up so its sturdy enough to trace on? Thanks.
    Also beautiful work as always, your style never ceases to leave me in awe :D

    • @KatLiepinsArt
      @KatLiepinsArt  2 роки тому

      Great question, MG! 1st, you’re going to be so happy that you bought that projector! 2nd, if you look closely at my video during the projection portion you’ll see some rods crisscrossed behind the deck. Now, I won’t say that someone did a poor job assembling their easel (it was me) and I also won’t say that easels don’t have a bit of natural sway in the joinery. But, I ended up using clamps on the central vertical (mast) of my easel to keep it from rocking. You may also want to shove some paper or foam behind the bottom of the deck in the tray so it doesn’t push back or wobble as you trace. Same goes for the top part of the easel’s clamp. The board will want to try to turn if you don’t brace it a bit. Otherwise, it’s easy peasy smooth sailing. Best of luck! Would love to see your deck when it’s finished! 💜💀
      Another super easy alternative is to drive 2 nails into a wall and hang the board by its top two holes, if you don’t have a sturdy easel to use. BOOM!

    Hey Kat, great work as always! Quick question: I noticed you used both Matte Medium and Gesso beneath your painting. I've seen others use one or the other but not both--can you please explain why you do both? Thanks so much!

    • @KatLiepinsArt
      @KatLiepinsArt  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. And, you ask a great question! In my experience, acrylic paint and gesso (which is also acrylic and water based) do not like to stick to spray paint without the help of matte medium. And, the fluorescent acrylic paints that I use are semi translucent so I need to have a bright white gesso background underneath them otherwise the color of the spray painted background will show through the paint and muddy the color. You CAN get away with using a highly pigmented acrylic (non-fluorescent/translucent) on top of the matte medium alone. I have seen others do this successfully. Basically, my process involves an extra step because of the translucent nature of the fluorescent paints that I choose for my color palettes. You were watching closely! Thank you, again! 😊

    Awesome work! How do you go about peeling the tape off of the back of the decks after the resin? I keep running into the problem where resin is getting under the tape causing the back to look pretty gross when the tape comes off. Typically I wait a couple of hours till the resin hardens slightly to pull the tape off but I feel like theirs gotta be a better way. Thank you !

    • @KatLiepinsArt
      @KatLiepinsArt  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Zachary! Great question! I just rub hard with my plastic scraper tool to make sure there are no gaps for the resin to seep behind when putting my tape on. And then, wait 2 or even 3 days before using your heat gun to warm the resin and pull the tape very slowly in small sections at a time. I hope that helps!!!
